  • The current knowledge-based society constantly requires teachers to enhance the level of their professional development, which underscores the importance of pre- and in-service teacher training for content do-mains. Most of previous studies designed to investigate the in-service teacher training have been quantitatively conducted with the use of survey analysis and not many efforts have been made to identify any possible weaknesses of teacher training for mathematics education. The present investigation, made to fill the gaps, attempted to describe and interpret teacher training programs for mathematics education using in-depth in-terviews, a form of qualitative research approach. Together with the finding that the degree of classroom teachers' approval for their training was not high for various reasons, the study proposes ways to improve teacher training programs for mathematics education so as to change mathematics classrooms for the better.

  • Since the present training system of Korean teacher librarians is not adequate to strengthen their expertise, the training system should be changed. The purpose of this study is to suggest an improvement of the system, which prescribes their curriculums. To do this, first of all, the requirements for being given a national teacher certification are explored. Secondly, three major previous studies are reviewed. As a result, three subjects have been added to the present curriculum which consists presently of eight subjects. The added subjects are library and information education, information literacy and collaboration and collection development.

  • This paper proposes a novel approach for training an unsupervised depth estimation algorithm. The objective of unsupervised depth estimation is to estimate pixel-wise distances from camera without external supervision. While most previous works focus on model architectures, loss functions, and masking methods for considering dynamic objects, this paper focuses on the training framework to effectively use depth cue. The main loss function of unsupervised depth estimation algorithms is known as the photometric error. In this paper, we claim that direct depth cue is more effective than the photometric error. To obtain the direct depth cue, we adopt the technique of knowledge distillation which is a teacher-student learning framework. We train a teacher network based on a previous unsupervised method, and its depth predictions are utilized as pseudo labels. The pseudo labels are employed to train a student network. In experiments, our proposed algorithm shows a comparable performance with the state-of-the-art algorithm, and we demonstrate that our teacher-student framework is effective in the problem of unsupervised depth estimation.

  • With the change of society and the rapid development of science and technology, the direction of future education and the functions of schools have changed. Also the roles and tasks of teachers are changing rapidly. As Germany entered into the 21st century, many discussions let to a consensus on the direction of future education and schooling withholding a sense of responsibility and solidarity for the education of all members of the society. As a result, standards for the training of general teachers and teachers for special education were presented. The purpose of this study is to compare the standard contents of teacher training for special education in Germany with the qualification criteria for special school, teachers in Korea, focusing on evaluation and giving as well detailed information on the examination of teachers for special school, as on basic subjects for the qualification of special school teachers for special education in Korea will be explored. As a result, the content of this study can be summarized by four items. The first one is dealing with the creation of a consciousness of solidarity and a sense of responsibility among the members of the society for the future education and the role of schools and teachers. The second item ist about including the capacity and competence of teachers in the restructuring of the school and in the minimum standards of teacher training for special education. Third, the specificity of each state (provincial and local) is considered in the content of standards for teacher training. Fourth, standards for teacher training are linked to each other, previous teacher education, trainee teacher education, and current teacher education.

  • In this study, we conducted mathematics teacher training courses for an applying of 'Socratic method' in school mathematics. Teacher training courses were conducted with a total of 3 hours for 68 secondary mathematics teachers. In these courses, we overviewed the characteristics of Socratic method. Moreover we examined the mathematics lessons by Socratic method. And we dealt with the educational examples of Socratic method identified in previous studies. In addition, the survey was conducted before and after the teacher training courses. Through the survey, teachers have an opportunity to check their knowledge on Socratic method and reflect on their mathematics class. Based on the survey response data, we analyzed mathematics teachers' knowledge on Socratic method and the changes in teachers' thinking on their mathematics class. Based on the findings of this study, we proposed three directions of teacher education.

  • The purposes of this research are to develop and to evaluate the teacher training program for enhancing scientific creative problem-solving abilities. For this purpose, by considering previous studies, this study suggested 'scientific creative problem solving process'. In the course of elementary teacher program development, the present study followed Instructional Systems Development stages, where Kirkpatrick's four-step evaluation model was applied for a quality of evaluation. As a result of evaluation, it was found that teachers' recognition of competency to teach the scientific creative problem solving process was increased. In addition, teachers' evalution of the program was positive and their willingness to apply it to the field was found high, which indicated that the training program's applicability to schools would be positive.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the astronomy-related concepts formed by elementary school pre-service teachers and analyze the distribution of misconceptions. The study was conducted on 43 pre-service teachers enrolled in the second year of an elementary teacher training college located in the central region of Korea. As a result of the study, first, pre-service elementary school teachers' misconceptions about astronomy concepts showed a diverse distribution. In particular, pre-service elementary school teachers still had misconceptions regarding seasonal changes, which were pointed out in many previous studies. Second, pre-service elementary school teachers had formed concepts at the level of simple memorization of astronomy concepts and were having difficulty applying the concepts they knew to various cases. Based on these research results, future astronomy-related education should be directed toward understanding astronomical phenomena through the application and application of various cases rather than simple memorization, and astronomy education in teacher training courses and teacher training should also reflect this content.

  • The purpose of this study to analyze correlation for the tendency of mathematics anxiety, traits according to the factors of mathematics anxiety and mathematics attitude depending on the teacher variable through a survey of mathematics anxiety and attitude toward mathematics on teaching mathematics of elementary school teachers. To solve the questions above, sampled 250 elementary school teachers in Daegu province. As a result of the study, mathematics anxiety on teaching is not actually formed a lot. However, the more training experience with mathematics, previous academic career, education career were, the lower mathematics anxiety was. The results showed that mathematics anxiety is affected by previous academic career, training experience with mathematics in particular. In addition, we found that mathematics anxiety is affected by mathematics anxiety in their school, recognition of the ability to explain mathematics contents and attitudes toward mathematics.

  • This study expects that Team Based Project Learning can act positive role to improve pre-service elementary teachers' teaching competence from previous studies. So designing and executing Team Based Project Learning program, I can provide some suggestions to the teaching method for teacher training education. In this study, Team Based Project Learning focuses on the use of history of mathematics in school mathematics. Also from organizing the team to evaluation, I conduct team activity systematically both inside and outside the classroom. The result of this study shows that pre-service elementary teachers' teaching competence has improved and I could identify the positive response about the value of using the history of mathematics and effect of Team Based Project Learning in mathematics learning.

  • We collected survey data from those who have Vocational Training Teachers' Qualification to investigate the workplace characteristics and job satisfaction of the qualified people. Also, this study analyzed the determinants of the Vocational Training Teachers' monthly wages. Statistically Significant variables were male, age, graduated from graduate school, work duration, total work hours, regular workers, and levels of the certification. Since previous studies argued that the levels of the certification did not have effect on the wage, result of this study suggested that the further study and discussions on the effect of the levels of the certification was needed.
