This study developed and implemented a teaching · learning process plan for Home Economics in middle school by converging Habermas's three systems of action. It also examined the effect of the class through the evaluation of students and teachers who participated in the class. This study developed 10 sessions for a teaching and learning process plan by converging three systems of action and reconstructing learning elements related to 'balanced meal plan' and 'food choice' according to the practical action teaching model. After class, we surveyed the degree of help for students, analyzed the learning activity sheets, and analyzed the reflection journals of teachers to evaluate the effects of the class. This class was found to be the most helpful in practicing the healthy dietary life of students, expanding their thoughts, understanding learning contents, and helping them change their lives. As a result of analyzing the learning activity sheet, students gained enlightenment by reflecting and evaluating their action through the class; in addition, changes in interest, awareness, and action appeared. Through the convergence of three systems of action, teachers who practiced the class criticized and realized the act that students were unconsciously accepted. In addition, it confirmed the possibility that students could change their lives, family and society by promoting optimal nutrition and health for a good life that pursues the best good.
The purpose of this study is to find out the degree of practice in three systems of action in home life of female and male middle school students who have learned the home economics under the 6th curriculum revision for three years since 1995 by teacher's major, student's sex, help from the family members, mothers' job, and the form of family. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The practice in systems of action in home life is relatively low in the communicative action, but is high unexpectably in emancipative action. 2) Depending on teacher's major, the practice in systems of action in home life of the students who have been taught by home economics majored teacher is high in communicative action but there is no significant difference in emancipative action between two groups. 3) The r]practice of female students is high in family, clothing, and housing areas, but therer is no significant difference between female and male students in resources and consuming, and food and nutrition areas of home life. 4) The more the family members help the students, the higher their practice in systems of action in home life. 5) The practice in all systems of action in home life has no significant difference between mothers with jobs and mothers without jobs. 6) There is no significant difference in systems of action in home life among groups by forms of family. 7) The result of multiple regression analysis shows that the helf from family members and sex of student independent variables have relative influence in the practice of home life.

The purpose of this study was to provide fundamental information for the determination on secondary Home Economics educations contents on food/nutrition. For this purpose, the Home Economics teachers’needs assessment was performed in view of three(technical, interpretive, emancipatory) systems of action. Questionnaire survey was performed. Among 564 questionnaires sent to Home Economics teachers of 396 secondary school selected by systemic random sampling 362 questionnaires were received and 335 questionnaires were analyzed for this study. As a statistical tool, SPSS/PC(sup)+ was used to analyze frequency, mean, standard deviation, T-test and ANOVA. The major findings in this study were as followings: 1. The most important system of action Home Economics teachers recognized on the contents of food/nutrition was interpretive action, followed by emancipatory action. Technical action was turned out to be the least important system of action. 2. Home Economics teachers recognized that the content of interpretive action was the most achieved action in the text book. The least achieved action was emancipatory action, and the middle was technical action. 3. The needs related to contents of emancipatory action was the highest, followed by interpretive action. The lowest needs was the contents related to technical action. 4. Home Economics teacher’s personal background and situation variables make no difference in the importance, achievement in the text book, and the needs of food/nutrition contents.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the dietary life units of Korean and American high school home economics textbook according to Habermas's three systems of action and to find out how the three systems of action are reflected in the learning objectives and activity tasks of the textbook. To achieve this purpose, this study analyzed the learning objectives and activity tasks of the dietary life units in the textbooks of 'technology & home economics' and 'home economics science' in Korea, and 'succeeding in life and career' in America using a content analysis technique based on Habermas's three systems of action. In analyzing the content, each learning objective or activity was matched with one of the three systems of action by examining the context. In some cases, two or more systems of actions were integrated in one activity. This is a case where a series of learning tasks that involve different action system were grouped into one. The numbers of learning objectives and activities of the units of 'technology & home economics', 'home economics science' textbooks of Korean high schools and 'succeeding in life and career' dietary life of American high schools were 3, 26, and 248, respectively. In Korean textbooks, the percentage of communicative action was highest among the three systems, that is, 66.7% for 'technology & home economics' textbooks and 50% for 'home economics science' textbooks. In comparison technical action was the highest in American textbooks at 66.5%. Activities related to technical action included cooking, conducting research on health and food, or conducting experiments. The activities related to communicative action included role play related to health and table manners, or writing reports after conducting surveys or interviewing professionals. The activities related to emancipative action were to social participation activities such as service project in relation to health and food, or to find problems that occur in dietary life and think about be best solution through practical reasoning.

The purpose of this study was to develop curriculum of the elementary, and secondary school home economics that integrates three systems of action and to prepare a plan for convergence education in home economics curriculum. To achieve this goal, the characteristics of elementary, secondary school dietary curriculum integrating three systems of action, the focus of development, core competencies, and goals were derived through the review of literature. In this study, we set up perennial and sub-practical problems and selected content elements. The contents system of the developed curriculum was modified and supplemented by examining the validity of experts, and the achievement standard of the middle school home economics dietary education curriculum was developed by integrating the three systems of action. The content system of the elementary, and secondary school home economics curriculum that integrated the three systems of action is centered on practical problems, and the perennial problem is 'What should we do to practice healthy dietary life?' There are five areas of this curriculum: 'health and diet', 'food planning', 'food purchase and management', 'cooking', and 'meal', and the scope of curriculum is repeatedly expanded to 'personal and family', and 'social'. The practical problems in the five areas are composed of 10 practical problems in the two dimensions (personal & family, and society), and the practical problems and contents elements are spiralled by applying the principle of integration. The contents of this curriculum were compared with the achievement standards and learning elements of the dietary life in the 2015 elementary school practical arts, middle and high school 'technology & home economics', and the 'home economics science' curriculum. The results showed that the developed curriculum encompassed additional content beyond all the content already included in the 2015 revised curriculum.

This paper presents the strategy for searching a hidden object in an unknown area for using by multiple distributed autonomous robotic systems (DARS). To search the target in Markovian space, DARS should recognize th ε ir surrounding at where they are located and generate some rules to act upon by themselves. First of all, DARS obtain 6-distances from itself to environment by infrared sensor which are hexagonally allocated around itself. Second, it calculates 6-areas with those distances then take an action, i.e., turn and move toward where the widest space will be guaranteed. After the action is taken, the value of Q will be updated by relative formula at the state. We set up an experimental environment with five small mobile robots, obstacles, and a target object, and tried to research for a target object while navigating in a un known hallway where some obstacles were placed. In the end of this paper, we present the results of three algorithms - a random search, an area-based action making process to determine the next action of the robot and hexagon-based Q-learning to enhance the area-based action making process.

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a scale that can grasp the reality of the three systems of action for middle and high school students in home economics. For this purpose, a total of 105 questions, 35 questions for each systems of action, were developed as a 5-point Likert scale in order to measure technical action, communicative action, and emancipative action as preliminary questions by reviewing domestic and international literature related to the three systems of action. The procedure for revising and supplementing the developed preliminary questions by reviewing the content validity of the home economics education expert was executed twice. A preliminary survey was conducted on middle and high school students with 70 developed preliminary questions, and 166 copies were collected. As a result of exploratory factor analysis of the collected questionnaires to test the validity of the scale, it was found that 38 questions 7 factors were appropriate. After constructing this survey based on the results of exploratory factor analysis, this survey was conducted on middle and high school students, and 548 copies were collected and a confirmatory factor analysis was performed. A total of 38 questions were finally selected through confirmatory factor analysis, including basic living ability 5 questions, self-management ability 4 questions, information processing ability 4 questions, communication/interpersonal ability 12 questions, critical thinking ability 3 questions, decision-making ability 7 questions, empowerment 3 questions. The Model Fit was χ2=1846.741(p<.001), CFI=0.865, TLI=0.853, RMSEA=0.058, and the Standardized Regression Weights for each question was more than 0.5, so it can be seen as a suitable measurement instrument for measuring the status of the three systems of action of middle and high school students in home economics. The three systems of action scales were found to have significant correlations with self-acceptance, future planning, intimacy, uniqueness, which are sub-factors of the self-identity scale, and social participation scales therefore confirmed that they have recognized concurrent validity.
This study critically appraised the accumulated articles based on the critical science perspective on Korea's home economics education. The 55 articles published from 1993 to 2011 were identified and placed into three categories: Critical science paradigm, practical problem-focused curriculum, and systems of action. The common result across categories was that some authors did not fully understand the concepts of practice, a practical problem-focused curriculum, the practical reasoning process, and the systems of action. A positive outcome of including a critical science perspective in the Korean national curriculum will be seen when systems supporting this perspective, such as those providing more specific information on a critical science perspective and the relevant textbook accreditation standards, are available. We present a proposal based on considerations of a national curriculum, teacher education, relevant philosophical perspectives, and classroom practice.

The purpose of this study was to design curriculum content structure integrating three systems of actions for 2009 revised current home economics curriculum. For the development of content structure and content elements, a development team of two home economics scholars, a cooperating team of three home economics teachers, and an expert team of 15 home economics teachers and professors were organized. Phase 1 of curriculum development was developed by integrating three systems of actions with traditional home economics content areas of clothing, food, housing, consumption, and family by the development team. It is examined by the cooperating team and in phase 2 is recommended to build matrix of units of the current curriculum and the three systems of actions. The final phase of curriculum development illustrated a content structure integrating the sub-units of 2009 revised current curriculum and the three systems of action following the expert group's professional opinion.

The purpose of this study was to develop a Home Economics curriculum for high school students based on practical problems focusing on Food and Nutrition. This study developed practical-problem based approach to curriculum development. This curriculum provided a series of the objectives, contents, learning activities, and assessments. The objectives were divided into process objectives and content objectives. The objectives focused on three systems of action which were technical action, communicative action, and emancipatory action. The contents of this curriculum focused on three practical problems; 1) What should I do regarding my well-being\ulcorner ; 2) What should I do regarding my family’s well-being\ulcorner ; 3) What should I do regarding my society’s well-being\ulcorner The cooperative learning strategies were mainly used in this curriculum.
