  • About the orthogonal Hadamard matrix announced by Hadamard in France in 1893, Professor Moon Ho Lee newly defined it as Center Weight Hadamard in 1989 and announced it, and discovered the Jacket matrix in 1998. The Jacket matrix is a generalization of the Hadamard matrix. In this paper, we propose a method of obtaining the Symmetric Jacket matrix, analyzing important properties and patterns, and obtaining the Jacket matrix's determinant and Eigenvalue, and proved it using Eigen decomposition. These calculations are useful for signal processing and orthogonal code design. To analyze the matrix system, compare it with DFT, DCT, Hadamard, and Jacket matrix. In the symmetric matrix of Galois Field, the element-wise inverse relationship of the Jacket matrix was mathematically proved and the orthogonal property AB=I relationship was derived.

  • Accuracy of the scaling function is very crucial in wavelet theory, or correspondingly, in the study of wavelet filter banks. We are mainly interested in vector-valued filter banks having matrix factorization and indicate how to choose block central symmetric matrices to construct multi-wavelets with suitable accuracy.

  • In this paper, the formulas for calculating the extremal ranks and inertias of the Hermitian least squares solutions to matrix equation AX = B are established. In particular, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existences of the positive and nonnegative definite solutions to this matrix equation are given. Meanwhile, the least squares problem of the above matrix equation with Hermitian R-symmetric and R-skew symmetric constraints are also investigated.

  • We propose new parallelizable block incomplete factorization preconditioners for a symmetric block-tridiagonal H-matrix. Theoretical properties of these block preconditioners are compared with those of block incomplete factorization preconditioners for the corresponding comparison matrix. Numerical results of the preconditioned CG(PCG) method using these block preconditioners are compared with those of PCG method using a standard incomplete factorization preconditioner to see the effectiveness of the block incomplete factorization preconditioners.

  • We propose a variant of parallel block incomplete factorization preconditioners for a symmetric block-tridiagonal H-matrix. Theoretical properties of these block preconditioners are compared with those of block incomplete factoriztion preconditioners for the corresponding somparison matrix. Numerical results of the preconditioned CG(PCG) method using these block preconditioners are compared with those of PCG using other types of block incomplete factorization preconditioners. Lastly, parallel computations of the block incomplete factorization preconditioners are carried out on the Cray C90.

  • In a development of efficient primal-dual interior-points algorithms for self-scaled convex programming problems, one of the important properties of such cones is the existence and uniqueness of "scaling points". In this paper through the identification of scaling points with the notion of "(metric) geometric means" on symmetric cones, we extend several well-known matrix inequalities (the classical L$\ddot{o}$wner-Heinz inequality, Ando inequality, Jensen inequality, Furuta inequality) to symmetric cones. We also develop a theory of spectral geometric means on symmetric cones which has recently appeared in matrix theory and in the linear monotone complementarity problem for domains associated to symmetric cones. We derive Nesterov-Todd inequality using the spectral property of spectral geometric means on symmetric cones.

  • In this paper we develop a general Homotopy method called the Group Homotopy method to solve the symmetric eigenproblem. The Group Homotopy method overcomes notable drawbacks of the existing Homotopy method, namely, (i) the possibility of breakdown or having a slow rate of convergence in the presence of clustering of the eigenvalues and (ii) the absence of any definite criterion to choose a step size that guarantees the convergence of the method. On the other hand, We also have a good approximations of the largest eigenvalue of a Symmetric matrix from Lanczos algorithm. We apply it for the largest eigenproblem of a very large symmetric matrix with a good initial points.

  • The decoding method of Binary BCH Codes using symmetric matrix is proposed in this paper. With this method, the error-locator-polynomial is composed by symmetric matrix which consists of the powers of the unknown X plus the synfromes as its elements. The symmetric matirx can also be represented in terms of the unknown X. But the each coefficients of the error-locator polynomial represents the matirx with the syndromes as its entries. By utilizing this proposed algorithm, the device for decoding circuit of the (63, 45) BCH Code for t=3 has been implemented for demonstration.

  • For the general loading condition and boundary condition, it is very difficult to obtain closed-form solutions for buckling loads and natural frequencies of thin-walled structures because its behaviour is very complex due to the coupling effect of bending and torsional behaviour. Consequently most of previous finite element formulations introduced approximate displacement fields using shape functions as Hermitian polynomials, isoparametric interpoation function, and so on. The purpose of this study is to calculate the exact displacement field of a thin-walled straight beam element with the non-symmetric cross section and present a consistent derivation of the exact dynamic stiffness matrix. An exact dynamic element stiffness matrix is established from Vlasov's coupled differential equations for a uniform beam element of non-symmetric thin-walled cross section. This numerical technique is accomplished via a generalized linear eigenvalue problem by introducing 14 displacement parameters and a system of linear algebraic equations with complex matrices. The natural frequencies are evaluated for the non-symmetric thin-walled straight beam structure, and the results are compared with available solutions in order to verify validity and accuracy of the proposed procedures.
