  • In this note, a proof of Utkin's theorem is presented for a MI(Multi Input) uncertain linear case. The invariance theorem with respect to the two transformation methods so called the two diagonalization methods are proved clearly and comparatively for MI uncertain linear systems. With respect to the sliding surface transformation and the control input transformation, the equation of the sliding mode i.e., the sliding surface is invariant. Both control inputs have the same gains. By means of the two transformation methods the same results can be obtained. Through an illustrative example and simulation study, the usefulness of the main results is verified.

  • In this note, a complete proof of Utkin's theorem is presented for SI(single input) uncertain nonlinear systems. The invariance theorem with respect to the two nonlinear transformation methods so called the two diagonalization methods is proved clearly, comparatively, and completely for SI uncertain nonlinear systems. With respect to the sliding surface and control input transformations, the equation of the sliding mode i.e., the sliding surface is invariant, which is proved completely. Through an illustrative example and simulation study, the usefulness of the main results is verified. By means of the two nonlinear transformation methods, the same results can be obtained.

  • This paper deals with the maneuver detection and target tracking problem in uncertain parameter systems using a robust{{{{ { H}_{ } }}}} FIR filter to improve the unacceptable tracking performance due to the parametr uncertainty. The tracking filter used in the current paper is based on the robust{{{{ { H}_{ } }}}} FIR filter proposed by Kwon et al. [1,2] to estimate the state signal in uncertain systems with parameter uncertainty, and the basic scheme of the proposed method is the input estimation approach. Tracking performance of the maneuver detection and target tracking method proposed is compared with other techniques, Bogler allgorithm [4] and FIR tracking filter [2], via some simulations to examplify the good tracking performance of the proposed method over other techniques.

  • In this paper, a learning control problem is formulated for cooperating multiple-robot manipulators with uncertain system parameters. The commonly held object is also assumed to be unknown and the multiple-robots themselfs experience uncertain operating conditions such as link parameters, viscous friction parameters, suctions, actuator bias, and etc. Under these conditions, the learning controllers designed for learning of uncertain parameters and robot control inputs for multiple-robot systems are shown to drive the multiple-robot manipulators to follow the desired Cartesian trajectory with the desired internal forces to the unknown object.

  • Guaranteed cost control is a method applicable to a class of systems with uncertain parameters that guarantees an upper bound of the cost functional. This paper is concerned with a matrix decomposition technique used to yield a reasonable upper bound of the cost functional for a finite-time LQ regulator problem. The uncertain linear systems dealt with in this paper are described by a set of state equations of single-input phase-variable canonical form which contain unknown but bounded uncertain parameters.

  • This paper presents an LMI-based method to design an integral sliding mode controller for an uncertain system with a polytopic model. The uncertain system under consideration may have mismatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix as well as in the input matrix. Using LMIs we derive an existence condition of a sliding surface. And we give a switching feedback control law.

  • This paper describes a method to design a guaranteed cost controller for a system with uncertain parameters. The design procedure consists of defining an arbitrary function which satisfies certain condition and minimizing it over the control input. When the method is applied to a class kof linear systems with uncertain parameters, a Riccati equation with additional terms results. A simple example is presented to illustrate the usefulness of this method.

  • Uncertain time delay happens when the process reads the sensor data and sends the control input to the plant located at a remote site in distributed control system. As in the case of data network using TCP/IP, VDN that integrates both device network and data network has uncertain tim e delay. Uncertain time delay can cause degradation in stability of distributed control system based on VDN. This paper investigates the transmission characteristic of VDN and suggests a control scheme based on the Smith's predictor to minimize the effect of uncertain time delay. The validity of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated with tracking position control of experiments.

  • We consider single-input nonlinear systems with unknown unmodelled time-varying parameters or disturbances which are bounded. The main goal is to identify classes of uncertain systems for which the control exist and to provide constructive design procedures. Assuming that the undisturbed nominal system ( ,g) is partially state feedback linearizable, that a strict triangularity condition, a linear parametrization condition, and {{{{ { G}_{r-1 } }}}} hold for the uncertain terms, and that some condition is satisfied in the transformed partially linear system, we design an adaptive regulating dynamic control. At first, we identify classes of nonlinear uncertain systems and give a systematic procedure for the design of a robust regulation for the nonlinear systems.

  • The uncertain integral linear system is the integral-augmented uncertain system to improve the resultant performance. In this note, for a MI(Multi Input) uncertain integral linear case, Utkin's theorem is proved clearly and comparatively. With respect to the two transformations(diagonalizations), the equation of the sliding mode is invariant. By using the results of this note, in the SMC for MIMO uncertain integral linear systems, the existence condition of the sliding mode on the predetermined sliding surface is easily proved. The effectiveness of the main results is verified through an illustrative example and simulation study.
