  • The purpose of this study was to reveal controversial issues on Stages of Concern(SoC), which is one of the dimensions of Concerns Based Adoption Model(CBAM). To achieve the purpose, documental analysis was employed. The theoretical framework to analyze literature consisted of three categories including stages, measurements, and applications. Based on the framework, controversial issues on SoC were discussed regarding arguments of CBAM developers and critics. The researchers of this study suggested their own opinions on the issues after thorough examination of CBAM developer's arguments and oppositions against them. Finally, suggestions for further studies on issues of SoC and studies measuring SoC were made.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for face recognition to use in wearable/mobile products. The design flow starts from the system specification to implementation process on silicon. The entire process is carried out using a FPGA-based prototyping platform environment for design and verification of the target SoC. To ensure that the implemented face recognition SoC satisfies the required performances metrics, time analysis and recognition tests were performed. The motivation behind the work is a single chip implementation of face recognition system for target applications.

  • The NoC (network-on-chip) approach is a promising solution to the increasing complexity of on-chip communication problems because of its high scalability. But, NoC applications generally consume a lot of power, because they require a large design space to accommodate many parallel IPs and network communication channels. It is not easy to analyze the power consumption of NoC applications with conventional simulation methods using simple power models. In addition, there are also many limitations in using sophisticated simulation models because they require long execution time and large efforts. In this paper, we apply a cycle-accurate energy measurement technique and tool to the FPGA prototypes, which are generally used to verify the correctness of SoC designs, as a practical indication of the power consumption of real NoC applications. An NoC-based JPEG encoder implementation is used as a case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

  • According to development of wireless communication technologies, we need not only high data rate but low data rate system of low power consumption. This low data rate system is utilized in the field of home automation, health care, sensoring and monitoring, etc. IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN system is the best choice for realizing ubiquitous networking system. In this paper SoC Architecture for IEEE 802.15.4 Low Rate WPAN is designed. IEEE 802.15.4 Low Rate WPAN system serves the functions and realization of home area network. We propose the SoC architecture for 868/915MHz frequency band of IEEE 802.15.4 Low Rate WPAN system. The key issue is to design SoC architecture which provides the function of Low Rate WPAN system to meet the requirement of IEEE 802.15.4 standards.
