  • A supercavitation is modern technology that can be used to reduce the frictional resistance of the underwater vehicle. In the process of reaching the supercavity condition which cavity envelops whole vehicle body, a vehicle passes through transition phase from fully-wetted to supercaviting operation. During this phase of flight, unsteady hydrodynamic forces and moments are created by partial cavity. In this paper, analytical and numerical investigations into the dynamics of supercavitating vehicle in transition phase are presented. The ventilated cavity model is used to lead rapid supercavity condition, when the cavitation number is relatively high. Immersion depth of fins and body, which is decided by the cavity profile, is calculated to determine hydrodynamical effects on the body. Additionally, the frictional drag reduction associated by the downstream flow is considered. Numerical simulation for depth tracking control is performed to verify modeling quality using PID controller. Depth command is transformed to attitude control using double loop control structure.

  • The biological active points (BAP) are known as low resistance spots or good electro-permeable points. In this paper, a new method for BAP detection using the bio-impedance measurement system based on the adaptive frequency tracking filter (AFTF) and the transition event detector is presented. Also, the microcontroller process continuous time demodulation of the modulated signal by multi frequency components using the AFTF. The transition event detector based on the phase space method is applied about each frequency using the BAP equivalent model which is proposed.

  • The phase field model is becoming the model of choice for the theoretical study of the morphologies of crystals growth from the melt. This model provides an alternative approach to the solution of the classical (sharp interface) model of solidification by introducing a new variable, the phase field, Ø, to identify the phase. The variable Ø takes on constant values in the bulk phases and makes a continuous transition between these values over a thin transition layer that plays the role of the classically sharp interface. This results in Ø being governed by a new partial differential equation(in addition to the PDE's that govern the classical fields, such as temperature and composition) that guarantees (in the asymptotic limit of a suitably thin transition layer) that the appropriate boundary conditions at the crystal-melt interface are satisfied. Thus, one can proceed to solve coupled PDE's without the necessity of explicitly tracking the interface (free boundary) that would be necessary to solve the classical (sharp interface) model. Recent advances in supercomputing and algorithms now enable generation of interesting and valuable results that display most of the fundamental solidification phenomena and processes that are observed experimentally. These include morphological instability, solute trapping, cellular growth, dendritic growth (with anisotropic sidebranching, tip splitting, and coupling to periodic forcing), coarsening, recalescence, eutectic growth, faceting, and texture development. This talk will focus on the fundamental basis of the phase field model in terms of irreversible thermodynamics as well as it computational limitations and prognosis for future improvement. • In general, QRS duration represent a distance of Q start and S end point. However, since criteria of QRS duration are vague and Q, S point is not detected accurately, arrhythmia classification performance can be reduced. In this paper, we propose extraction of Q, S start and end point RS feature based on phase transition tracking method after we detected R wave that is large peak of electrocardiogram(ECG) signal. For this purpose, we detected R wave, from noise-free ECG signal through the preprocessing method. Also, we classified QRS pattern through differentiation value of ECG signal and extracted Q, S start and end point by tracking direction and count of phase based on R wave. The performance of R wave detection is evaluated by using 48 record of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. The achieved scores indicate the average detection rate of 99.60%. PVC classification is evaluated by using 9 record of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database that included over 30 premature ventricular contraction(PVC). The achieved scores indicate the average detection rate of 94.12% in PVC.

  • We have investigated the digital bit synchronization problem in baseband communication receiver systems using the Gauss-Markov estimation technique which is equivalent to the weighted least square method. The realized bit synchronizer, including the data detector, processes the input signal two dimensionally into the transition phase and data level under the white Gaussian noise environment. We have confirmed the relization of the bit synchronizer via computer simulation. In addition, we have compared and evaluated the estimation error performance of the proposed method with that of the conventional DTTL method and of the minimum likelihood method.

  • Solvothermal treatment of late transition metal acetylacetonates in a novel medium composed either of pure acetophenone or acetophenone mixtures with amino alcohols offers a general approach to uniform hydrophilic metal nanoparticles with high crystallinity and low degree of aggregation. Both pure metal and mixed-metal particles can be accesses by this approach. The produced materials have been characterized by SEM-EDS, TEM, FTIR in the solid state and by Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis in solutions. The chemical mechanisms of the reactions producing nanoparticles has been followed by NMR. Carrying out the process in pure acetophenone produces palladium metal, copper metal with minor impurity of $Cu_2O$, and NiO. The synthesis starting from the mixtures of Pd and Ni acetylacetonates with up to 20 mol% of Pd, renders in minor yield the palladium-based metal alloy along with nickel oxide as the major phase. Even the synthesis starting from a mixed solution of $Cu(acac)_2$ and $Ni(acac)_2$ produces oxides as major products. The situation is improved when aminoalcohols such as 2-aminoethanol or 2-dimethylamino propanol are added to the synthesis medium. The particles in this case contain metallic elements and pairs of individual metals (not metal alloys) when produced from mixed precursor solutions in this case.

  • Construction workers are engaged in many activities that may expose them to serious hazards, such as falling, unguarded machinery, or being struck by heavy construction equipment. Despite extensive research in building information modeling (BIM) for safety management, current approaches, detecting safety issues after design completion, may limit the opportunities to prevent predictable and potential accidents when decisions of building materials and systems are made. In this respect, this research proposes a proactive approach to detecting safety issues from the early design phase. This research aims to explore accident precursors and integrate them into BIM for tracking safety hazards during the design development process. Accident precursors can be identified from construction incident reports published by OSHA using a text mining technique. Through BIM-integrated accident precursors, construction safety hazards can be identified during the design phase. The results will contribute to supporting a successful transition from the design stage to the construction stage that considers a safe construction workplace. This will advance the body of knowledge about construction safety management by elucidating a hypothesis that safety hazards can be detected during the design phase involving decisions about materials, building elements, and equipment. In addition, the proactive approach will help the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry eliminate occupational safety hazards before near-miss situations appear on construction sites.
