  • The paper develops a rigorous mathematical framework for the behavior of arch and membrane like structures. Our main goal is to incorporate moving point loads. Both the weak and the strong damping cases are considered. First, we prove the existence and the uniqueness of the solutions. Then it is shown that the solution in the weak damping case is the limit of the strong damping solutions, as the strong damping vanishes. The theory is applied to a car moving on a bridge.

  • Considered here is the first initial boundary value problem for the two-dimensional g-Navier-Stokes equations in bounded domains. We first study the long-time behavior of strong solutions to the problem in term of the existence of a global attractor and global stability of a unique stationary solution. Then we study the long-time finite dimensional approximation of the strong solutions.

  • We obtain spatial-temporal decay rates of weak solutions of incompressible flows in exterior domains. When a domain has a boundary, the pressure term yields difficulties since we do not have enough information on the pressure term near the boundary. For our calculations we provide an idea which does not require any pressure information. We also estimated the spatial and temporal asymptotic behavior for strong solutions.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new iterative scheme for finding a common element of the set of common fixed points of infinite family of nonexpansive mappings and the set of solutions to a generalized equilibrium problem and the set of solutions to a variational inequality problem in a real Hilbert space. Then strong convergence of the scheme to a common element of the three sets is proved. As applications, three new strong convergence theorems are obtained. Our theorems extend important recent results.

  • In this paper we consider the following strongly damped wave equation with variable-exponent nonlinearity utt(x, t) - ∆u(x, t) - ∆ut(x, t) = |u(x, t)|p(x)-2u(x, t), where the exponent p(·) of nonlinearity is a given measurable function. We establish finite time blow-up results for the solutions with non-positive initial energy and for certain solutions with positive initial energy. We extend the previous results for strongly damped wave equations with constant exponent nonlinearity to the equations with variable-exponent nonlinearity.

  • We study a class of quasilinear wave equations with strong and nonlinear viscosity. By using the perturbation method for semilinear parabolic equations, we have established the fundamental results on existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence on data of weak solutions.

  • This paper is concerned with the global asymptotic stability of strong solutions for a class of semilinear evolution equations with nonlocal initial conditions on infinite interval. The discussion is based on analytic semigroups theory and the gradually regularization method. The results obtained in this paper improve and extend some related conclusions on this topic.

  • We study the equation of a membrane with strong viscosity. Based on the variational formulation corresponding to the suitable function space setting, we have proved the fundamental results on existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence on data of weak solutions.
