  • Time management is important in construction management Especially, in the high-rise apartment housing projects, it is very important to expedite the construction progress in order to meet the planned schedule. The objective of this paper is to propose the baseline for the progress rate using work volume and man $\cdot$ hours performed at work activity level. The work volume far each activity is transformed to the weighted value compared to total work volume for the floor Therefore, a progress rate for an activity is calculated by multiplying a weighted value and work volume. A progress rate for a floor and a building can calculated in this manner, respectively.

  • The project control system based on the actual values of three objects shall be operated continuously in a timely manner. For collecting/tracking accurate actual performance data, a reasonable basis of measuring work performance and its related measuring methods are needed. Therefore, this research proposes a method of developing and operating the construction progress measurement system. The problem of the conventional method is the difficulty to construct control accounts and to define the basis of measuring the performance of each control account. Therefore, this research proposes the preferable, formal methodology that produces the progress value of the smallest work unit by surveying the installed quantities and estimates percent complete of groups of works or entire project by earned value concept. This research in connection with the hereafter research of the weight value of control accounts will contribute to apply in practice and to develop the scientific construction management technique in the construction industry. Further researches how to trend and forecast the project using the measured progress value are recommended for putting the prosed system of this research to practical use.

  • It is very important to examine and compare initial plan with earned value repeatedly in construction. For this purpose, progress measurement, which reflects the actual progress correctly, is required and it is necessary that accurate field data should be offered. To measure the progress, the entire project mutt be divided into unit works that have an accurate scope of work, and required information must be distributed to the all parties. Under the circumstances of domestic construction industry which focus on the specifications, progress measurement needs to reflect the information of schedule as well as cost that includes the quantity of unit work and construction expenses. Therefore this research proposes weighted method of progress measurement based on the information of cost and schedule.

  • Managing mega construction project is a very challenging task due to its large scale and complexity. To deal with the challenge, progress measurement must be estimated reliably and effectively. Many researchers have presented progress measurement methods, but previous studies are limited to single or several types of facilities. Thus, they have difficulties to being applied to mega construction projects that covers multiple facilities. To overcome the limitations, this paper proposes a progress measurement framework considering characteristics of mega construction projects. The framework consists of four phases : development of Work Breakdown Structure, determination of weights of main facilities and sub facilities, and calculation of the integrated progress rate. To validate the proposed approach, a case study of Sejong city in Korea was performed. The results of the case study showed the applicability of the proposed framework and confirmed that it enables to reliably measure progress rate of mega construction projects.

  • The construction Progress is widely used 3s a critical index for effective project management. However, the methods, structure, data, and accuracy of progress measurement may vary depending on specific characteristics of the project, organization, or location. Even in an organization, different projects may utilize different measurement methods to effectively achieve their own management purpose. The excessive effort required to manipulate very detailed progress data is also an issue Therefore the purpose of this study is to dove]op an automated progress measurement model utilizing standard progress measurement package (SPMP).

  • Almost 40 years have been passed since the CPM was introduced to the construction industry in Korea. However most of construction projects in Korea do not prepare the CPM schedule neither operate it after established manually, as well as still depend on the Bar-chart schedule only. One of these reasons is because the CPM schedule does not reflect the site works realistically, it makes so difficult to recognize the actual progress clearly in visual format, and it is impossible to integrate and manage the time and cost oriented work progresses effectively. This paper proposes new concept of progress management that is able to integrate and manage the time oriented schedule progress and earned value oriented cost progress while maintaining the merits of CPM although the CPM schedule summarized automatically within a schedule hierarchy by the BDM that is a new CPM technique. We expect that this concept could make the applications of CPM technique to the domestic construction industry popular and help the advancement of the construction management in Korea as well.

  • Reliable progress management at construction requires integrated information of cost and schedule, and information is used as a basis for project performance measurement. However, separate handling of cost and schedule information at construction projects makes objective measurement more difficult and decreases management productivity due to additional works for breaking down bill of quantities into corresponding activities. Recently, research related to BIM addresses issues on effective progress management based on BIM with incorporation of daily progress management. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to propose information model for daily progress rate and budgeted cost of work performed by utilizing BTM-based quantity and location information.

  • In construction projects, it is very important to evaluate the performance of works in comparison with the cost and schedule plans. So, on the first of July, 2000, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation announced the EVMS will be applied in public sector soon. However there are still many arguments about how to establish the Performance Measurement Baseline(PMB) and how to evaluate the progress with accuracy. And many people confuse the meaning of EVMS with that of cost and schedule management. So, the purpose of this research is to propose the new useful methods to set up the PMB and to assess the exact progress in consideration of cost, schedule, and float time for successful implementation of EVMS.

  • Construction projects include risks due to uncertain factors, so it's important to repeatedly evaluate the performance of on-going work in all aspects of the projects. But construction projects are usually managed focusing on the results of projects. Moreover, cost and schedule are managed separately even though the efficiency of integrated management is very high. Recently many researches about cost and schedule integration methods are in progress according to the increasing of interest and EVMS (Earned Value Management System). Though researchers comment and propose many methods, it's hard to find example to apply it to the real project. So, the purpose of this study is to improve a method of construction Progress measurement Based on Earned value Concept by integration of cost and schedule management. It investigates the previous studies, interviews and performs a case study.
