  • In a computer-controlling wave generating system. it is sometimes necessary to incorporate the discrete transfer operation of wave board into control circuit in order to control the system in a more delicate way. A numerical filter simulating the transfer operation of wave board in time domain is designed in the form of a discrete recursive filter. The filter was applied to some example board inputs f3r either regular or irregular wave conditions in order to evaluate the filter performance. The filter outputs were compared with the results of theoretical analysis or the discrete convolution method. showing their excellent agreements. The discrete realization of the filter presented hen is in fact of the bilinear transformation. It was shown that the transformation always avoids the aliasing errors, being surely applicable with a sufficient accuracy even for the band-unlimited transfer function of wave board.

  • Scattered x-ray generated by digital radiography systems also have the advantage of increasing signals, but ultimately detectability is reduced by decreasing resolution and increasing noise of x-ray images transmitted objects. An indirect method of measuring scattered x-ray in a modulation-transfer function (MTF) for evaluating resolution in a spatial-frequency domain can be considered as a drop in the MTF value corresponding to zero-frequency. In this study, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) was used as a patient tissue equivalent, and MTFs were obtained for various thicknesses to quantify the effect of scattered x-ray on resolution. X-ray image signals were observed to decrease by 35 ~ 83% with PMMA thickness increasing, which is determined by the absorption or scattering of x-rays in PMMA, resulting in reduced MTF and increased scatter fraction. The method to compensate for MTF degradation by PMMA resulted in the MTF inflation without considering the optical spreading generated by the indirect-conversion type detector. Data fitting or zero-padding are needed to compensate for MTF more reasonably on edge-spread function or line-spread function.

  • In this article it is shown that a GIC circuit with conversion "s" can be realized and a inductor is realized as a RC active two terminal network by using it instead of a gyrator. It is also shown that arbitary stable transfer functions can be realized as the open-circuit voltage ratio of 2 port networks which include GIC;s. In relizing the GIC circuit using transistors, it is made clear that the nullatornorator model of atransistor can be successfully applied at least in the frequency range below 10kHz. The synthesis method using GIC's is characterized with the followings; First, arbitrary stable transfer functions are realized systematically by repeating very simple network structure. Second, in the overall network all circuit elements except GICs are only resistors. Third, the number of condensers in the overall network necessary for realizing the transfer function of n-th order are n, which is believed to be the least number expected. expected.

  • In this study, I studied how to generate input values to achieve the same value as the target value. The general procedures are explained to regenerate the excitation input, which is made by using the frequency response function between input-output. In this study, a mount model connected by a bushing was used as a numerical model. The response value for the excitation input was compared with the target value. The excitation input was corrected to obtain the same response as the target value. Through the iterative process, the reconstructed input value was obtained to have the same response as the test.

  • In this paper we propose a new frame transfer function model describing the variations of a heat release rate in response to an external flow oscillation in gas turbine systems. A critical difference of our model compared to the so-called $n-{\tau}$ model which has been widely used for a prediction of combustion instability (CI), is that our model is able to describe a nonlinear relation between phase and frequency. In contrast, the phase part of the $n-{\tau}$ model is a pure time delay and thus the phase should be a linear function of frequency, which is inconsistent with many experimental results of real combustion systems. For an illustration, our new model is applied to experimental data and the effect of phase nonlinearity is investigated in the context of combustion instability.

  • For an unbiased TF (Tansfer Function) estimations we investigate geomagnetic TF derived from ICHEON and YONGIN sites, employing RR (Remote Reference) and SNS (Signal Noise Separation) techniques. The Rh technique, which requires synchronized field variations recorded at a clean remote site, is a reliable method to minimize the bias of TF by uncorrelated noises in magnetic channels. Meanwhile, SNS technique based on the assumption of noise-free remote data can improve the signal-noise level by separating signal TF and noise TF, which is successfully applied to the environments with strong correlated noises. In this study, TF at YONGIN is analyzed using geomagnetic data from ICHEON site as a remote reference, which seem to have somewhat better data quality. The application of Rh technique reduces the bias of TF, which appears in single site robust estimation, and makes curves in the amplitude and phase of TF more smooth as frequency. Futhermore, in order to investigate noise source quantitatively, SNS technique is applied. The results of SNS suggest that dominant noise source seems to be located at western region of YONGIN. This noise source is considered to originate from railway system such as KTX and national subway. which passes through the west regions of YONGIN.

  • Robust magneto-telluric (MT) response function estimators are now in standard use in electromagnetic induction research. Properly devised and applied, these methods can reduce the influence of unusual data (outlier) in the response (electric field) variable, but often not sensitive to exceptional predictor (magnetic field) data, which are termed leverage points. A bounded influence estimator is described which simultaneously limits the influence of both outlier and leverage point, and has proven to consistently yield more reliable MT response function estimates than conventional robust approach. The bounded influence estimator combines a standard robust M-estimator with leverage weighting based on the statistics of the hat matrix diagonal, which is a standard statistical measure of unusual predictors. Further extensions to MT data analysis are proposed, including a establishment of data rejection criterion which minimize the influence of both electric and magnetic outlier in frequency domain based on statistical distribution of electromagnetic field. The rejection scheme made in this study seems to have an effective performance on eliminating extreme data, which is even not removed by BI estimator, in frequency domain. The effectiveness and advantage of these developments are illustrated using real MT data.

  • In this paper a frequency response analysis using Krylov subspace-based model reduction and its design sensitivity analysis with respect to design variables are presented. Since the frequency response and its design sensitivity information are necessary for a gradient-based optimization, problems of high computational cost and resource may occur in the case that frequency response of a large sized finite element model is involved in the optimization iterations. In the suggested method model order reduction of finite element models are used to calculate both frequency response and frequency response sensitivity, therefore one can maximize the speed of numerical computation for the frequency response and its design sensitivity. As numerical examples, a semi-monocoque shell and an array-type $4{\times}4$ MEMS resonator are adopted to show the accuracy and efficiency of the suggested approach in calculating the FRF and its design sensitivity. The frequency response sensitivity through the model reduction shows a great time reduction in numerical computation and a good agreement with that from the initial full finite element model.

  • In this paper, dynamic modeling with viscoelastic properties of a human body resting on a seat is presented to quantitatively analyze ride quality of passengers exposed to vertical vibrations. In describing the motions of a seated body, a 5 degree-of-freedom multibody model from the literature is investigated. The viscoelastic characteristics of seats used in railway vehicles are mathematically formulated with nonlinear stiffness characteristics and convolution integrals representing time delay terms. Transfer functions for the floor input are investigated and it is found that these are different in accordance with the input magnitude due to nonlinear characteristics of the seat. Measured floor input at the railway vehicle is used to analyze realistic human vibration characteristics. Frequency weighted RMS acceleration values are calculated and the effects of the seat design parameters on the frequency weighted RMS acceleration values are presented.
