  • Let X be a real normed linear space. Let T : D(T) ⊂ X \longrightarrow X be a uniformly continuous and ∮-strongly quasi-accretive mapping. Let {${\alpha}$n}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} , {${\beta}$n}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} be two real sequences in [0, 1] satisfying the following conditions: (ⅰ) ${\alpha}$n \longrightarrow0, ${\beta}$n \longrightarrow0, as n \longrightarrow$\infty$ (ⅱ) {{{{ SUM from { { n}=0} to inf }}}} ${\alpha}$=$\infty$. Set Sx=x-Tx for all x $\in$D(T). Assume that {u}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} and {v}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} are two sequences in D(T) satisfying {{{{ SUM from { { n}=0} to inf }}}}∥un∥<$\infty$ and vn\longrightarrow0 as n\longrightarrow$\infty$. Suppose that, for any given x0$\in$X, the Ishikawa type iteration sequence {xn}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} with errors defined by (IS)1 xn+1=(1-${\alpha}$n)xn+${\alpha}$nSyn+un, yn=(1-${\beta}$n)x+${\beta}$nSxn+vn for all n=0, 1, 2 … is well-defined. we prove that {xn}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} converges strongly to the unique zero of T if and only if {Syn}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} is bounded. Several related results deal with iterative approximations of fixed points of ∮-hemicontractions by the ishikawa iteration with errors in a normed linear space. Certain conditions on the iterative parameters {${\alpha}$n}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} , {${\beta}$n}{{{{ { }`_{n=0 } ^{$\infty$ } }}}} and t are also given which guarantee the strong convergence of the iteration processes.

  • In the present paper, we observe a relation between fuzzy norms and induced crisp norms on a linear space. We first prove that if $\rho_1,\;\rho_2$ are equivalent fuzzy norms on a linear space, then for every $\varepsilon\in(0.1)$, the induced crisp norms $P_\varepsilon^1,\;and\;P_\varepsilon^2$, respectively are equivalent. Since the converse does not hold, we prove it under some strict conditions. And consider the following theorem proved in [8]: Let $\rho$ be a lower semicontinuous fuzzy norm on a normed linear space X, and have the bounded support. Then $\rho$ is equivalent to the fuzzy norm $\chi_B$ where B is the closed unit ball of X. The lower semi-continuity of $\rho$ is an essential condition which guarantees the continuity of $P_\varepsilon$, where 0 < e < 1. As the last result, we prove that : if $\rho$ is a fuzzy norm on a finite dimensional vector space, then $\rho$ is equivalent to $\chi_B$ if and only if the support of $\rho$ is bounded.

  • We use the fixed alternative theorem to establish Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the quadratic functional equation where functions map a linear space into a complete quasi p-normed space. Moreover, we will show that the continuity behavior of an approximately quadratic mapping, which is controlled by a suitable continuous function, implies the continuity of a unique quadratic function, which is a good approximation to the mapping. We also give a few applications of our results in some special cases.

  • In this Paper, the notion of $\varepsilon$-Birkhoff orthogonality introduced by Dragomir [An. Univ. Timisoara Ser. Stiint. Mat. 29(1991), no. 1, 51-58] in normed linear spaces has been extended to metric linear spaces and a decomposition theorem has been proved. Some results of Kainen, Kurkova and Vogt [J. Approx. Theory 105 (2000), no. 2, 252-262] proved on e-near best approximation in normed linear spaces have also been extended to metric linear spaces. It is shown that if (X, d) is a convex metric linear space which is pseudo strictly convex and M a boundedly compact closed subset of X such that for each $\varepsilon$>0 there exists a continuous $\varepsilon$-near best approximation $\phi$ : X → M of X by M then M is a chebyshev set .

  • The main goal of this paper is to investigate some properties in close connection with the quotient fuzzy norm $ induced by a fuzzy semi-norm $ on a linear space X and the quotient map $q:X{\rightarrow]X/W, $ where W is a subspace of X.

  • Let $D_1,\;D_2$ be convex domains in complex normed spaces $E_1,\;E_2$ respectively. When a mapping $f\;:\;D_1{\rightarrow}D_2$ is holomorphic with f(0) = 0, we obtain some results like the Schwarz lemma. Furthermore, we discuss a condition whereby f is linear or injective or isometry.

  • Let X be a normed linear space, M a subspace of X, and V a subspace of the dual space $X^*$. In [3], we studied the Hahn-Banach extension property in V. Here we give the definition and a characterization of the Hahn-Banach extension property in V.
