  • This study was conducted to identify factors that affect the academic achievement of nursing students in home-based course. Data were collected from 324 nursing students attending H university through a questionnaire. Using SPSS/WIN statistics 20.0, the data was analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation, and Multiple Linear Regression. Factor that was significant to the academic achievement of nursing students in home-based course was learning engagement(t=2.368, p=.019), which showed 21.8% of the explanation. In conclusion, the development of convergence teaching-learning strategies that reflect new knowledge and technology, and various extracurricular programs are necessary to improve academic achievement through the learning engagement of nursing students in home-based course.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify clinical reasoning of nursing students as well as clarify the relevance between clinical reasoning and academic achievement. 87 students broke into 30 groups of two or three. The students performed post operative care for adult patients in the simulation practicum course of their final semester. Data were collected by evaluating the video-recorded nursing practicum using the clinical reasoning rubric. Clinical reasoning of 61(70.1%) students was limited to the beginning level and that of 6(6.9%) students of the highest scoring was at the third level among the four levels of ability. There was no significant correlation between clinical reasoning and the final cumulative GPA, while there was low level of significant correlation between clinical reasoning and GPA of adult health nursing course or adult health nursing practicum course. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the nursing curriculum to enhance nursing students' clinical reasoning.

  • This study is a research study to determine the effect of online lecture substitution for subjects due to COVID-19 on self-directed learning ability, academic achievement, and online learning satisfaction of nursing students. From September to October 2020, the final 113 nursing students of data recovered as enrolled in the Department of Nursing at a university located in G City were analyzed. The data collected were analyzed by performing descriptive statistics and hierarchical regression analysis using the SPSS 21.0 program. The study results are summarized as follows. The average score of self-directed learning was 3.32±0.39, academic achievement 3.32±0.75, and learning satisfaction was 3.31±0.78. Factors affecting online learning satisfaction were found to be preferred learning methods and academic achievement. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to design instruction and operate classes to improve online learning satisfaction by evaluating the learner's learning method in advance when running nursing school subjects as online lectures for nursing students.

  • In 2020, due to COVID-19, all universities in Korea were conducting non-face-to-face classes. The purpose of this study is to study what factors affect academic achievement under such non-face-to-face instruction, especially for engineering students where practical training is important. Validity of the statistical hypothesis defined in this study by applying a structural equation model using questionnaires about academic achievement for engineering students at University D for this study. In addition, I would like to suggest what factors should be considered in non-face-to-face classes, especially in engineering colleges. As a result of the study, it was found that students' Q&A, feedback and e-learning system had a direct influence on academic achievement. In addition, it was confirmed that they had an indirect influence on academic achievement through the parameters of theory class and practical class.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the differences in academic achievement, department satisfaction, and department preference according to the entrance admission for the computer education of G National University of Education. As a result of collecting and analyzing, for three years, the academic achievement data of the students who have excelled in the specific area and regular entering students, it is found that the achievement of the students who excelled in the specific area is relatively higher. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that students who excel in specific areas were more satisfied with their departments than those who entered regularly. The reason for the high academic achievement and academic satisfaction of the students in the specific area seems to be the high loyalty to the department by the students who are interested in the computer. Therefore, it can be seen that it is necessary to consider how to select students for each enriched course at the entrance examination of education universities. In addition, as the era of the fourth industrial revolution comes, the number of students wishing to pursue computer education is expected to increase.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact and analyze the effect of smart learning based class to on the students with low academic achievement level. The study performed in G University in 2018 among students taking calculus II class. It includes 16 students with low academic achievement level, whose grades were under C in the previous calculus I class. They belonged to special class consisted of very low academic achievement level and had to pass calculus II. 3D and AR were actively used in the class. The result shows that they got visual understanding of space, which revealed through analyzing SNS, mid-term and final examination, lecture evaluation. Also, smart learning based mathematics class utilizing smartphone's application elevated academic achievement level and influenced positively on the interest and attitude toward mathematics regardless of previous academic achievement level.

  • This study examined the relationship of academic achievement, learning motivation and self-directed learning ability and cognitive presence of nursing students in online class. Data were collected through self reported structured questionnaire in 202 nursing students from October 19 to 30, 2020. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0. As a result this study, academic achievement was positively correlated with learning motivation(r=.45, p<.001), self-directed learning ability(r=.50, p<.001) and cognitive presence(r=.64, p<.001). As a result regression analysis, subjective academic grades, self-directed learning ability and cognitive presence explained 57.0% of the academic achievement in nursing students(F=91.00, p<.001). Therefore, it is necessary to develop various interventions to enhance the self-directed learning ability and to design the classes that increase the cognitive presence.

  • This study examined how the spatial features, such as the standards of facilities and floor plan of a university dormitory affect the academic achievements. This thesis reports the implications of the management of local universities through the optimization of dormitory environments and provides guidelines for the development of local universities in the face of a decrease in the number of the students. The following results were drawn from a case study of 'S' University which is situated in North Chungcheong Province. First, the students' academic achievements improved with increasing quality of the overall university dormitory. The results show that the dormitory is not only the living space but also the learning space. Considering that an improvement in the students' academic achievements can affect the employment rate of college graduates, providing students with pleasant amenities is very important. Second, the results showed that the academic achievements vary with the spatial characteristics of the residential space; the academic results deteriorated with increasing number of students who share a room. The results of this analysis suggest that a flexible dwelling space that enables the multiple-use residential space to be remodeled into single or double rooms, is very important when facing a decrease in the number of students and the difficult financial stability of the university.

  • This study conducted foundational research to derive ways to use ChatGPT in mathematics education by analyzing ChatGPT's responses to questions from the National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) and the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence model, has gained attention in various fields, and there is a growing demand for its use in education as the number of users rapidly increases. To the best of our knowledge, there are very few reported cases of educational studies utilizing ChatGPT. In this study, we analyzed ChatGPT 3.5 responses to questions from the three-year National Assessment of Educational Achievement and the College Scholastic Ability Test, categorizing them based on the percentage of correct answers, the accuracy of the solution process, and types of errors. The correct answer rates for ChatGPT in the National Assessment of Educational Achievement and the College Scholastic Ability Test questions were 37.1% and 15.97%, respectively. The accuracy of ChatGPT's solution process was calculated as 3.44 for the National Assessment of Educational Achievement and 2.49 for the College Scholastic Ability Test. Errors in solving math problems with ChatGPT were classified into procedural and functional errors. Procedural errors referred to mistakes in connecting expressions to the next step or in calculations, while functional errors were related to how ChatGPT recognized, judged, and outputted text. This analysis suggests that relying solely on the percentage of correct answers should not be the criterion for assessing ChatGPT's mathematical performance, but rather a combination of the accuracy of the solution process and types of errors should be considered.
