  • New poly-Si TFTs have been proposed and fabricated in order to increases the output channel resistance ($r_o$). The counter-doped($p^+$) source is tied to the $n^+$ source and is extended into the channel region so that it employs the reverse bias depletion in the channel. As $V_{DS}$ is increased, the depletion width is increased and the effective channel width is reduced. Therefore, the output current saturates well and the $r_o$ is increased successfully. The proposed CMOS devices may improve the amplifier gain of data driver in active-matrix displays

  • A novel linear switched termination active cross-coupled low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) transceiver operating at 1.5 GHz clock frequency is presented. On the transmitter side, an active cross-coupled linear output driver and a switched termination scheme are applied to achieve high speed with low current. On the receiver side, a shared pre-amplifier scheme is employed to reduce power consumption. The proposed LVDS transceiver implemented in an 80 nm CMOS process is successfully demonstrated to provide a data rate of 6 Gbps/pin, an output data window of 147 ps peak-to-peak, and a data swing of 196 mV. The power consumption is measured to be 4.2 mW/pin at 1.2 V.

  • This paper presents a highly linear power amplifier MMIC, having an output power level of about 1 watt, based on InGaP/GaAs hetero-junction bipolar transistor(HBT) technology for the 900 MHz band. The active bias circuit is applied to minimize the effect of temperature variation. Ballast resistors are optimized to prevent a current collapse and a thermal runaway. The fabricated power amplifier exhibited a gain of 17.6 dB, an output P1dB of 30 dBm, and a PAE of 44.9 % at an output P1dB from the one-tone excitation. It also showed a very high OIP3 of 47.3 dBm at an average output power of 20 dBm from the two-tone excitation.

  • In order to reduce the manufacturing cost of MCU chips used in applications such as wireless chargers and USB-C, compared to DP-EEPROM (Double Poly EEPROM), which requires 3 to 5 additional process masks, it is even more necessary MTP(Multi-Time Programmable), which is less than one additional mask and have smaller unit cell size. In addition, in order to improve endurance characteristics and data retention characteristics of the MTP memory cell due to E/P(Erase / Program) cycling, the distribution of the VTP(Program Threshold Voltage) and the VTE(Erase Threshold Voltage) needs to be narrow. In this paper, we proposed a current-type BL S/A(Bit-Line Sense Amplifier) circuit, WM(Write Mask) circuit, BLD(BL Driver) circuit and a algorithm, which can reduce the distribution of program and VT and erase VT, through compare the target current by performing the erase and program pulse of the short pulse several times, and if the current specification is satisfied, the program or erase operation is no longer performed. It was confirmed that the 256Kb MTP memory fabricated in the Magnachip semiconductor 0.13㎛ process operates well on the wafer in accordance with the operation mode.

  • This paper presents a 868/915 MHz CMOS RF transceiver for the ZigBee application. Using a switchless matching network, the off chip switch is removed to achieve the low cost RF transceiver, and by the elimination of the switch's insertion loss we can achieve the benefits for the RF receiver's noise figure and transmitter's power efficiency at the given output power. The receiver is composed of low-noise amplifier, mixer, and baseband analog(BBA) circuit. The transmitter is composed of BBA, mixer, and driver amplifier. And, the integer N type frequency synthesizer is designed. The proposed ZigBee RF full transceiver is implemented on the $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Measurement results show that the maximum gain and the noise figure of the receiver are 97.6 dB and 6.8 dB, respectively. The receiver consumes 32 mA in the receiver mode and the transmitter 33 mA in the transmission mode.

  • A 40-MS/sec 10-bit pipelined analog to digital converter (ADC) with a 1.2 Vpp differential input signal is proposed. The implemented pipelined ADC consists of eight stages of 1.5 bit/stage, one stage of 2 bit/stage, a digital error correction block, band-gap reference circuit & reference driver, and clock generator. The 1.5 bit/stage consists of a sub-ADC, digital to analog (DAC), and gain stage, and the 2.0 bit/stage consists of only a 2-bit sub-ADC. A bootstrapped switch with a constant resistance is proposed to improve the linearity of the input switch. It reduces the maximum VGS variation of the conventional bootstrapped switch by 67%. The proposed bootstrapped switch is used in the first 1.5 bit/stage instead of a sample-hold amplifier (SHA). This results in the reduction of the hardware and power consumption. It also increases the input bandwidth and dynamic performance. A reference voltage for the ADC is driven by using an on-chip reference driver without an external reference. A digital error correction with a redundancy is also used to compensate for analog noise such as an input offset voltage of a comparator and a gain error of a gain stage. The proposed pipelined ADC is implemented by using a 0.18-${\mu}m$ 1- poly 5-metal CMOS process with a 1.8 V supply. The total area including a power decoupling capacitor and the power consumption are 0.95 $mm^2$ and 51.5 mW, respectively. The signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) is 56.15 dB at the Nyquist frequency, resulting in an effective number of bits (ENOB) of 9.03 bits.

  • In this paper, we used class D amplification circuit proposed to improve the decline of error rate caused by rapidly variable impedance in the Power Line Communication. We manufactured voltage drive circuit and current drive circuit that are driven circuit of power line modem on the present. And with the same power line modem, we made a comparison experiment applying the driver circuit that used class D amplifier proposed in this paper. As a result of Experiment, We showed that it has more superior than other existing drive circuits at the impedance change in the power line communication.

  • Biped robot requires that an energy source and a control part should be installed on the body to realize active system. So, we choose the DC motor having high torque in compact size in this study. In the DC motor serve system, we choose power amplifier with analog configuration, developed the module combined the controller and the driver. • This paper presents a transceiver chipset realized in a $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology for serial digital interface of video data transmission, which compensates the electrical cable loss of 45 dB in maximum at 1.5 Gbps. For the purpose, the TX equips pre-emphasis in the main driver by utilizing a D-FF with clocks generated from a wide-range tuning PLL. In RX, two-stage continuous-time linear equalizers and a limiting amplifier are exploited as a front-end followed by a 1/8-rate CDR to retime the data with inherent 1:8 demultiplexing function. Measured results demonstrate data recovery from 270 Mbps to 1.5 Gbps. The TX consumes 104 mW from 1.2/3.3-V supplies and occupies the area of $1.485mm^2$, whereas the RX dissipate 133 mW from a 1.2-V supply and occupies the area of $1.44mm^2$.
