  • KPI, an indicator that measures the performance of factors that contribute to achieving strategies of individuals or organizations, is used a lot to analyze the performance of construction work. Construction work consists of individual construction types with different characteristics such as progress method, scale, and input resources, but currently, KPIs for performance analysis of individual construction types are lacking. Therefore, this study aims to obtain and analyze data for establishing construction performance analysis KPIs during construction work to prepare the basis for the creation of future construction KPIs. Preliminary KPIs for earthwork performance analysis selected through this study are expected to be the basis for deriving preliminary KPIs for other individual construction types.

  • The dynamic positioning system (DPS) maintains an offshore vessel's position and heading under various environmental conditions by using its own thrust. DPS is regarded as one of the most important systems in offshore vessels. So, efficient operation and maintenance of the DPS are important issues. To monitor the DPS, it is necessary to define an appropriate key performance indicator (KPI) that can express the condition of the DPS from the perspective of operational efficiency and maintenance. In this study, a new KPI for the DPS is proposed considering the efficiency of the machinery and controller, the energy efficiency, and the environmental conditions in which the DPS is operated. The KPI is defined as a function of control deviation, energy consumption, and environmental load. A normalization factor is used to normalize the effect of environmental load on the KPI. The KPI value is calculated from DPS simulation and model test data. The possibility of applying the KPI to monitoring of DPS condition is discussed by comparing the values. The result indicates the feasibility of the new KPI.

  • The purpose of this research is to provide practical implications for the management of the contracted foodservice business by developing a key performance indicator(referred to herein as a K.P.I.) which is to measure the performance of management of contracted foodservice business in Korea. For this study, a KPI is developed in different perspectives by conducting the delphi-3round test with industry professionals who have more than 8 year job experience at contracted foodservice business located in Korea. The KPI that was developed as a result of this research will be able to help contracted foodservice business in Korea to set a concrete direction to focus on in preparing for the future economic environment, and to utilize the KPI in indicating an area on which they must concentrate their capital. In addition, the KPI will help contracted foodservice business executives to clearly evaluate current and future value of existing contracted foodservice business, thus providing accurate standards in M&A. However, this research has a limitation in proving directions of KPI despite its own meaning because there was no actual proof of relationship between contracted foodservice business of strategies in Korea.

  • As a reinforcing strategic-alignment of IT business, Financial Service becomes more rely on IT systems. It needs to continuous information security activities to provide a secure and reliable finance service. Performance measurement of information security activities can be useful for decision and management support. The purpose of this study is to derive CSF(Critical Success Factor) and KPI(Key Performance Indicator) based on K-ISMS, Financial IT Information Security Standards. Providing a rationale can be used to determine key performance indicators, which are utilized as basic data for establishing security policies for financial IT security competency.

  • Recently, Korean government demands that public sectors like railway construction should improve their management efficiency. It is necessary for railway construction supported by government budget to aim at the companywide management efficiency. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is known as integrated performance management framework that helps a company to translate strategic objective info relevant performance within an organization. This paper focuses on relationship between KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) used to measure the performance of railway construction industry and process KPT for BPM (Business Process Management). Also, the vision and strategies of the railway construction is introduced, and the CSFs (Critical Success Factors) and the KPI based on BSC is developed. Finally, this paper explores that there is a possibility to fulfill the strategic objectives of railway construction industry through the connectivity between KPI based on BSC and process KPI based on BPM. We explain the detailed procedures with an example of railway construction industry.

  • This paper analyzed twenty-six production-related KPI(Key Performance indicator) factors of business diagnosis, such as personnel, equipment, materials, operations and quality affecting company business competition to 186 small machinery manufacturers in 2010. Also, we explained the concept of Business Positioning and divided research subjects into four Business Positioning Groups formed break-even point ratio & fixed cost ratio to sales and then we compared between the 4 groups using Logistic Regression analysis by SAS statistical software package. The objective of this study is two-fold. The first is to find out production-related KPI factor of superior Business Positioning Group. The second is to suggest improvement ways for small manufacturers in order to get better profitable Business Positioning.

  • In this paper, quantitative and systematic procedures for establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) of R&D departments are presented. The proposed methodology is composed of 4 steps : 1) identification of critical success factors, 2) identification of potential KPI's, 3) determination of KPI's and 4) monitoring and execution. A Strategy Map has been presented to better align KPI's with a company's competitive strategies. Also, Analytical Hierarchy Planning (AHP) is used to determine weights of KPI's and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is used to analyze the effectiveness of R&D departments. To demonstrate its validity of the proposed method, it has been applied to the R&D divisions of a semiconductor company.

  • It It is not easy to reduce the operation costs at a time when it is hard to expect increase sales due to growing economic uncertainties. For logistics centers, which need to keeps their competitive advantage in the market by raising service levels at low cost, it is essential to drastically improve service levels at low cost. This study suggests that KPI (Key Performance Indicator) analysis should determine whether efficient logistics operation is being performed for the entire process of the logistics operation system. And also we suggests that each item should be set up, measured, and improved so that customer satisfaction can be increased based on performance indicators.

  • The objectives of this study were to assign reasonability to importance of weight selection issue in key performance indicator for performance evaluation of Centers for Child-care Foodservice Management (CCFSM) developed by using Balanced Scorecard (BSC), to draw key performance indicator (KPI) by perspective and to analyze differences in recognition on importance. From September 25 to October 9, 2012, we conducted a questionnaire-based study via e-mail, targeting chiefs and team leaders of nationwide 21 CCFSMs (43 persons), officials of local governments where CCFSM was established (21 persons), officials of Korea Food and Drug Administration (2 persons) and foodservice management experts (27 persons) in order to estimate the relative importance on 4 perspectives and 14 KPIs and analyzed its results by using 61 collected data. The results showed that relative importance of perspectives was estimated in order of importance as follows: business performance (0.3519), customer (0.3393), resource (0.1557), learning and growth (0.1531). Relative importance of KPIs was in order of importance as follows: Evaluation of sanitary management level in child-care foodservice facilities (0.1327), Level of customer recognition and behavior improvement (0.1153), performances of round visiting inspection on foodservice, sanitary, safety management, and foodservice consulting (0.0913). Our results showed that the recognition differences exist on the relative importance of perspectives and KPIs between officials of CCFSM, KFDA, local government and foodservice management experts. These observations will form the basis for developing evaluation systems, and it is considered that performance indicators developed on this basis will suggest direction of operation which CCFSM will have to perform.
