We construct projective embeddings of horospherical varieties of Picard number one by means of Fano varieties of cones over rational homogeneous varieties. Then we use them to give embeddings of smooth horospherical varieties of Picard number one as linear sections of rational homogeneous varieties.

By using the finite projective geometry method, the separating properties of linear constant-weight codes are presented. An algorithm is given for computing the cardinality of separating coordinate positions of certain disjoint codeword sets of linear constant-weight codes.

This paper concerns the relation between the degree and the projective dimension of linear systems on curves. We generalize Clifford's theorem and its improvement by Coppens and G. Martens and classify the special curves for our problem, and estimate their gonality.

The $(\alpha, \beta)$-metric is a Finsler metric which is constructed from a Riemannian metric $\alpha$ and a differential 1-form $\Beta$; it has been sometimes treat in theoretical physics. In particular, the projective flatness of Finsler space with a metric $L^2 = 2\alpha\beta$ is considered in detail.

We show that the Fourier-Laplace series of a distribution on the sphere is uniformly Cesaro-summable to zero on a neighborhood of a point if and only if this point does not belong to the support of the distribution. Similar results on the ball and on the real projective space are also proved.

For any even integer n, we show that there exists a log Calabi-Yau threefold (Y, D) such that the Euler characteristic of Y is n. Furthermore Y is smooth and D is smooth anticanonical section of Y that is a K3 surface.

There are some sufficient or necessary conditions about projectivity for toric varieties. We consider one of them and state some conditions about projectivity for a 3-dimensional compact nonsingular case which is obtained from a projective one by nonsingular equivariant blow-down.
