When do science lessons appeal to students? - Secondary school students' views on the value of school science and the appealing aspects of science lessons to students - (학생들은 어떤 과학수업에 호응하는가?: 학교 과학에 대한 중고등학생들의 가치 인식과 호응 양상)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate students' views on the value of school science lessons and the aspects of science lessons that appeal to students. For the investigation, semi-structured in-depth interviews with 16 secondary school students were conducted. The results showed that about half of the participants thought that science lessons are important, but not all students have to learn science. And they considered only intrinsic interest and career hopes as critical elements in judging the necessity of science education for all. To appeal to students: first, science lessons should have relevance to students' career hopes, interest, curiosity, abilities, real life, experiences, and test scores. Second, they should acquire students' understanding. Third, they should include more experiments. Finally, they should be related to real life, reflect students' interest and concerns, and link new things with what students already know in terms of contexts and contents. Students thought that science lessons are not suitable for students who don't desire to pursue a science-related career. This suggests that present science curriculum perceived by students doesn't match well with the idea of science education for all. To overcome this problem, students need to be included in the debate about the relevance of science curriculum.

  • The purposes of this study are that understand vocational high school student's scholastic ability, dream and conception about mathematics exactly and that we find a educational mathematics program suitable to vocational high school student.   • Due to Covid-19, international programs at the universities in the US have been temporarily on hold (or terminated). To recover from the great damage that the pandemic has brought to us, we have made our transition to provide international education via online. University of Hawaii - West Oahu has been actively coping with the impact from pandemic, and would like to propose unconventional methods of international programs to the fellow universities in Korea.

Recognition of SW Education of Students, Parents, and Teachers in Elementary, Middle and High Schools: Focused on the SW Leading School (초·중등 학생, 학부모, 교사의 SW 교육에 대한 인식 조사: SW 선도학교를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the perceptions of SW education among elementary, middle and high school students, parents, and teachers, and to identify the variables that influence the perception of SW education. For this study, a total of 50 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, and 8 high schools were selected from the stratified sampling method, and an online survey was conducted for students, parents, and teachers. According to the results, the questionnaires of 2,231 students, 615 parents, and 173 teachers were analyzed. According to the results of the study, students, parents, and teachers who had experienced SW leading schools had a high awareness of SW education, and school-level students showed higher recognition in the order of elementary, middle, and high school. As a result of analyzing the difference of perception according to the characteristics of the study subjects, the students were more aware of the fact that male students, students who participated in SW-related club activities, students who participated in SW-related competitions, higher class times of the desired. In the case of parents, the parents of male students, parents who taught SW-related educational activities outside the school, and the parents with high hopes had high awareness. In the case of teachers, the higher the educational experience of SW, the higher the students' perception of the desired time of 2 hours. As a result of analyzing the influence of the characteristics of the subjects on the perception through the multiple regression analysis, the students 'and parents' awareness and the degree of hemming on the SW-related education were found to have a positive effect. In addition, teacher awareness and SW education career were found to have a positive effect.

A Study on Perception about Using MBL and Satisfaction about Training Program of Elementary and Middle School Teachers and Pre-service Teachers Who Attended the MBL Training (MBL 연수에 참석한 초·중등교사 및 예비교사의 연수 프로그램에 관한 만족도와 MBL 활용에 관한 인식 조사)

  • This study was conducted for the purpose of making the better utilization of MBL in class, based on 2009 curriculum which emphasizes research activities and recommends the direct use of the MBL. We investigated primary, secondary and pre-service teachers' satisfaction and perception level after conducting training about making good use of MBL. The satisfaction level of the training turned out to be high, level of applicability of MBL, expected improvement in learning skills of students and the will to apply it in class was high. The answer that they expect MBL to increase students' curiosity and interest in science was the highest among the survey results, which means that MBL could be used as a solution to lack of students' interest in science. Besides, primary teachers than secondary and pre-teachers, long careered teachers than short careered teachers and MBL-experienced teachers than inexperienced teachers showed more satisfaction and the will to adapt MBL overall. Primary and pre-teachers hoped MBL training to be more related to STEAM education, whereas secondary teachers wanted the training to have more to do with increasing creativity If advanced MBL training program is opened. The price was chosen as the best obstacle to MBL class' application, and the lack of manual for experiment and education to teacher was also pointed out secondly. In conclusion, if MBL is fully equipped in school and training on how to take advantage of it is provided continually, It is expected that MBL could increase the utilization in the field of science education. The results of this paper can be used when you configure the MBL utilization training program.

  • This study has been conducted on 213 students in 4-year universities located in the regions of Daejeon and Chungnam in order to investigate a method to develop a smart device based culinary education application and the results and development method were as follows. First, the most often used smart device was a smart phone, which is used for over 5 hours a day and mainly used for SNS. Second, they utilized a smart device for language and major study during their spare time, wanted educational contents most and thought them useful for learning. Third, most of the students were positively aware of the necessity and learning effects of culinary education applications, and the response rate to utilize the application once a week was highest. Also, they hoped various recipes and simple cuisine and craftsman cooking. Therefore, the functions of SNS mostly often used by students should be added to promote interaction between teachers and students. And more contents should be made for students to use easily in moving or in their spare time. Furthermore, various videos of teaching and theoretical information should be included. And the applications focused on recipes and simple and craftsman cooking should be developed and uploaded on a school homepage and on popular portal sites so that students can easily utilize them.

  • 우리 협회가 지난해 산업자원부 기업활동규제완화심의위원회를 통해 개선 관철시켰던 자판기 영업신고 규제완화가 올해 식품위생법시행규칙으로 공식 개정되었다. 또한 이번 개정에는 그동안 많은 운영자 불만요인으로 작용했던 위생교육 과다, 운영자 건강진단수첩 휴대 등의 조항이 산업계 희망대로 개정되어 앞으로 자판기 운영자들의 편의가 크게 증진될 것으로 기대되고 있다. 이번 란에서는 보다 간편하고 효율화된 자판기 영업신고 및 운영자 준수사항에 대해 살펴보기로 하자.

디지털 디자인 및 패브리케이션 통합 스튜디오 교육 사례 소개 -조지아텍 디지털빌딩랩에서의 인테리어패널 제작

  • 본 글을 통해 학생들과 함께 수행한 다양한 디지털 디자인 모델을 기반으로 5가지의 디지털 패브리케이션 방식을 적용하여 여러 실제 인테리어패널의 제작 과정 및 그 결과물들을 요약적으로 소개하였다. 해당 과정은 기존의 분리된 설계와 제작 및 시공이 아닌, 설계-제작 통합적인 접근방법을 활용함으로써 학생들로 하여금 디지털 디자인과 패브리케이션의 효과를 극대화 할 수 있음을 체득하도록 하였다. 패브리케이션 기기 및 재료 등의 차이점에 따라 실제 구현된 모델과 원래의 디지털 모델과의 형상적인 차이점은 아직까지 한계점으로 남을 수 있지만, 비정형적으로 생성된 디지털 디자인의 형상이 직접적으로 실현이 가능하다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다. 또한 패러매트릭 모델링 기법이나 실제 제작 경험이 거의 없는 학생들을 대상으로 개별적인 교육이 아닌 설계-제작 통합적인 교육을 실시함으로써 각 요소들이 어떻게 유기적으로 관련되어 디지털 디자인 과정이나 패브리케이션과정에서 상호 보완적으로 중요한지 직접 체득할 수 있도록 하였다는데 의의가 있다. 본 글에서 소개한 재료를 깎는 등의 방식인 "마이너스"의 방식이 아닌 3D프린팅과 같이 재료를 이용해 만들어가는 "플러스"적인 방식 또한 해당 사례에서 수행되었으며 마찬가지로 다양한 특성을 지니고 있으나, 본 글에서는 전자의 방식에 대해 주로 논하였다. 본 글에서 다룬 제작기법뿐만 아니라 3D프린팅 기술의 발전과 보급에 따라 디지털 패브리케이션 역시 다양하게 진보하고 있으며, 팹랩 등을 통한 학교에서의 건축설계 교육도 다양하게 진화하고 있다. 본 사례 및 기타 실험적인 교육과 선도적인 여러 시도를 통해서, 디지털 디자인과 패브리케이션 영역을 확장시켜나가고 해당 기술의 발전에 적극적으로 보조할 수 있는 교육과정을 수립하고 이행하는데 일조 할 수 있기를 희망한다.
