To get an undergraduate degree from mathematics education department, a student not only take a general educational technology course from education department, but also take an educational technology in mathematics education course from mathematics education department. We believe that these two courses can be integrated for preparing better mathematics teachers. For this purpose, we design an educational technology tool called JavaMAL microworld, and study strategy to integrate two courses harmoniously. This kind of approach is good for internationalization of researches on mathematics education by Korean researchers since most SSCI journal prefer an integrated approach in the educational technology related papers. In short, integrating general educational technology course and educational technology in mathematics education course is not only good to student but to professors. But just integrating two courses is not enough. Students must understand the needs and the usefulness of educational technology tool in the learning and teaching of mathematics, and must have such experience from their mathematics courses.
The main purpose of this work is to propose programs of algebra courses for the department of mathematics education of teacher training universities. Set Theory, Linear Algebra, Number Theory, Abstract Algebra I, Abstract Algebra II, and Philosophy of Mathematics for School Teachers are discussed in this article.

In this study, we examined the relationships among years of teaching experience, professional rank, number of courses taken, and knowledge of algebra for teaching (KAT). 338 in-service and 376 pre-service secondary mathematics teachers in China completed a KAT questionnaire. Various statistical techniques were employed to examine these relationships. The pre-service participants teachers performed statistically significantly higher in advanced mathematics knowledge than their in-service counterparts. Among the inservice teachers, senior teachers had scored higher in school mathematics and teaching mathematics, compared with junior teachers. Yet participants' advanced mathematics knowledge decreased as their professional rank advanced or their teaching experience increased. The number of courses taken has significantly positive correlation with school mathematics knowledge and advanced mathematics knowledge. The implications of these findings for mathematics teacher education are discussed.
This study explores classes for pre-service mathematics teachers. The purpose of this study is to examine the differences between 'non-face-to-face' classes & 'face-to-face' classes, as well as the differences in learning outcomes between these two methods. A Professors' Learning Group was formed to effectively carry out this study. Through this learning group, we shared how to plan and operate the lecture. The subjects of this study are 'non-face-to-face calculus courses & face-to-face calculus courses' and 'non-face mathematics education theory courses & face-to-face mathematics education theory courses." Specifically, in these two pairs of courses, we analyze the differences in course management and the differences in the outcomes of students' assessments. Non-face-to-face classes were planned, developed, implemented and evaluated based on the 'non-face class design model.' The results of this study are as follows: First, we explored the differences between 'non-face-to-face classes/mixed classes' and 'face-to-face classes.' Second, the achievement results in calculus courses were higher in face-to-face classes than in non-face classes. Third, the results of achievements in mathematics education theory courses were higher in mixed classes than in face-to-face classes. Through the results of this study, we hope that the non-face-to-face class capabilities can be improved in pre-service mathematics teacher training.

The aim of this study is to compare mathematics curriculum among the United States, Singapore, England, Japan, Australia and Korea and offer suggestions to improve mathematics curriculum of Korea in the future. In order to attain these purposes, the analysis was conducted in many aspects including mathematics education system, mathematics courses, mathematics contents, assessment syllabus for university entrance examination and the construction principles of mathematics curriculum. In the light of the results of this study, our suggestions for improving mathematics curriculum of Korea are as follows: revising the contents of analysis, geometry, probability and statistics strands; organizing curriculum based on spiral construction principle; providing various opportunities to select mathematics courses according to students'career; reflecting the contents of their courses in university entrance examination.
This study was designed to gain insights into investigating pre-service secondary mathematics teacher education for technology integrated curriculum. The progressive expansion of supporting system for those education in US, TPACK, teacher belief, and analysis frameworks for teacher education program were explored. A survey on the technology courses in 42 mathematics education departments was analysed. Technology courses were not opened in 1/3 of the departments because of the lack of lecturers or objection of the faculty members. Common visions as well as curriculum realignment, financial supports are required for implementing technology integrated mathematics education
The purpose of this study is to analyze whether statistics and statistical education of intensive courses at the teachers college can improve elementary pre-service teacher' statistical attitudes. Findings on this study are as follows: First, there was meaningful difference in the elementary pre-service teacher' attitudes with significant level of 0.05. This proved that statistics and statistical education of intensive courses at the teachers college was effective on improving elementary pre-service teacher' attitudes. Second, there was meaningful difference in the pre-service math teacher' conception in the 2009 reformed curriculum for elementary mathematics.
Nowadays there are practically no mathematical courses in which Computer Algebra Systems (CAS) programs, such as MATHEMATlCA, Maple, and TI-89/92, are not used to some extent. However, generally the usage of these programs is reduced to illustration of computing processes: calculation of integrals, differentiation, solution of various equations, etc. This is obtained by usage of standard command of type: Solve [...] in MATHEMATICA. At the same time the main difficulties arise at teaching nonconventional mathematical courses such as coding theory, discrete mathematics, cryptography, Scientific computing, which are gaining the increasing popularity now. Now it is impossible to imagine a modern engineer not having basic knowledge in discrete mathematics, Cryptography, coding theory. Digital processing of signals (digital sound, digital TV) has been introduced in our lives.
The curriculum system and documentation for advanced general education, MSC (Mathematics, Basic Science, Computer Science), and engineering-design courses have been developed to improve the education of advanced undergraduate students in engineering and technology at Chosun University. In this paper, to obtain improved quality of engineering courses, we systemized the education of engineering and technology, which could be designed as the education satisfying students and provide awards for high-quality performance, through efficient management of education courses and establishment of basic and professional courses. In addition, by applying evaluation to the engineering courses and using the model of continuous quality improvement, we could achieve a high-quality education system for the engineering and technology courses.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the status and gifted students' perception on curriculum implementation for gifted education at Busan Science Academy. For the purpose, we investigated the curriculum documents, the process of implementing curriculum and the result of the questionnaire. The questionnaire about the curriculum courses, teaching strategies and evaluation method was answered by 143 students at Busan Science Academy. The curriculum courses are composed of general courses and specialized courses: general courses comprise of Korean language, social studies, foreign languages, arts, and physical education. Specialized courses consist of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, information science. Elective courses are divided into basic elective courses and in-depth courses. Each in-depth course deals with more specialized content. The significant results of the questionnaire are as follows: First, according to gifted students' perception, the credits of specialized courses and in-depth elective courses need to be increased and the credits of general courses need to be reduced. Second, teachers at this school mainly use teaching strategies such as lecture, group activities and discussion, but the students prefer diverse teaching strategies such as lecture, discussion, experiment, individual research, problem solving and field studies. Third, students prefer a paper-and-pencil testing assesment rather than a written report assesment and lab experiment assesment. According to this study, the characteristics of the acceleration curriculum at Busan Science Academy were too intensive. Thus it is difficult to implement the enrichment education according to the demand of gifted students in this school. Therefore, this study suggests that we need to revise the curriculum courses of Busan Science Academy and develop contents and strategies for gifted education in science and mathematics.
