  • This study attempted to prepare a realistic support policy for the early childhood education field by specifically grasping the reality and perception of the 2019 revised Nuri curriculum play-based Education experience of the childcare center teacher. To this end, individual in-depth interviews were conducted with childcare center teachers in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, who had the current Nuri curriculum education experience. For the collected data, implications were derived using Hatch's(2002) pattern analysis and interpretative analysis, and Seidman's(2006) interview data analysis. As a result of this study, first, kindergarten and childcare center teacher apply the same integrated revised Nuri curriculum, but childcare center aims for education that considers childcare perspectives and safety more. Second, childcare center teachers had difficulties in educational matching in the process of linking self-directed open play activities in which infants were the main subjects. Third, childcare center teachers' educational understanding of play activities and ability to grasp values contribute to infant interaction and bond growth. In conclusion, there is an urgent need for a national policy plan for teacher education, exchange support, and infant ratio adjustment for effective education implementation of the current Nuri curriculum.

  • The purpose of this study is to build an instruction method focused on the mathematical process and apply it to 12, 5-year-olds from Kindergarten located in Seoul with a view to explore the changes in their mathematical thinking. In addition, surveys with parents and teachers, as well as those conducted in the field of early childhood education, were conducted to analyze the current situation. The effects focused on the five mathematical processes, namely problem solving, reasoning and proof, connecting, representing and communication was found to help the interactions between teacher-child and child-child stimulate the mathematical thinking of the children and induce changes. The mathematical process-focused instruction aimed to advance mathematical thinking internalized mathematical knowledge, presented an integrated problematic situation, and empathized the mathematical process, which enabled the children to solve the problem by working together with peers. As such, the mathematical thinking of the children was integrated and developed within the process of a positive change in the mathematical attitude in which mathematical knowledge is internalized through mathematical process.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the comtent of the education system of US and the UK in order to build an integrated system that can develop the leadership competency of preschool principle. Based on this, the implications are as follows. First, competencies can developed through learning rather than fixed. Therefore, re-conceptualization of leadership competence appropriate to the characteristics and organization of the individual as the presiding authority of the preschool can be considered as ability to show visible knowledge and skills, invisible self concept. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a capacity development plan based on this. Second, the introduction and implementation of continuous and systematic training programs such as the training system that strengthens the capacity of the directors and principals of the United States and the United Kingdom is necessary. To do this, we must introduce a system that renews certification every five years, like the United States, rather than a system that acquires and maintains certification with a single training. Third, various training methods should be carried out. In the case of the US and the UK, we think it is desirable to train in various ways in the training period, the university, the teacher center, and the private organization or association. Therefore, it is necessary to build a cooperation system with various institutions such as training institutes, universities, teacher centers, educational information research institutes, and private organizations in each province, and strengthen them in various ways. Fourth, the contents and methods of qualification training and future job training of the director of the preschool should be deviated from the uniform level. Therefore, the systematic research that reflects the knowledge and contents of the administration required in the field should be given priority by the university or research organization that is in charge of the training.

  • This study is aimed to suggest some of the right directions for young children's music education in the future. For the purpose, we sampled 265 domestic theses and dissertations that were written over the past three decades between 1985 and 2015, which were analyzed by period of time, content, method and subjects. As for data analysis, statistical data on total frequency and percentage were obtained. The results were as follows: First, the largest number of the studies were implemented during the period from 2007 to 2010, and there was a rapid increase in the number of the dissertations. Second, in terms of the content of research, the biggest number of the studies were concerned about western music teaching methods and integrated teaching methods. The third most common research method was quantitative research. Specifically, experimental research was most prevalent. Fourth, regarding subjects, five-year-old preschoolers were the most common subjects. This study is of significance in that it provides basic information on the management of the Nuri curriculum and music education for young children.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the social perception characteristics of young children with disabilities over the past decade. For this purpose, Textom, an Internet-based big data analysis system was used to collect data related to young children with disabilities posted on social media. 50 keywords were selected in the order of high frequency through the data cleaning process. For semantic network analysis, centrality analysis and CONCOR analysis were performed with UCINET6, and the analyzed data were visualized using NetDraw. As a result, the keywords such as 'education, needs, parents, and inclusion' ranked high in frequency, degree, and eigenvector centrality. In addition, the keywords of 'parent, teacher, problem, program, and counseling' ranked high in betweenness centrality. In CONCOR analysis, four clusters were formed centered on the keywords of 'disabilities, young child, diagnosis, and programs'. Based on these research results, the topics on social perception of young children with disabilities were investigated, and implications for each topic were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify how character education activities utilizing picture books affect pro-social behaviors of young children. The subjects were 46 children aged 5 who attended private child care centers in G city. The children were allocated to either the experiment group or the control group. The data were collected for 12 weeks and the activity sessions were provided to the experiment group 3 times a week (36 times in total). The sessions consisted of an integrated approach toward character education. Therefore, various activities were included such as listening to the stories of picture books, discussion, drama, language activities, music, mathematics, science and games. The findings of this study were as follows: The experiment group which experienced character education utilizing picture books has significantly improved their pro-social behaviors compared to the control group. The approach positively influenced the overall sub-variables such as leadership, helping, communication, initiative consideration, approach trial, sharing, empathy, and emotional control. The character education activities should be applied to character education utilizing picture books for young children because they let young children experience building up trust and learn social attitude, and influenced increase of pro-social behaviors on young children.

  • The emergence of smartphones is creating a faster and easier digital communication society along with the existing Internet. Among the various methods of communication, the smart notification is most often used in early childhood education institutions for information exchange between parents, teachers and directors. And the notification helps parents understand the development status and curriculum of infants more easily. Therefore, this paper developed an integrated infant management system based on a web-based platform and a mobile app platform for exchanging various information on infants management between directors, teachers and parents. Through the established system, the director, teachers, and parents can check the information they need at any time, and it is possible to provide a mobile service environment where multiple guardians can safely take care of one infant. In addition, multiple guardians can provide appropriate feedback information through the collection and analysis of various data by using the infant and toddler integrated management system. In the future, if the functions provided based on the smartphone app are configured according to the user, it is expected that it will be able to expand from daycare centers to educational institutions.

To recognize concept mapping of teacher's perception on the education of a child's personality development, the procedure of the research are as follows. The specific research results are as follows: First, based on the categorization, using multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis, the results were concept mapping with 2-dimensions and five clusters. Second, dimensions of perception of teachers on the education of a child's personality development in concept mapping, showed virtue in left and performance in right, respectively, in X-axis, while environmental factor was in the upper area and personal factor was in the lower area, in Y-axis. Third, teachers' perception on the importance on education of child's personality development was evaluated in 5 categories as follows: 'Emphasizing adult's role'(M=4.45) was perceived as the most important among categories related to the education of a child's personality development. These results can be used for developing teacher's training program or an institutional supporting plan to raise performance of the education of a child's personality development in the future.
