In this paper, the characteristics of ablation processing of the eagle glass by pico-second laser are investigated. The laser ablation is used to process micro forms on materials. The ablation causes little thermal effect and little burr on the surface of eagle glass. In order to examine the characteristics of panic cracks, experiments are conducted under various cutting conditions such as a frequency of 600 kHz, laser powers, scan speeds and number of scan(NS). To minimize the panic cracks, the specimens are heated at $30^{\circ}C$, $45^{\circ}C$, and $60^{\circ}C$ for ten minutes respectively and then they are broken by hands. Laser powers, NS and scan speeds have an effect on glass cutting results. The ablation depths increase with an increase in the laser power and NS whereas the panic cracks decrease with an increase in scan speed. The high temperature on processed specimens reduces the panic cracks and makes good results of laser cutting. The optimal condition for eagle glass laser cutting is found to be at 30 W of laser power, 3 mm/s of scan speed and 500 of NS, respectively.
PURPOSES: The purpose of this study is to propose a new methodology for developing statistical collision models and to show the validation results of the methodology. METHODS: A new modeling method of introducing variables into the model one by one in a multiplicative form is suggested. A method for choosing explanatory variables to be introduced into the model is explained. A method for determining functional forms for each explanatory variable is introduced as well as a parameter estimating procedure. A model selection method is also dealt with. Finally, the validation results is provided to demonstrate the efficacy of the final models developed using the method suggested in this study. RESULTS: According to the results of the validation for the total and injury collisions, the predictive powers of the models developed using the method suggested in this study were better than those of generalized linear models for the same data. CONCLUSIONS: Using the methodology suggested in this study, we could develop better statistical collision models having better predictive powers. This was because the methodology enabled us to find the relationships between dependant variable and each explanatory variable individually and to find the functional forms for the relationships which can be more likely non-linear.
Titanium oxide ($TiO_2$) thin films were fabricated by unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering. The fabricated $TiO_2$ films were treated by oxygen plasma under various RF powers. We investigated the characteristics of oxygen plasma treatment on the surface, structural, and physical properties of $TiO_2$ films prepared at various plasma treatment RF powers. UBM sputtered $TiO_2$ films exhibited higher contact angle value, smooth surface, and amorphous structure. However, the rms surface roughness $TiO_2$ films were rough, and the contact angle value was decreased with the increase of the plasma treatment RF power Also, the hardness value of $TiO_2$ film as physical properties was slightly increased with the increase of the plasma treatment RF power. In the results, the performance of $TiO_2$ films for self cleaning critically depended on the with the plasma treatment RF power.
Silicon nitride thin film deposited with Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition was treated by a nitrogen plasma generated by Inductively Coupled Plasma at room temperature. The treatment was investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy on the surface at various RF source powers at two RF bias powers. The amount of hydrogen was reduced and the surface roughness of the films was decreased remarkably after the plasma treatment. In order to understand the causes, we analyzed the plasma diagnostics by Optical Emission Spectroscopy and Double Langmuir Probe. Based on these analysis results, we show that the nitrogen plasma treatment was effective in the improving of the properties silicon nitride thin film for flexible display.
In [4], the authors show that if ${\mathbb{X}}$ is a ${\mathbb{k}}-configuration$ in ${\mathbb{P}}^2$ of type ($d_1$, ${\ldots}$, $d_s$) with $d_s$ > $s{\geq}2$, then ${\Delta}H_{m{\mathbb{X}}}(md_s-1)$ is the number of lines containing exactly $d_s-points$ of ${\mathbb{X}}$ for $m{\geq}2$. They also show that if ${\mathbb{X}}$ is a ${\mathbb{k}}-configuration$ in ${\mathbb{P}}^2$ of type (1, 2, ${\ldots}$, s) with $s{\geq}2$, then ${\Delta}H_{m{\mathbb{X}}}(m{\mathbb{X}}-1)$ is the number of lines containing exactly s-points in ${\mathbb{X}}$ for $m{\geq}s+1$. In this paper, we explore a standard ${\mathbb{k}}-configuration$ in ${\mathbb{P}}^2$ and find that if ${\mathbb{X}}$ is a standard ${\mathbb{k}}-configuration$ in ${\mathbb{P}}^2$ of type (1, 2, ${\ldots}$, s) with $s{\geq}2$, then ${\Delta}H_{m{\mathbb{X}}}(m{\mathbb{X}}-1)=3$, which is the number of lines containing exactly s-points in ${\mathbb{X}}$ for $m{\geq}2$ instead of $m{\geq}s+1$.
The main objective of the present study is to elucidate a correlation between ship resistances from computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and brake horse powers (BHP) from towing tank in container carriers. The tests were conducted for a range of combinations of trim conditions and speeds. To achieve this goal, 295 cases of numerical simulation have been performed using Star-CCM+ which had been statistically verified to predict ship resistances (Lee & Lee, 2014). Based on the normal distribution of resistance errors in all cases of the 4 container carriers, the confidence interval of numerical error was estimated as [-2.33%,+2.42%] with 95% confidence. The correlation coefficients between the ship resistances of CFD and the brake horse powers of the experiments were higher than 0.93. As a result, the numerical calculation of ship resistances is able to be utilized in order to provide a quick guidance in selection of the optimum loading condition.

Fixed speed wind turbine generators system that uses induction generator as a wind generator has the stability problem similar to a synchronous generator. On the other hand, doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) has the flexibility to control its real and reactive powers independently while being operated in variable speed mode. This paper focuses on a scheme where IG is stabilized by using DFIG during grid fault. In that case, DFIG will be heavily stressed and a remedy should be found out to protect the frequency converter as well as to allow the independent control of real and reactive powers without loosing the synchronism. For that purpose, a crowbar protection switch or DC-link protecting device can be considered. This paper presents a comparative study between two protective schemes, a crowbar circuit connected across the rotor of the DFIG and a protective device connected in the DC-link circuit of the frequency converter. Simulation analysis by using PSCAD/EMTDC shows that both schemes could effectively protect the DFIG, but the latter scheme is superior to the former, because of less circuitry involved.
The major source of noise in the process of transporting liquids is related to the cavitation phenomenon. The control valve noise is mostly dominated by bubble dynamics under cavitating conditions. In this investigation, an orifice configuration is set-up to correlate its flow-field and acoustic signatures with those from a control valve device. The performance and noise characteristics form the orifice configuration in anechoic surroundings were measured to reveal the noise sources depending on pressure differences across the orifice configuration. The sound powers from the orifice configuration are effectively normalized using proposed scaling parameters. Flow-excited dynamic systems for which there is no strong coupling between the flow and the system response can be described using a linear source-filter model. On this assumption, the normalized sound powers can be decomposed of noise source function and a response function. To find noise sources, pressure spectra measured over a range of pressure differences are transformed into the product of two non-dimensional frequency function : $P_{ss}(He,f_{ca},x/D) = F(f_{ca})\;G(He,x/D)$. This scheme of finding noise sources is shown to be applicable to the cavitation noise from the control valve effectively Two kinds of cavitating modes based on our experimental data are found and discussed.

This work proposes a model to solve the problem of Network Coding over a one-session multicast network. The model is based on a system of restrictions that defines the packet flows received in the sink nodes as functions of the outgoing flows from the source node. A multicast network graph is used to derive a directed labeled line graph (DLLG). The successive powers of the DLLG adjacency matrix to the convergence in the null matrix permits the construction of the jump matrix Source-Sinks. In its reduced form, this shows the dependency of the incoming flows in the sink nodes as a function of the outgoing flows in the source node. The emerging packets for each outgoing link from the source node are marked with a tag that is a linear combination of variables that corresponds to powers of two. Restrictions are built based on the dependence of the outgoing and incoming flows and the packet tags as variables. The linear independence of the incoming flows to the sink nodes is mandatory. The method is novel because the solution is independent of the Galois field size where the packet contents are defined.
