  • This paper analyzed about gender difference in the achievement of underachievers of high school students while learning using technology. Participants were composed of 67 underachievers on first grade in high school located in a metropolitan city. That had never used a mathematics educational calculator before. Target participants were divided into two groups: experiment group that studied activity papers with a CAS calculator. And control group that studied the same activity papers using only paper-and-pencil. The content of the activity papers for the two groups was the same, but the structure differed. The two groups completed mathematics achievement tests both before and after the activity papers. The results are that find out no difference of the mathematics achievement between boys and girls in each group, and that the mathematics achievement of boys in experiment group are better than one of boys in control group, and also girls.

  • The purpose of this study is to increase the level of learning achievement and satisfaction by developing of on-line learning instruments. This study was to investigate the relationship among learning instrumments(lecture, homeworks, on-line interaction and off-line interaction), learning achievement and learning satisfaction. This survey was conducted 226 responses of e-learning social welfare education learners. Research method used Amos 18. Result indicated that homeworks and off-line interactive instruments had a positive effect on learning achievement and satisfaction. And lecture had a positive effect on learning satisfaction, but on-line mode interaction instruments had no effect. In order to improve the effectiveness of learning, structural development of activity learning instrument is necessary. And to foster learning satisfaction, it will be necessary to increase the learning achievement.

  • This study analyzed students', parents of student, and school master' survey materials and reading, math, and science knowledge performance based on OECD PISA 2009 Koreana data. Also, school library level variables grasped the impacts of academic achievement. Through this study looked for suggestion to improvement, educational accountability and leverage of school library. The results, first, when they use reading more pleasantly thought, they achieve higher scores in academic performance. Second, when they use more books and reading resources in housekeeping, they achieve higher scores in academic performance. Third, when they were more visits school library for exploit internet, they achieve higher lower scores in academic performance. Fourth, when the member of the staff in the school library are more lack of people, they achieve lower scores in academic performance. Fifth, private education's experience in reading have a negative influence in reading achievement and science achievement. Sixth, school library's visiting and library application study about national language curriculum in the impacts of academic performance would not change statistical evaluation significantly.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness of the flipped class by comparing Python programming classes divided into flipped class and general class. The participants who participated in each class had 36 students, so that they could participate in the class without knowing the difference of the class method. The students's academic achievement was applied the two groups with similar test items, and then the overall achievement were compared. The analysis showed that the achievements in flipped class in the basic grammar and intermediate grammar were higher than those in the general class. As a result of gender achievement analysis, there was no effect on the type of instruction. However, male student were generally higher in academic achievement. In conclusion, flipped class in the programming is a good way to improve students' understanding.

  • This study analyzed gender differences in variability with the results of National Assessment of Educational Achievement on Mathematics from 2003 to 2006, which subjects are 3rd, 9th and 10th grades. The purpose of the analysis was to explain gender differences in mean of mathematical ability scores from a different angle. The results and conclusions obtained in this study are as follows: First, regardless of grades and mean differences, male assessment scores were consistently more variable than female assessment scores. Second, for same male and female students, scores in later grades were almost consistently more variable than those in earlier grades. Third, for all grades, the ratios of males in an advanced and below-basic levels were generally higher than those of females in the same achievement levels.

  • In this study, the achievement standards of the "Construction and Operation of Infomation unit were established as the revision of the middle school Infomatice Curriculum in 2007. Based upon archievement standards, the assessment standards were made. And the exemplification was presented for it. The levels of the achievement unit were set in the small unit level through the understanding and the analysis of the new curriculum. The achievement standards were stated in the point of views of the students. The assessment standards divide students' achievement into three level(high/middle/low) and state each level so that it can guide evaluation of achievement. Considering the education environments, the time of the course, and the students' levels, the achievement and assessment standards can be reconstructed and would be used. Before the application of the revised Informatics curriculum, we intend for the understanding about new curriculum to be improved and for the informatics of educational activities to be advanced in quality.

  • The purpose of this research is to draw some implications for reducing gender differences in educational achievement of mathematics by inquiring those in mathematics-related attitudes. For this purpose, this article analyzed the gender difference in mathematics-related attitudes of the elementary, middle, and high school students. Also, mathematics-related attitudes according to achievement levels was analyzed. The findings of this study are as follows. Firstly, in the scores on mathematics-related attitudes, male students were significantly higher than those of female students. Secondly, in the evaluation of the subordinate factors of mathematics-related attitudes, gender differences were shown a little bit larger in the areas of interest and self confidence than in the area of perception of mathematics value regardless of grades. Thirdly, in all schools, the higher achievement level is, the higher the score of mathematics-related attitudes is. Lastly, gender differences on mathematics-related attitudes in advanced level group is bigger than those in other level groups.

  • In this study, considering the OECD's DeSeCo and 2030 projects, the curriculum to develop competency was expected to be more emphasized, and the evaluation standards of the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum for elementary school in Korea and the Australian curriculum were analyzed in depth. To this end, the capabilities newly emphasized in the OECD 2030 Project were examined in detail and examined how the Australian elementary school mathematics curriculum included capabilities in achievement standards and content descriptions. The achievement standards of elementary school mathematics curriculum in Korea and Australia were matched, and the contents of number and arithmetic domain were compared and analyzed, and the skill verbs included in the achievement standards were analyzed and compared to see how their competencies were reflected in the achievement standards. Based on the results of the analysis, implications for improving math achievement standards were derived to faithfully reflect the capabilities into the mathematics curriculum.

  • The purpose of the present study was to verify the structural relationship among metacognition, interactions, problem solving ability and achievement in gifted students through the 3P model. In this study, factors affecting the performance of gifted education are based on 3P(presage, precess. product) theory(Biggs, 2003). Participants attended a 174 gifted student in institutes for the gifted education in the city office of education in Korea. A hypothetical model was proposed, which was composed of metacognition and interactions as exogenous variables; and problem solving ability and achievement as endogenous variables. The results of this study are as follows: First, metacognition and interactions had significant effects on gifted students' problem solving ability. Second, problem solving ability had significant effects on gifted students' achievement. And problem solving ability was verified as a complete mediating variable between metacognition and achievement also interactions and achievement.

  • The recent international comparative studies such as PISA(Program for International Student Assessment) and TIMSS-R(Third International Mathematics and Science Study-Repeat) provide results of relative mathematics achievement of participating countries. The purpose of this paper is to compare the mathematics results of PISA and TIMSS-R. To make PISA and TIMSS-R results comparable, they were standardized. The close investigation of these standardized results reveals that the two Asian countries(Korea and Japan) and several English speaking countries have the commonality in mathematics achievement. Thus this study looks for patterns and similarities within a group of Asian countries(Korea and Japan) and Western countries(the U.S and Australia) by in-depth analysis of PISA mathematics achievement based on item response theory. As a result, it was noted that Western countries tend to perform well on open constructed items and are likely to perform better when an item involves less formal mathematics. On the other hand, Asian countries perform well when an item involves numeric or algebraic computation related to curriculum-based content, but they are relative poor at an item calls for verbal explanations or interpretations of graphs.
