A cyclic shop is a production system that repeatedly produces identical sets of jobs, called minimal part sets, in the same loading and processing sequence. We consider a version of cyclic shop where the operations are processed and unloaded within time limits, so called a time window. We model the shop using an event graph model, a class of Petri nets. To represent the time window constraint, we introduce places with negative time delays. From the shop modeling graph, we develop a linear system model based on the max- plus algebra and characterize the conditions on the existence of a stable schedule.

A fuzzy learning algorithm to get the optimal fuzzy rules is presented in this paper. The algorithm introduces a reference model to generate a desired output and a performance index funtion instead of the performance index table. The performance index funtion is a cost function based on the error and error-rate between the reference and plant output. The cost function is minimized by a gradient method and the control input is also updated. In this case, the control rules which generate the desired response can be obtained by changing the portion of the error-rate in the cost funtion. In SISO(Single-Input Single- Output)plant, only by the learning delay, it is possible to experss the plant model and to get the desired control rules. In the long run, this algorithm gives us the good control rules with a minimal amount of prior informaiton about the environment.
This paper explores a model-free value-based approach for solving survival gridworld problem. Survival gridworld problem opens up a challenge involving taking risks to gain better rewards. Classic value-based approach in model-free reinforcement learning assumes minimal risk decisions. The proposed method involves a hybrid on-policy and off-policy updates to experience roll-outs using a modified Q-based update equation that introduces a parametric linear rectifier and motivational discount. The significance of this approach is it allows model-free training of agents that take into account risk factors and motivated exploration to gain better path decisions. Experimentations suggest that the proposed method achieved better exploration and path selection resulting to higher episode scores than classic off-policy and on-policy Q-based updates.
The sliding and/or skidding motions generally occur to a car - like planar mobile robot consisting of four conventional fixed wheels attached on two parallel axles. Thus, the kinematic model of such mobile robot should include the description of skidding and sliding frictional motions. However, most of previous kinematic models do not take these frictional motions into account the kinematic model, as the work done by Muir and Newman [1]. Thus, does it result in least square solution in estimating sensed forward velocity. In this paper, the sensed forward velocity estimation algorithm for mobile robots is proposed, which not only includes those skidding and sliding frictional motions into kinematic model but also utilizes only the minimal set of dependent internal kinematic variables of the mobile robot. Then, ...
One of important factors in designing array-type MEMS resonators is obtaining a desired frequency response function (FRF) within a specific range. In this paper Krylov subspace-based model order reduction using moment-matching with non-zero expansion points is represented to calculate the FRF of array-type resonators. By matching moments at a frequency around a specific range of the array-type resonators, required FRFs can be efficiently calculated with significantly reduced systems regardless of their operating frequencies. In addition, because of the characteristics of moment-matching method, a minimal order of reduced system with a specified accuracy can be determined through an error indicator using successive reduced models, which is very useful to automate the order reduction process and FRF calculation for structural optimization iterations.

In this paper, we consider a periodic preventive maintenance policy in which each preventive maintenance reduces the hazard rate of amount proportional to the failure intensity, which increases since the system started to operate. And the effect of preventive maintenance at each preventive maintenance epoch is different. The expected cost rate per unit time for the proposed model is obtained. We discuss the optimal number N of the periodic preventive maintenance and the optimal period x, which minimize the expected cost rate per unit time and obtain the optimal preventive maintenance schedule for given cost structures of the model. A numerical example is given for the purpose of illustrating our results when the failure time distribution is Weibull distribution.

In this paper, we consider a periodic preventive maintenance(PM) policy in which each PM reduces the hazard rate of amount proportional to the failure intensity, which increases since the last PM and slows down the wear-out speed to that of new one. And the proportion of reduction in hazard rate decreases with the number of PMs. Our model is similar to $ARI_1$ proposed by Doyen and Gaudoin(2004) in the sense of reduction of hazard rate. Our model has totally different wear-out pattern of hazard rate after PM's, however, and the proportion of reduction depends on the number of PM's. Assuming that the system undergoes only minimal repairs at failures between PM's, the expected cost rate per unit time is obtained. The optimal number N of PM and the optimal period x, which minimize the expected cost rate per unit time are discussed. Explicit solutions for the optimal periodic PM are given for the Weibull distribution case.
This study explores contrastive relation among voiced bilabial fricative [${\ss}$], voiceless bilabial stop [p] and glide [w] in Middle Korean consonant system based on Probabilistic Model. Preceding researches about voiced bilabial fricative [${\ss}$] proposed two influential arguments. One is voiced bilabial fricative [${\ss}$] was an independent phoneme, the other is it was not an independent phoneme but an allophone of voiceless bilabial stop [p] in Middle Korean. This study applies Probabilistic Phonological Relationship Model (PPRM) for solving the problem of dichotomy about contrastive and allophonic relations. The analysis result of the contrastive entropy by PPRM suggests that voiced bilabial fricative [${\ss}$] was just an allophone of voiceless bilabial stop [p] or glide [w] in Middle Korean. Comparing the entropies between [p] and other consonants with the entropies between [${\ss}$] and other consonants, a continuum defined in terms of entropy reveals that [${\ss}$] in Middle Korean was more allophonic than phonemic.

In this paper we present a non-standard finite difference method for solving a fractional decay model. The proposed NSFDM is constructed by incorporating a non-standard denominator function, resulting in an explicit numerical scheme as easy as the conventional Euler method, but it provides very accurate solutions and has unconditional stability. Two examples from the literature are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed numerical scheme, which is compared to three methods from the literature. It is found that the method's estimated errors are extremely minimal, such as within the machine precision.
Researchers have applied theoretical and CFD models for years to analyze the fluidelastic instability (FEI) of tube arrays in steam generators and other heat exchangers. The accuracy of each approach has typically been evaluated using the discrepancy between the experimental critical flow velocity and the predicted value. In the best cases, the predicted critical flow velocity was within an order of magnitude comparable to the measured one. This paper revisits the quasi-steady approach for damping controlled FEI in a normal triangular array with a pitch ratio of P/d = 1.375. The method addresses the fluidelastic frequency at the stability threshold as an input parameter for the approach. The excellent agreement between the estimated stability thresholds and the equivalent experimental results suggests that the fluidelastic frequency must be included in the quasi-steady analysis, which requires minimal computing time and experimental data. In addition, the model allows a simple time delay analysis regarding flow convective and viscous effects.
