  • Al-Co-N thin films, Al-Co-N/Al-N and Al-Co-N/Al-Co multilayers containing various amounts of Co content were deposited by using a two-facing targets type dc sputtering (TFTS) system. The films were also annealed successively and isothermally at different annealing temperatures. Irrespective of Co content and preparation methods, all the as-deposited films were observed non-magnetized. It was found that annealing conditions can control the magnetic and electrical properties as well as the microstructure of the films.

  • BaO.nFe$_{2}$O$_{3}$ Powder ferrite magnet was made by sintering process. The purity of the powder were 99.6% far BaO. 99.5% for Fe$_{2}$O$_{3}$, and the grain size 1-3 micron. The Optimum mixing ratio n=4.4 the optimum density 4.8gr/cm$^{3}$ and the optimum second sintering temperature 1260.deg. C was found. The theoretical bloch wall, dimension of domain and energy per unit volume of BaFe$_{12}$O$_{19}$ were compared with pure Fe. Also, the saturation magnetization and maximum energy product were computed.d.d.

  • Planar type thin film inductors have a potential for the application of miniaturized DC-DC converters. For those high current applications, the magnetic film with high current capability is required. The current capability of magnetic films is mainly determined from high saturation magnetization (4$\piM_s$) as well as large anisotropy field $(H_k)$. We fabricated a double rectangular spiral thin film inductor which consist of magnetic layer, coil and insulator. Highest inductance values as well as best frequency characteristics can be obtained from 5 MHz and quality factor exhibit about 7.

  • This thesis deal with ferroelectric and ferrimagnetic materials, PZT/Ferrite ceramics. We conducted test of magnetical and electrical measurement. From this measurement, We obtained tunability and we can control characteristic impedance($Z_0$) from permeability($\mu$) and dielectric constant($\varepsilon$) for impedance matching in transmission line.

  • The magnetic properties of aluminium anodized film in which Co-Fe alloy electrodeposited are investigated with regard to the alloy composition of magnetic films. The electrodeposited Co-Fe particles are confirmed to be single phase Co-Fe alloys by X-ray diffractions. The coercive force as well as the magnetic anisotropy energy can be controlled by changing the composition of the alloy. Magneticfilms having high saturation magnetization and high coercive force were obtained.

  • Iron nitride alloy films prepared in the form of laminated ${(Fe_{97}Al_3)}_{85}N_{15}/Al_2O_3$ multilayers (Ml's) due to excellent soft magnetic properties and high saturation magnetization [1, 2] are very promising materials for poles and shields in ultra high density thin film heads. The present work concerns the ferromagnetic (FM) coupling effect as a function of the thickness of $Al_2O_3$ spacers by analysis of the magnetic domain structure.

  • The conventional method to deal with current transformer (CT) Saturation is over dimensioning of the core so that CTs can carry up to 20 times the rated current without exceeding 10% ratio correction. However, this not only reduces the sensitivity of relays as some errors may still be present in the secondary current when a severe fault occurs, but also increases the CT size. This paper presents an algorithm for compensating the distorted secondary current of iron-cored CTs under CT saturation using the magnetization (flux-current : .lambda.-i) curve and its performance is examined for fault currents encountered on a typical 345[kV] Korean transmission system, under a variety of different system and fault conditions. In addition, the results of hardware implementation of the algorithm using a TMS320C10 digital signal processor are also presented. The proposed algorithm can improve the sensitivity of relays to low level internal faults, maximize the stability of relays for external faults, and reduce the required CT core cross-section significantly. • We report the structural, morphological and magnetic properties of the $Ni_{70}Mn_{30}$ alloy prepared by Planetary Ball Mill method. Keeping the milling time constant for 30 h, the effect of different ball milling speeds on the synthesis and magnetic properties of the samples was thoroughly investigated. A remarkable variation in the morphology and average particle size was observed with the increase in milling speed. For the samples ball milled at 200 and 300 rpm, the average particle size and hence magnetization were decreased due to the increased lattice strain, distortion and surface effects which became prominent due to the increase in the thickness of the outer magnetically dead layer. For the samples ball milled at 400, 500 and 600 rpm however, the average particle size and hence magnetization were increased. This increased magnetization was attributed to the reduced surface area to volume ratio that ultimately led to the enhanced ferromagnetic interactions. The maximum saturation magnetization (75 emu/g at 1 T applied field) observed for the sample ball milled at 600 rpm and the low value of coercivity makes this material useful as soft magnetic material.

  • The changes of magnetic properties in neutron irradiated F $e_{81}$ $B_{13.5}$S $i_{3.5}$ $C_2$ amorphous ribbon were studied by X-ray diffraction, hysteresis loop, temperature dependence of magnetization and complex permeability. The fluences of thermal ( $n_{th}$) and fast ( $n_{f}$) neutron were 6.95$\times$10$^{18}$ $n_{th}$ c $m^{-2}$ and 4.56$\times$10$^{16}$ $n_{f}$c $m^{-2}$ , respectively. The changes of XRD Profiles were not observable at the neutron irradiated sample. The complex permeability spectra showed that the permeability from domain wall motion decreased due to the increase of pinning force against domain motion by the neutron irradiation, and the relaxation frequency of rotational magnetization moved to higher frequency region. The measurement of hysteresis loop showed the increase of magnetic softness, related to rotational magnetization, but saturation magnetization was decreased in neutron irradiation sample. The Curie temperature was decreased in the neutron irradiated sample.e.e.e.
