  • This study is the analysis of the effects of Jigsaw II Cooperative Learning upon the academic achievement and upon the ability of self-directed learning, compared to lecturing. It made it experimental target for two male and two female classes of students in the 2nd grade of humanity high school in Ulsan metropolitan area. One male and one female classes conducted Jigsaw II cooperative learning by making up a small group heterogeneously from the aspect of learning ability, and the other male and female classes carried out the lecturing focusing on a teacher. As for the academic achievement of science, Jigsaw II cooperative learning was shown to be effective compared to the lecturing. As for the ability of self-directed learning, Jigsaw II cooperative learning was indicated to be effective compared to the lecturing. As for the ability of self-directed learning for Jigsaw II cooperative learning, it was indicated to be effective compared to the lecturing. Given seeing this, it was identified the necessity for Jigsaw II cooperative learning to be applied to a school field as an alternative plan for the lecturing.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of applying jigsaw cooperative learning to basic nursing practicums on self-directed learning ability, self-efficacy, and learning outcomes. Methods: This study was based on a non-equivalent control group design, and the subjects were nursing students. The study allocated 30 people in the experimental group and 30 people in the control group, and jigsaw cooperative learning was applied to the experimental group for 2 hours every week for a total of 8 weeks. The traditional educational method was applied to the control group. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS v26.0. Results: The experimental group to which jigsaw cooperative learning was applied showed statistically significant differences in self-directed learning ability (F=4.49, p=.038), self-efficacy (F=6.15, p=.016), and learning outcomes (F=19.48, p<.001) compared to the control group. Conclusion: By applying jigsaw cooperative learning to basic nursing practicums, this study confirmed its effect not only on the effective domain such as self-directed learning ability and self-efficacy, but also on learning outcomes in the practical domain. We propose future studies apply jigsaw cooperative learning to various practice classes to achieve learning outcomes that focus on cultivating students' practical capabilities.

  • In this study, Jigsaw III cooperative learning strategy and traditional learning strategy have been applied to the 'electricity' chapter of grade 8 science textbooks to know the effects of learning strategy, gender, and GPA on the students' science achievement and science learning attitude of middle school female students in gender-separated classes. For this purpose, 143 students of 4 classes in separated classes were chosen from a middle school in Daegu. One female class and one male class were assigned to the experimental group and other female class and male class were assigned to the control group. Traditional learning strategy was applied to the control group and the Jigsaw III cooperative learning strategy was applied to the experimental group. Four worksheets for expert groups were used for 18 hours through 5 weeks. Both tests for science achievement and learning attitude were administered as pre and post test. The test results were analyzed through analysis of covariance(ANCOVA) as pre test score as covariant The overall conclusions of this study were as follows: The Jigsaw III cooperative learning has improved science achievement, especially on subjective-type questions, of female students and mid-lower level students. The Jigsaw III Cooperative Learning has also improved self-directed attitude toward science learning. Female students have expressed more positive opinion about the Jigsaw III cooperative learning.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of jigsaw cooperative learning class of elementary pre-service teacher on task commitment and creative personality. This study established an twelve-week period of experimental treatment from september to november 2019, and the students who participated in the study formed a research group of 121 students in 2nd grade of their advanced classes who are attending the second semester of b university of education and taking courses in 'teaching research 2'. B university of education is singleness class that doesn't have compare group, so this study is constituted only study group. Applying based-jigsaw cooperative learning class to study group, before and after concept of task commitment test and creative personality test is performed. The results of the study were as follows. First, the study group applied jigsaw cooperative learning-based science class had statistically significant differences in task commitment (p<.05). Second, the study group applied jigsaw cooperative learning-based science class had statistically significant differences in creative personality efficacy(p<.05). Third, jigsaw cooperative learning-based science class of pre-service teachers have a very good feeling. Through such study results, the study could figure out that the class applying jigsaw cooperative learningbased science class has positive effect on concept of task commitment and creative personality efficacy.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of jigsaw cooperative learning strategy on elementary students' task commitment and creative personality. This study utilized experimental method of comparing the effect of jigsaw strategy between treatment and comparative group. Twenty four 6th grade students in treatment group experienced the jigsaw cooperative learning for twelve-weeks during 2019 school year whereas students in comparetive group did not. Task commitment and creative personality test result were collected from both groups as main data sources and mixed-method was used to analyze the data. The results of the study were as follows. First, the treatment group students' task commitment score was significantly higher than comparative group of students' score(p<.05). Second, the treatment group students' creative personality efficacy score was significantly higher than comparative group students' (p<.05). Third, students who experienced the jigsaw cooperative learning-based science lesson had positive perceptions about the lesson.

  • This study is to find out that the effect of science class applied Jigsaw cooperative learning to study achievement and Creative personality. The class section of this study is 5th grade 1 semester of science 2 chapters, 'the solar system and the stars' This study has been aimed at 2 class 40 students of 5th grade in D metropolitan city G elementary school in 2015, one class 20 students are the research group to apply science class using a Jigsaw cooperative learning techniques, another class 20 students were comparison groups to apply general science classes. Research result and conclusion obtained through the discussion are as follows. First, science class using Jigsaw cooperative learning technique was not effective. Even though the science class with jigsaw cooperation education could not achieve the beneficial academic achievement, which is the cognition factor, when it comes to precedent study, the definition factors such as teamwork, consideration and readership show great effects. Second, science class using Jigsaw cooperative learning technique was effective in cultivating creative personality. This can be interpreted that the science class applied the jigsaw cooperation study help the creativity development. Third, after the science class applied jigsaw cooperation study, the students' perceptions also have changed in positive way. They were tend to care each other and cooperate with others. That means the class is good way to cultivate collective intelligence, which is a virtue of community.

  • Background: This study was conducted to identify the experiences of nursing students students who participated in jigsaw cooperative learning in medical terminology classes. Methods: Data were collected through in-depth individual interviews and analyzed using the Colaizzi phenomenological analysis methodology. Results: Six categories emerged through experiences of jigsaw cooperative learning of nursing students. The specific categories are 'two contrasting emotions that exist under consciousness', 'progression towards self-directed learning', 'resurrection of community spirit', 'facing the growing self', 'realistic limits', and 'co-operation that has risen above consciousness'. Conclusion: Jigsaw cooperative learning enhances nursing students' self-directed learning and community consciousness. It is a very useful teaching and learning method that encourages growth through community spirit and cooperation. In the future, we propose a study using jigsaw-cooperative learning in various classes.
