In this paper, we investigate the zeros distribution and Borel direction for the solutions of linear homogeneous differential equation $f^{(n)}+A_{n-2}(z)f^{(n-2)}+{\cdots}+A_1(z)f'+A_0(z)f=0(n{\geq}2)$ in an angular domain. Especially, we establish a relation between a cluster ray of zeros and Borel direction.

The Weibull family of lifetime distributions play a fundamental role in reliability engineering and life testing problems. This paper investigates the potential usefulness of transmuted new generalized Weibull (TNGW) distribution for modeling lifetime data. This distribution is an important competitive model that contains twenty-three lifetime distributions as special cases. We can obtain the TNGW distribution using the quadratic rank transmutation map (QRTM) technique. We derive the analytical shapes of the density and hazard functions for graphical illustrations. In addition, we explore some mathematical properties of the TNGW model including expressions for the quantile function, moments, entropies, mean deviation, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves and the moments of order statistics. The method of maximum likelihood is used to estimate the model parameters. Finally the applicability of the TNGW model is presented using nicotine in cigarettes data for illustration.

Generalized Pareto distribution play an important role in reliability, extreme value theory, and other branches of applied probability and statistics. This family of distribution includes exponential distribution, Pareto or Lomax distribution. In this paper, we established exact expressions and recurrence relations satised by the quotient moments of generalized order statistics for a generalized Pareto distribution. Further the results for quotient moments of order statistics and records are deduced from the relations obtained and a theorem for characterizing this distribution is presented.

We give a series of discrete random variables which converges to a random variable whose distribution function is the Riesz-N$\acute{a}$gy-Tak$\acute{a}$cs (RNT) distribution. We show this using the correspondence theorem that if the moments coincide then their corresponding distribution functions also coincide.

We show that the Fourier-Laplace series of a distribution on the sphere is uniformly Cesaro-summable to zero on a neighborhood of a point if and only if this point does not belong to the support of the distribution. Similar results on the ball and on the real projective space are also proved.

The modern approach for wavelets imposes a Bayesian prior model on the wavelet coefficients to capture the sparseness of the wavelet expansion. The idea is to build flexible probability models for the marginal posterior densities of the wavelet coefficients. In this note, we derive exact expressions for a popular model for the marginal posterior density.
