Glass ceiling in video games: Unequal gender status in Pokémon Series (게임에서의 유리천장: 포켓몬 시리즈의 불평등 성 지위)

  • This study explores the gender status of $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ Series by analyzing the aspects of male/male-dominated $Pok{\acute{e}}mons$ and female/female-dominated $Pok{\acute{e}}mons$. Counting from the First Generation to the Seventh Generation $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$, there are 802 characters. Each $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ has different gender ratio; the one $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ could have more "possibility" to become male, female, equal, or genderless when he/she is born. This study examines those $Pok{\acute{e}}mons$ in three criteria: 1) Frequency 2) Stats 3) Diversification of Type, and it compares them based on their gender. $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ Series is different than other video games as it provides many characters ($Pok{\acute{e}}mons$). Thus, it helps the audience to view the gender status of video game characters more closely and meaningfully.

  • It has been a year since the $Pok{\acute{e}}monGo$ has been released. Over the past year, the $Pok{\acute{e}}monGo$ have become a social phenomenon. This study analyzes the dual characteristics play of the original $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ game. The Pocket Monster game, which has both casual and hardcore capabilities, has a broader player base and enjoys popularity for 20 years, satisfying the requirement of easy and convenient access, which is an advantage of casual games. In addition, the rating battle system of $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ game turns casual play into hardcore play. In this paper, we analyze the dual play characteristics of longevity games such as Pocket Monsters, and propose strategies and directions for game development that can survive long term in the competitive game market.

  • Post-tensioning the full-depth precast slab longitudinally is to eliminate the tensile stresses in the transverse joints and to prevent any leakage through the joints. When the prestressing is applied to full-depth precast slab which does not composite steel girder, stress concentration occurs at the corners of shear pocket, and compressive stress is not uniformly distributed in the section of precast slab. In this paper, full-depth precast slabs using four different shapes of shear pockets are analyzed by commercial finite element program. Round type of shear pockets is superior to reduction in stress concentration.

A Study on the mobile Augmented reality of game Pokemon Go (모바일 증강현실 게임 포켓몬Go의 특성 연구)

  • Recently, local game companies have been increasingly producing PC-based game that were popular with users among the existing commercialized games into mobile games through remakes. In this paper, we studied how console-based game influenced mobile augmented reality game . Through this process, we extracted five characteristics of mobile augmented reality, then interpreted and classified the meaning of this. Based on released in 2016, the scope of research is limited to console and mobile games previously released. According to the analysis, showed 50 characteristics and borrowed 78% from its existing Pokemon, 22% from its new production, and contained 24% reality. We also found that the Pokemon game series , and the exotic series had much influence on production. Based on this research data, we hope that augmented reality games for mobile will be made more active using existing game contents. It is also hope that such activities will lead to the growth of the home and abroad game industry.

  • $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ Go is an augmented reality (AR) game developed jointly by Niantic and Nintendo. It's a new type of augmented reality role-playing game (RPG) where AR elements like location information, visual recognition technology and GPS navigation technology are integrated with the intellectual property of the popular $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ anime. The global success of $Pok{\acute{e}}mon$ Go can be attributed to the innovative incorporation of AR technologies into the game but also to the utilization of the Pokemon story which had been developed for 20 years. In summary, Pokemon Go is the fruitful result of a successful storytelling that combines the humanistic imagination of a popular, cultural archetype and the engineering imagination of AR game technologies.

  • This paper introduces about the structure guide lines of pocket tunneling Field effect transistor. As the pocket length or thickness increase, on-current $I_{on}$ increases. As the pocket thickness is less than 3nm, subthreshold swing (SS) increase. As the dielectric constants of the gate insulator increases, the performance of on-current and subthreshold swing enhances.

Shape Recognition of 3-D Protein Molecules Using Feature and Pocket Points (포켓과 특징 점을 이용한 3차원 단백질 분자 형상인식)

  • Protein molecules are combined with another ones which have similar shapes at pocket positions. The pocket positions can be good references to describe the shapes of protein molecules. Harris corner detector is commonly used to detect feature points of 2 or 3D objects. Feature points can be found on the pocket areas and the points which have high derivatives. Generally speaking, the densities of feature points are relatively high at pocket areas because the shapes of pockets are concave. The pocket areas can be decided by the subdivision of voxel cubes which include feature points. The Euclidean distances between feature points and the central coordinate of the decided pocket area are calculated and sorted. The graph of sorted distances describes the shape of a protein molecule and the distribution of feature points. Therefore, it can be used to classify protein molecules by their shapes. Even though the shapes of protein molecules have been distorted with noises, they can be recognized with the accuracy more than 95 %. The accurate shape recognition provides the information to predict the binding properties of protein molecules.

The Effects of Game Properties and Gratifications on Continuance Intention of Location-Based Augmented Reality Game (게임 속성과 충족 변수가 위치 기반 증강현실 게임의 지속 사용 의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Since the launch of Pokémon GO in 2016, the game has been loved for many users. Although the number of Pokémon GO users has declined, lots of users still enjoy the location-based augmented reality game. From the perspective of game properties and Use & Gratifications theory, this paper investigated the antecedents of continuance intention of Pokémon GO. A total of 258 responses from Pokémon Go users was collected by an online survey. The result of regression analysis showed that attitude toward game characters, attitude toward random game elements, social interaction, competition, and physical activity increased continuance intention. Perceived cost, however, decreased continuance intention. Implications for researchers and practitioners were discussed.

  • The structure guide lines of pocket tunnel field effect transistor(TFET) considering Line and Point tunneling are introduced. As the pocket doping concentration or thickness increase, on-current $I_{on}$ increases. As the pocket thickness or gate insulator increase, subthreshold swing(SS) increases. Optimal structure reducing the hump effects should be proposed in order to enhance SS.
