The results of this study were as follows: First, according to the results of comparing the friendship expectations of science-gifted and non-gifted students at the regular class, there was statistically significant intergroup difference in the sub-domains of intimacy and morality, but there was no significant difference in the sub-domain of ability similarity. Second, according to the results of comparing the friendship expectations of science-gifted at the gifted class and at the regular class, there was statistically significant difference in the sub-domain of intimacy, but there was no significant difference in the sub-domains of morality and ability similarity. Based the results, the implications to understand the friendship of the science gifted elementary students were suggested in depth.
The purpose of this study was to explore a more useful identification method by comparing diverse selection approaches for the gifted education programs at the each elementary school. Diverse selection methods examined in the study include 'written examinations', 'mixed evaluation', 'achievement test scores', and 'self-recommendation'. For the study, each identification group's gifted students' characteristics, such as intelligence, creativity, motivation and self-regulated learning strategies, were compared. The subjects of the study were a total of 594 gifted and normal students. The results of this study were as follows: First, there were no statistically significant differences between students in each gifted education class and gifted students who belong to the regional gifted education programs which are considered higher level of gifted education programs. While, there were statistically significant differences between two groups of gifted students and general students in all aspects examined, such as intelligence, creativity, motivation and learning strategies. In addition and most importantly, diverse identification method utilized in each school showed differences in gifted students' characteristics. Especially, students who were selected through the self-recommendation showed significantly lower intelligence, creativity, motivation and learning strategies. The implications of the study related to the identification and education for the gifted at each elementary school were discussed in depth.
The purpose of this study is to compare the peer relations of the gifted students in science and ordinary students. To this study, the questionnaire to access students' satisfaction with their peer relations, students' feeling of loneliness, and the quality of peer relations was conducted to the subjects of 147 gifted students in science and 253 ordinary students in Korea. In the peer relations at the ordinary class, the significant difference between them was found in the students' feeling of loneliness, so the gifted students showed a little lower feeling of loneliness than the ordinary students. Also, the significant difference was found in the quality of peer relations. In the perception of the gifted students' peer relations at the gifted and ordinary class, satisfaction with their peer relations and the quality of peer relations were showed the significant differences. As the importance of SW education increases, the necessity of SW gifted education is being required that early discovery of talented children in SW fields. In 2016, thirty SW gifted classes were set up for elementary and secondary school students and SW gifted education began. However, SW gifted education could not be carried out with consistency in detail because each class had different conditions such as selection methods of gifted students, curriculum and environment. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the situation of SW gifted classes in order to decrease the gap of the SW gifted class. In this research, all the SW gifted classes were investigated in the view of the curriculum, environment, student selection and contents through reviewing the installation-performance reports and on-site visits of all classes. Also, limitations and problems of the SW gifted classes were described and improvement methods were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to find out whether scientifically creative students were selected as science-gifted class students and whether their creativity improved after class for the science-gifted students by comparing the science gifted class students to general class students in the first grade of high school. This was achieved by comparing science-gifted class students with general ones on creative personality and creative thinking ability. For this study, science-gifted class students and general class students were surveyed using Khatena-Torrance creative perception inventory and Torrance test of creative thinking with words of form A, before and after class for the science-gifted group. The results showed that science-gifted class students scored significantly higher than general class students on the creative personality. However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in their creative thinking ability. Also, in this study, the sub-factors of creative personality and those of creative thinking ability showed very low levels of correlation, which implies that the two variables are highly independent. In addition, science-gifted class students did not show significant improvement in their scores on the creative personality and the creative thinking ability after class. Therefore, further research and development on the selection of science-gifted students and teaching-learning methods which can improve the creativity of these students are needed.
Peer relationships in young students' communities are one of the important factors influencing the cognitive and affective domains of learning. Moreover, students who join the special program for gifted students possess differential peer relationships from the students in general classes. This study aims to explore the differences of 5th grade five science-gifted students' peer relationships between students in special classes for gifted students and general classes. Five students in the special program for gifted students, managed by the Office of Education in a southern city, participated in this study. Social network analyses were utilized to explore participants' peer relationships; the students' homeroom teacher was interviewed to explore the contextual and in-depth characteristics of gifted students' peer relationships. The results illustrated four cases of peer relationships: (1) smart loner (2) my study mate (3) I'm the best in my class, and (4) a good friend anywhere. This study identified that the gifted students possessed diverse peer relationships in both the special program and general classroom. In addition, this study suggests that the program for gifted students needs to be specially designed based on the gifted students' peer relationship.
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the current status of a program for an elementary math class for gifted students in Daegu and to propose a remedy. The main results of this thesis are as follows. First, goals of the gifted class and the basic operation direction were satisfactory, however plans for parent training programs and self evaluation of the classes were not presented. Therefore, it needs when and how to do for specific plan of gifted class evaluation and parent training programs. Second, The annual instruction plan has been restricted to the subject matter education and field trips and has not included specific teaching methods in accordance with the contents of learning program. The management of gifted classes, therefore, requires not only the subject matter education and field trips but also output presentations, leadership programs, voluntary activities, events and camps which promote the integral development of gifted students. Third, there is no duplication of content to another grade, and various activities did not cover the whole scope of math topics(eg. number and operation, geometry, measurement, pattern) equally. In accordance with elementary mathematics characteristics, teachers should equally distribute time in whole range of mathematics while they teach students in the class because it is critical to discover gifted students throughout the whole curriculum of elementary mathematics. Fourth, as there are insufficient support and operational lack of material development, several types of programs are not utilized and balanced. It is necessary for teachers to try to find the type of teaching methods in accordance with the circumstances and content, so that students can experience several types of programs. If through this study, we can improve the development, management and quality of gifted math programs, it would further the development of gifted education.

The purpose of this study is to find new material for developing teaching and learning materials for the gifted class of elementary school students by using the rotatable tangram made by modifying the traditional tangram. Rotatable tangram can be justified by gifted students through mathematical communication. However, even gifted class students have some limitations in finding and justifying triangles and rectangles of all sizes unless they go through the 'symbolization' stage at the elementary school level. Therefore, students who need an inquiry process for letters and symbols need to provide supplementary learning materials and additional questions. It is expected that the material of rotatable tangram for the development of teaching and learning materials for elementary school gifted students will contribute to the development of mathematical reasoning and mathematical communication ability.
This study aimed to explore the problem in curriculum development in school-based gifted program in the arts and suggest the way to solve that. For this study, we surveyed 28 teachers and guest instructors, furthermore interviewed 6 teachers (4 in music and 2 visual arts). The study results indicated that not only curriculum development of school-based program for the gifted in the arts was not systemic, but also most teacher depended excessively on guest instructors due to the lack of expertise and information for curriculum development. Also, They did not understand specific meaning of the giftedness and gifted curriculum in arts nor recognize the unique role of school-based gifted program. In addition, most teachers simply attempted to solve lack of knowledge and experience on a personal level. Their research condition were inadequate to plan curriculum. To solve these problems in curriculum development in school-based gifted program in arts, we suggested some solutions: differentiated teacher in-service program, the achievement criteria for fundamentals of curriculum, system for connecting materials, information and human resources, as well as consultative body for improving the present condition of school-based gifted program.
