  • In image-based gait recognition systems, physical factors, such as the camera angle and the lens distortion, and environmental factors such as illumination determines the performance of recognition. In this paper we present a robust gait recognition method by compensating various types of image distortions. The proposed method is compared with existing gait recognition algorithm with consideration of both physical and environmental distortion factors in the input image. More specifically, we first present an efficient compensation algorithm of image distortion by using the projective transform, and test the feasibility of the proposed algorithm by comparing the recognition performances with and without the compensation process. Proposed method gives universal gait data which is invariant to both distance and environment. Gained data improved gait recognition rate about 41.5% in indoor image and about 55.5% in outdoor image. Proposed method can be used effectively in database(DB) construction, searching and tracking of specific objects.

  • For a nondegenerate projective curve C ⊂ ℙr of degree d, it was shown that the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity reg(C) of C is at most d - r + 2. And the curves of maximal regularity which attain the maximally possible value d - r + 2 are completely classified. In this short note, we first collect several known results about curves of maximal regularity. We provide a new proof and some partial results. Finally we suggest some interesting questions.

  • The object of the present paper is to introduce a new curvature tensor, named generalized quasi-conformal curvature tensor which bridges conformal curvature tensor, concircular curvature tensor, projective curvature tensor and conharmonic curvature tensor. Flatness and symmetric properties of generalized quasi-conformal curvature tensor are studied in the frame of (k, ${\mu}$)-contact metric manifolds.

  • A complex n-dimensional Kaehlerian manifold of constant holomorphic sectional curvature c is called a comples space form, which is denoted by $M_n(c)$. A complete and simply connected complex space form consists of a complex projective space $P_nC$, a complex Euclidean space $C^n$ or a complex hyperbolic space $H_nC$, according as c > 0, c = 0 or c < 0. The induced almost contact metric structure of a real hypersurface M of $M_n(c)$ is denoted by $(\phi, \zeta, \eta, g)$.

  • Niebergall and Ryan posed many open problems on real hypersurfaces in complex space forms. One of them is "Are there any Ricci-parallel real hypersurfaces in complex projective space $P_2C$ or complex hyperbolic space $H_2C$\ulcorner" The purpose of present paper is to prove the nonexistence of such hypersurfaces.

  • We research properties of analytic functions which are exponentially decreasing or increasing. Also we show that the space of test functions is dense in the space of extended Fourier hyper-functions, and that the Fourier transform of the space of extended Fourier hyperfunctions into itself is an isomorphism and Parseval's inequality holds.

  • We derive in the paper the tensor product functor -${\otimes}_R$- by using proper $\mathcal{GP}_C$-resolutions, where C is a semidualizing module. After giving several cases in which different relative homologies agree, we use the Pontryagin duals of $\mathcal{G}_C$-projective modules to establish a balance result for such relative homology over a Cohen-Macaulay ring with a dualizing module D.

  • We determine the largest integer i such that $0 and the coefficient of $t^{i}$ is odd in the polynomial $(1+t+t^{2}+{\cdots}+t^{n})^{n+1}$. We apply this to prove that the co-index of the tangent bundle over $FP^{n}$ is stable if $2^{r}{\leq}n<2^{r}+\frac{1}{3}(2^{r}-2)$ for some integer r.
