  • This study identified the correlation between emotional labor, resilience, and clinical practice stress in dental hygiene students and investigated the factors affecting clinical practice stress. The data collection was conducted on 165 students of Chungcheong Province who experienced clinical practice. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 statistics program. Significant negative correlation was found between emotional labor and resilience (r=-.257). And Significant positive correlation was found between clinical practice stress and emotional labor (r=.426). Factors related to clinical practice stress were emotional labor and major satisfaction. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop clinical practice education programs to reduce emotional labor experienced in clinical practice and improve resilience to reduce the stress of clinical practice for dental hygiene students.

  • This study examined the spirituality of dental hygiene and students and examined whether it affects the stress that may occur during clinical practice. The research tool consisted, clinical practice stresses, and general characteristics. It was held from March to July 2019 for 280 dental hygienists and students in K area. T-test and ANOVA were conducted for differences in spirituality and clinical practice stress according to general characteristics. The correlation between spirituality and clinical stress was analyzed by Pearson corrlation coefficients. As a result, dental hygiene and clinical practice stress of students were negatively correlated with spirituality, major satisfaction, and academic performance. If the motivation to apply to the department was grade, the clinical practice stress was higher. The limitation of this study is that it is impossible to make a concrete comparison because previous studies on the spirituality of dental hygiene and students are insufficient. Therefore, various studies on spirituality and clinical practice stress for dental hygienists are needed, and strategic search will be needed.

  • This study was conducted to identify the correlation between the self-efficacy, communication competence, and clinical practice satisfaction of dental hygiene students and the factors affecting clinical practice satisfaction. The data survey was conducted on 201 students of Chungcheong Province who experienced clinical practice. Data were analyzed by anova and logistic regression analysis. As a result of the study, clinical practice satisfaction was positively correlated with self-efficacy (r=.337), communication competence (r=.293) and self-efficacy was positively correlated with communication competence (r=.633). Factors affected to clinical practice satisfaction were self-efficacy, academic score, and major satisfaction. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop clinical practice education programs that can enhance students' self-efficacy and improve their communication competence.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the convergence relationship between the clinical practice stress and professional identity of 171 dental hygiene students from 3 university in Jeollanam-do area. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Professional identity was negatively correlated with clinical practice training environment(r=-0.352, p<0.01), clinical practice work burden(r=-0.185, p<0.05) and conflicts with patients(r=-0.181, p<0.05). The convergence factors influencing professional identity were clinical practice training environment(${\beta}=-0.261$), aptitude(${\beta}=0.238$), advice from others(${\beta}=-0.186$) and clinical practice unsatisfied(${\beta}=-0.176$). The regression model explained 23.7% of professional identity. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a program for the smooth labor supply by understanding the relationship between clinical practice stress and professional identity in dental hygiene students.

  • This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between clinical practice powerlessness and career identity among dental hygiene students with clinical practice experience in the IoT. A questionnaire was conducted on 172 dental hygiene students in a university located in Chungcheong area. For data analysis, Pearson's correlation analysis was conducted to exam the relationships between clinical practice powerlessness, self-esteem, and career identity. Baron & Kenny's three-step mediation analysis was used to investigate the mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between clinical practice powerlessness and career identity. The results of this study showed that the clinical practice powerlessness showed significant negative correlations with both self-esteem and career identity, and self-esteem showed a positive correlation with career identity. Partial mediating effects of self-esteem were found between clinical practice powerlessness and career identity. Thus, since self-esteem mediates the relationship between clinical practice powerlessness and career identity, it's essential to implement online-based programs aimed at increasing self-esteem among dental hygiene students before they participate in clinical practice.

  • This study will be used as basic data to hold clinical training effective by researching and analyzing frequency, satisfaction and stress for the clinical practice of dental hygiene course students. The survey was undergone from Feb. 1, 2014 to Mar. 31 for 219 dental hygiene course juniors who had experienced clinical training in 3 year colleges located in Daejeon and Chungcheong Province. From the study, general and university hospital holds the highest satisfaction in clinical practice and dental offices in acquiring skills. Also, a significant difference is shown between the frequency and satisfaction according to clinical training sheets. The highest degree of stress is shown in dental offices for 'toothbrushing training and dental health education' and in general and university hospital for 'patient counselling'. Therefore, consideration should be made to establish the direction of education, standard criteria and evaluation method for student clinical training to raise its effectiveness.

The major findings of the study were as follows: The average of satisfaction with clinical practice was 3.32, The average of image of dental hygienists was 3.55. As for clinical practice satisfaction by general and practice characteristics, there were statistically significant difference according to degree of satisfaction for major, as for image of dental hygienists, there were statistically significant difference according to grade, degree of satisfaction for major, number of clinical experience, practice organization and admission motive. The relationship of image of dental hygienists and clinical practice satisfaction was analyzed, and clinical practice satisfaction had a significant positive effect on image of dental hygienists. As a result of analyzing which variables affected image of dental hygienists, it's found that image of dental hygienists were under the influence of number of clinical experience, practice organization and clinical practice satisfaction. Clinical practice satisfaction influenced image of dental hygienists. Therefore, dental hygiene students are given a chance to have positive image through well-structured clinical practice.

  • The clinical institution of some dental hygiene students and the degree of practice and performance according to the practice contents are identified, so as to develop clinical practice guidelines and to improve the education of universities and practical institutions. From November 2016 to March 2017, the questionnaire was prepared by self-inclusion after explaining the purpose of research and how to prepare questionnaire to some dental hygiene students. This material has been analyzed using PASW Statistics 18.0. As for the clinical practice content items of basic care and infection control, the frequency of "execution" among practice methods was high, and the distribution rate was high in oral evil face radiation, preventive dentistry, prosthesis, periodontology, orthodontics, and oral internal medicine. The conservation department has conducted various practical methods such as "executing," "observing" and "preparing." Oral surgery showed similar distribution rates, such as "observation," "preparation," and "execution" in the "preparation and cooperation of the feet." In pediatric dentistry, "observation" was the most common practice, and among them, "observation," "preparation," and "execution" were performed in "preparation and cooperation for infantile development." In addition, students with more experience in clinical practice showed statistically significant differences in basic care, oral hygiene, preventative dentistry, conservation, dental dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, and oral internal medicine(p<0.05). Most clinical practice shows that it is more observable than performed. It is expected that the goal of clear clinical practice content should be set by grade or number of clinical practice experiences, as well as the practice method that can be performed by the trainees.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the degree of major satisfaction, resilience and clinical practice satisfaction of dental hygiene students, and to find out factors affecting clinical practice satisfaction. A survey was conducted for students from the dental hygiene department with clinical practice experience, and a total of 256 questionnaires were finally analyzed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis were performed according to the purpose of the study. As a result of the study, it was found that relational of major satisfaction had a significant positive effect on the variables affecting clinical practice satisfaction. Based on these results, in order to improve clinical practice satisfaction, it is important to increase relationship satisfaction as a sub-factor of major satisfaction.
