The rapid progress of information technology makes the 3rd digital revolution after the 1st agricultural and the 2nd industrial revolution in the human history. The 1st agricultural-oriented society was based on the land and the labor, the 2nd industrial-oriented society was based on the capital and the technology 3rd knowledge-information-oriented society is where to make profit from creative brainworks and ideas based on human beings. The core of the knowledge-information-oriented society is the digital revolution from digitalizing information such as increase of the various digital contents in geometrical progression through internet.

This paper discusses developments in fashion practice, and fashion education, reviewing developments throughout Asia. Reference is made to the historic origins of the clothing trade and efforts made on behalf of industry to educate its personnel. Current challenges are addressed, and a case study based on experience in Asia is provided.

To study the clothing names has been one of the research subjects in the history of clothing since the name could be the basic tool to understand the clothing. In the past, the name of clothing were used in Chinese character which is hieroglyphic. Each character of Chinese has special meaning. They had been changed into Korean after Korean characters were invented. During the period when they were changed into Korean, some of them retained the original meaning while others widened the original meaning. Some of them even translated into totally different meaning.

This research has for its object to look carefully into the peculiarity of the color of the costume in the Korean culture by revealing the characteristic and the idea of the color being discovered in the Korean basic culture, which has the majority of the Korean people. The scope of the basic culture was divided into folk belief, folk game and folk play. Within these limits, the colors of the dress, accessories, instruments were extracted by comparing with the naked eye in NCS Color System. For the analysis of hue and tone the secondary dimensional analysis using NCS color system and the three-dimensional analysis using the software, COLOR 3D Version 2.0, were done.

Lamaism is a Mahayana with strong shaman characteristics in Tibet and Mongolia. It was established through settlement of Esoteric Buddhism, based on Indian Buddhism, transferred to Tibet, mixed with a traditional Tibetan religion Bon which emphasizes shamanism, conducts Tantric and shaman rituals. One of the rituals, Tsam, is a dance drama for protection of Buddhism and enlightenment of the followers in which the monks perform in mask.

This report is a study of designs embroidered in rank badges of military and civil officials' uniform in old China. Rank badges, or Bo(補) in Chinese, which are attached to officials' uniform, are embroidered designs on the breast and the back for people to easily discern between military and civil officials as well as between higher ranking and lower ranking officials. Bo(補) was used for various social stratum including king, queen, king's brothers, prince, and princess. This study, however, is focused on design of Bo(補) attached to the uniform of military and civil officials. This study first started with the origin of Bo(補) design, woven symbols in patches on the breast and the back of Gibsa(集史)'s uniform during the Yuan(元) dynasty. Lastly, this study reviewed and analyzed design of Bo(補) for military and civil officials during the Ming(明) and Qing(淸) dynasties.

A Study of the Four Coloured Uniform Regulation During the Reign of King K wangjong in Goryeo PeriodDuring the reign of King Kwangjong(光宗) in Goryeo(高麗) there was specific purpose to decide that the government officials should have worn their uniforms in four colors. The main purpose had been to establish new bureaucracy around royal authority. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze four coloured official uniform regulation(四色公服制) concerning the bureaucracy at the time.

This study attempts to research and analyze the khaki color, which is regarded to be the most difficult to be conveyed in general. In so doing, this study aims to contribute to better understanding of the khaki color. First of all, I research definitions of the khaki, which originates from the color of "dirt", and set a boundary of this color. Second, I examine the pigments from plants that produce the color of khaki. In addition, based on the survey results and the color scheme dictionary, I analyze the characteristics of the khaki, from the cognitive perspective, and its attributes as a neutral color.

The currently used personal color analysis is mostly based on Westerners' skin colors. As a result, the suggested colors are often not suitable for Korean people's skin colors. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to develop 'Personal Color Design System(PCDS)' that can suggest fashionable colors suitable for Korean skin colors and personal color types. For this, the system was verified by customers testing and questionnaires, while the system modification and complementary measures were conducted.

For a long time, Saekdong has been recognized as the quintessential expression of the beauty reflecting the cultural sense of Korean people.

Stage costumes perform not only the instrumental but also the expressive functions. The major goal of this study is to develop the functional and aesthetic costume designs for musical players considering the characteristics of instruments, players' postures. This study will increase the related market size and the players' choices and move aurally and visually more. The scope of this study is restricted to the musical costumes for female adult soloists playing the wind and string instruments. This study is composed of theory research, empirical research and manufacturing a real costume.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the trends of, the ugliness images expressed in Modern Make-up from 1995 to 2003, especially focusing on color, and to enlarge the possibility of expressions through formative elements such as shape·texture·details and to anticipate the prospect of the Make-up in the future. The results can be summarized as follows. First, Ugliness is the most negative aesthetic value which is lack of beauty, and ultimate beauty is achieved through the combination of beauty with ugliness. Second, the images of ugliness have been expressed in paintings and fashion. The 20 century paintings, representing the ugly shape are extremely exaggerated with yellow, red, black, blue, white, green. The shape have been distorted, deformed, destroyed. And Pluralism and De-constructivism with its traits of indeterminacy have become the background of ugliness images in Fashion.

Along with post-structuralism, which aims at diversification and senses deconstructionalism is a characteristic of this time post-structuralism is based upon the deconstructionalism. The purpose of this study was to find out apparel fit satisfaction according to item (jacket, pants, skirt) by body perception and body satisfaction. This research was done by a survey method. Statistical analysis such as frequency, a percentage, arithmetic average, standard deviation and Pearson's correlation, Crosstabs(Chi-square) were used for data analysis.

Recently, street fashion has been regularly introduced in many fashion media because both consumers and marketers began to recognize the importance of street fashion as a meaningful and objective fashion information source. As the globalization proceeds in fashion field,' the street fashion informations in major cities which has led world fashion trends become more influential on domestic fashion, but little concern has been paid on it. This study classified women's street fashion in 4 major world fashion cities such as Paris, London, New York, Tokyo and identified style characteristics of each group. For data collection, 795 front-view photos were selected from the two fashion trade publication 'STREET' and 'VIEW' which has introduced street fashion photos in those cities from 1996. Classification process went on three stages: sorting, naming and grouping. 49 undergraduate students were divided into 12 teams and about 80 photos were given to each team to sort into several sub-groups by overall images or common style characteristics. Then each sub-group was named according to common images or characteristics. Final groups came out after grouping each sub-group with a similar or same title together. For each group, common style characteristics were analyzed.

The distinctive design of apparel product is the crucial factor that provides the powerful competitive advantage and customer satisfaction. However, knock-offs or copycats easily copy the design of apparel product and its problem tends to be assented in real world. Design right is one of intellectual property rights that would be produced by intellectual activity and the appropriate means to establish the exclusive rights to the design should be established. Legal protection to the design right is the system that can prelude copycats from eroding an exclusive position in the market place. The present study was to analyze the trend of registration of design rights in apparel products and to point out problems of current protection law to design.

The purposes of this study were to examine the purchasing and using behaviors of cosmetics according to women's consumption propensity. A self administered Questionnaire was used and the subjects were 600 women of 20s and 30s in Jeonbuk Province. The data collecting periods were July, 2003. Means, percentages, and frequency were calculated. And factor analysis, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, and Chi-square test were done by use of SPSS PC (Ver. 10.0).

The scarf fashion is boomed in streets from last season. Especially, luxury scarf is that popularity accessories in twenties women with a tendency of emphasizing wealth. The popularity of scarf can easily be recognized on the streets and on the displays in department. And the character brand of new basic feminie style is suggested the scarf as an accessary for coordination. It is appeared that animal prints, ethnic flower pattern prints and geometrical patterns for scarf. As the trend of fashion trade is diversified with classic and vintage, the design and style of scarf is satisfied. So there is a purpose of studying fashion scarf presentation to use scarf more efficiently.

Rapid changes in the period has altered the changes in consumption. The concept of consumption changed from simply being supplied with goods to the one that considers values' or buying images such as services and information along with the product. Diversification or individuality of values caused demands in store differentiation for companies in industrial activities and due to such demands, a necessity of visual merchandising needed for strategic image plans has been emphasized. Therefore, an objective of this research was to clarify differences of demographical variables of clothing purchase behavior according to the response level of department store VMD and to investigate about the correlations with clothing purchase behavior to provide fundamental guidelines in establishing strategies of VMD according to consumption motivation as a new perception about life style.
