The results of the first survey show that after controlling for the educational service satisfaction and facilities satisfaction, there is a significant influence of college students' library satisfaction on college life satisfaction. The second study added variables for the three components of library service quality (librarian service quality, library resources and service quality, and library facilities and environmental quality). The results of the second survey show that there is a significant influence of library service quality on college library satisfaction, and again a significant influence of college students' library satisfaction on college life satisfaction. Moreover, the results of two group analysis show that the influence of college library satisfaction on college life satisfaction is stronger in high usage group than low usage group. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed.

  • The study aimed to investigate the relative levels of grit and their relationship with potential dropping-out and university adjustment of foreign students in Korea. The subjects of this survey were gathered through purposive sampling, and 335 subjects were collected from university students in South Korea. First, the grit was significantly and positively correlated with emotional adjustment, social adjustment, university satisfaction, and academic adjustment, and was negatively correlated with potential dropping-out of university. Drop-out potential is negatively and significantly correlated with all subgroups of university life adjustment. Second, the grit is higher than the mid-point and drop-out potential is very low. Emotional adjustment and university satisfaction are the highest among the subgroups of university life adjustment but social adjustment is the lowest among them. Third, it was found that foreign students in the mid and high grit clusters are lower in mean drop-out potential rates than those in the low grit cluster. And foreign students in the mid and high grit clusters are higher than those students in the low university life adjustment group.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the campus life of engineering transfer students, to devise a means for increasing their participation in the ABEEK, and to assist them to have the satisfactory campus lives through researching the satisfaction level and the campus life adaptation of transfer students. We conducted a survey targeting 193 engineering transfer students of K university and D university. The study shows that most transfer students were accepted into college through a general screening process, their grades are likely to be lower than those of the previous college, however, they tend to be satisfactory with the current campus life, and the rate of participation in the ABEEK is low. Therefore university officials need to work hard to raise the rate of the participation in the ABEEK track and the campus life adaptation of transfer students. Moreover, the male transfer students tend to be more satisfactory than the female students, and students with higher grades in the previous college are likely to show higher adaptation than those with lower grades. Therefore we should make effort to increase the satisfaction of transfer students and need to accommodate the programs for the female transfer students more positively.

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of the achievement goal orientation on college students' life satisfaction and sense of the belonging. This study used the analysis of the latent growth model to comprehend the slope of the 3 years longitudinal data. The result was that mastery approach and mastery avoidance affected the initial value of college life satisfaction, but not its slope as the time of 3 years went. On the other hand, performance approach was the opposite of mastery approach and mastery avoidance to college students' life satisfaction. Performance avoidance did not have an influence on both the initial value and the slope of college students' life satisfaction. The effect of the achievement goal orientation to the sense of belonging was also explored and its result was that mastery approach and mastery avoidance affected the initial value of the sense of belonging. However, it was different that performance approach did not influence the slope of the sense of belonging.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore methods to prevent and improve the problem of overdependence on smartphones by analyzing the differences in satisfaction with college life satisfaction of freshmen. For this, data on freshmen of KCYPS were extracted and used. The data were analyzed using non-hierarchical cluster(K-means) analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffé tests. The results of this study are as follows. First, it has been shown that freshmen who are overdependent on smartphones experience inconvenience in their daily life, withdrawal and anxiety, and resistance. Second, there is no significant difference in the level of satisfaction with college life according to gender(t=-.015, p<.05). Third, it is shown that the level of satisfaction with college life of overdependent freshmen on smartphone is significantly lower compared to that of average and moderate dependent freshmen. Based on the results, it was suggested that university-level efforts such as emotional support and learning strategy support are needed for freshmen who are overdependent on smartphones.

  • This study aims to derive the main factors for predicting student departure of university freshmen and provide the basis for establishing policies to prevent student departure at the institutional level. For this purpose, a random forest model is developed with the data observed for 2 years at a four-year private university in Seoul. In the prediction model, 6 variables of school adjustment factors and 12 variables of institution satisfaction factors are applied. The top 6 variables presenting the highest MDA turn out to be emotional stability, financial conditions, assurance in the choice of major, satisfaction with the choice of university, educational method(systematic teaching method), educational method(effectiveness of major education). Based on the results of this study, it is suggested the necessity of institutional design supporting freshmen to adapt to university life and stably continue their studies.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the factors influencing adjustment to college life by nursing college students. Data were collected from 408 nursing students in B city from May 8, 2017 to May 12 and analyzed by ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 21.0. The degree of adjustment to college life by nursing students was $3.24{\pm}.49$. There were significant differences in adjustment to college life with respect to grade(t=2.687, p<0.001), age(F=3.187, p=0.042), academic grade(F=18.551, p<0.001), satisfaction with major(F=61.347, p<0.001), and relationship with colleagues (F=28.273, p<0.001). There were positive correlations between adjustment to college life and emotional intelligence(r=0.421, p<0.001), humor sense(r=0.360, p<0.001), and ego resilience(r=0.418, p<0.001). Regression analysis showed 41.7% of variance in nursing student's adjustment to college life was caused by grade, academic scores, satisfaction with major, relationship with colleagues, emotional intelligence, and ego resilience.
