  • A ring R is called IFP, due to Bell, if ab=0 implies aRb=0 for $a,b{\in}R$. Huh et al. showed that the IFP condition need not be preserved by polynomial ring extensions. But it is shown that ${\sum}^n_{i=0}$ $E_{ai}E$ is a nonzero nilpotent ideal of E whenever R is an IFP ring and $0{\neq}f{\in}F$ is nilpotent, where E is a polynomial ring over R, F is a polynomial ring over E, and $a_i^{'s}$ are the coefficients of f. we shall use the term near IFP to denote such a ring as having place near at the IFPness. In the present note the structures of IFP rings and near-IFP rings are observed, extending the classes of them. IFP rings are NI (i.e., nilpotent elements form an ideal). It is shown that the near-IFPness and the NIness are distinct each other, and the relations among them and related conditions are examined.

  • The concept of the quasi-Armendariz property of rings properly contains Armendariz rings and semiprime rings. In this paper, we extend the quasi-Armendariz property for a polynomial ring to the skew polynomial ring, hence we call such ring a ${\sigma}$-quasi-Armendariz ring for a ring endomorphism ${\sigma}$, and investigate its structures, several extensions and related properties. In particular, we study the semiprimeness and the quasi-Armendariz property between a ring R and the skew polynomial ring R[x;${\sigma}$$] of R, and so these provide us with an opportunity to study quasi-Armendariz rings and semiprime rings in a general setting, and several known results follow as consequences of our results.

  • This note is concerned with examining nilradicals and Jacobson radicals of polynomial rings when related factor rings are Armendariz. Especially we elaborate upon a well-known structural property of Armendariz rings, bringing into focus the Armendariz property of factor rings by Jacobson radicals. We show that J(R[x]) = J(R)[x] if and only if J(R) is nil when a given ring R is Armendariz, where J(A) means the Jacobson radical of a ring A. A ring will be called feckly Armendariz if the factor ring by the Jacobson radical is an Armendariz ring. It is shown that the polynomial ring over an Armendariz ring is feckly Armendariz, in spite of Armendariz rings being not feckly Armendariz in general. It is also shown that the feckly Armendariz property does not go up to polynomial rings.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce some new class of rings that are closely related to the classes of sharp domains, pseudo-Dededkind domains, TV domains and finite character domains. A ring R is called a ${\phi}$-sharp ring if whenever for nonnil ideals I, A, B of R with $I{\supseteq}AB$, then I = A'B' for nonnil ideals A', B' of R where $A^{\prime}{\supseteq}A$ and $B^{\prime}{\supseteq}B$. We proof that a ${\phi}$-Dedekind ring is a ${\phi}$-sharp ring and we get some properties that by them a ${\phi}$-sharp ring is a ${\phi}$-Dedekind ring.

  • A ring R is called linearly McCoy if whenever linear polynomials $f(x)$, $g(x){\in}R[x]{\backslash}\{0\}$ satisfy $f(x)g(x)=0$, there exist nonzero elements $r,s{\in}R$ such that $f(x)r=sg(x)=0$. In this paper, extension properties of linearly McCoy rings are investigated. We prove that the polynomial ring over a linearly McCoy ring need not be linearly McCoy. It is shown that if there exists the classical right quotient ring Q of a ring R, then R is right linearly McCoy if and only if so is Q. Other basic extensions are also considered.

  • In [3], [4] and [5], Hochster and Huneke introduced the notions of the tight closure of an ideal and of the weak F-regularity of a ring. This notion enabled us to give new proofs of many results in commutative algebra. A regular ring is known to be F-regular, and a Gorenstein local ring is proved to be F-regular provided that one ideal generated by a system of parameters (briefly s.o.p.) is tightly closed. In fact, a Gorenstein local ring is weakly F-regular if and only if there exists a system of parameters ideal which is tightly closed [3]. But we do not know whether this fact is true or not if a ring is not Gorenstein, in particular, a ring is a Cohen Macaulay (briefly C-M) local ring. In this paper, we will prove this in the case of an 1-dimensional C-M local ring. For this, we study the F-rationality and the normality of the ring. And we will also prove that a C-M local ring is to be Gorenstein under some additional condition about the tight closure.

  • We continue the study of McCoy condition to analyze zero-dividing polynomials for the constant annihilators in the ideals generated by the coefficients. In the process we introduce the concept of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings, extending known results related to McCoy condition. It is shown that the class of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings contains both strongly McCoy rings whose non-regular polynomials are nilpotent and 2-primal rings. We also investigate relations between the ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy property and other standard ring theoretic properties. Moreover we extend the class of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings by examining various sorts of ordinary ring extensions.

  • Insertion-of-factors-property, which was introduced by Bell, has a role in the study of various sorts of zero-divisors in noncommutative rings. We in this note consider this property in the case that factors are restricted to maximal ideals. A ring is called IMIP when it satisfies such property. It is shown that the Dorroh extension of A by K is an IMIP ring if and only if A is an IFP ring without identity, where A is a nil algebra over a field K. The structure of an IMIP ring is studied in relation to various kinds of rings which have roles in noncommutative ring theory.

  • We study the structure of central elements in relation with polynomial rings and introduce quasi-commutative as a generalization of commutative rings. The Jacobson radical of the polynomial ring over a quasi-commutative ring is shown to coincide with the set of all nilpotent polynomials; and locally finite quasi-commutative rings are shown to be commutative. We also provide several sorts of examples by showing the relations between quasi-commutative rings and other ring properties which have roles in ring theory. We examine next various sorts of ring extensions of quasi-commutative rings.

A New Measurement Technique on Inherent-Ring-Resonance Frequency and Effective Loss-Tangent using Ring Filters

  • As an application of ring filters, a new and simple method to determine an inherent-ring-resonance frequency is introduced. The ring filter consists of a ring and two short stubs. They are connected at 90$^{\circ}$ and 270$^{\circ}$ points of the ring and the ring filter may be seen in such way that two filters are connected in parallel. Therefore, if the two powers of the two filters are out-of-phase at the output, the power excited at the input can not be delivered. That can be done by making difference in length of the two short stubs, and when a certain condition is satisfied, a frequency exists where all the excited power is reflected. That is the very inherent-ring-resonance frequency. In the lossless case, the return loss with the condition reaches 0 dB at the inherent-ring-resonance frequency but does not with conductor, dielectric losses and so on. Therefore, the effective loss tangent at a frequency of interest may be obtained correctly. To verify the method, two ring filters have been fabricated in microstrip lines and the measured results show good agreement with the predicted ones.
