유치원과 어린이집 교사의 COVID-19 구강건강관리의 영향 (Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on oral healthcare among children and teachers in kindergarten and daycare centers)

  • 연구목적: COVID-19로 인해 유치원과 어린이집에서의 교육 방식이 변화되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 COVID-19 이전과 COVID-19 시기의 유아 구강건강관리 실태와 유치원 및 어린이집 교사들의 구강건강관리에 대한 인식을 조사하는 것이다. 연구방법: 연구 대상은 만 3-5세 아동을 담당하는 유치원 및 어린이집 교사 189명으로 온라인 설문조사를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 통계분석은 빈도분석과 카이제곱 검정을 이용하였다. 연구결과: COVID-19 이전보다 COVID-19 이후 아동의 점심식사 후 칫솔 사용 횟수, 구강보건교육 및 정기 구강검진 횟수, 보육교사의 구강보건교육 경험률이 감소했다. 또한 유치원 및 어린이집 교육자들은 보건소 구강보건담당자가 가장 바람직한 구강보건교육자라고 응답하였다. 결론: COVID-19 팬데믹 이후 유치원과 어린이집에서 영유아의 구강건강관리가 취약해졌다. 구강위생과 구강건강교육을 통해 이를 회복시키려는 노력이 필요하다. 또한 구강건강교육자로서 치과위생사의 역할을 확대할 필요가 있다.

Survey of Korean daycare personnel on safe sleep practices related to sudden unexplained infant death: a cross-sectional exploratory study

  • Purpose: Safe sleep practices (SSP) are among the main strategies to reduce sleep-related sudden unexplained infant death (SUID). Daycare personnel must be knowledgeable and trained in SSP related to SUID. This study explored the experience, knowledge, and confidence regarding SSP associated with SUID of daycare personnel. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 395 staff members at 61 daycare centers to measure their experience related to SSP (10 items), related to sleep position and location, bedding materials, and other topics; knowledge of SSP (18 items); and confidence in SSP (1 item) related to SUID. Results: A substantial proportion (23.6%) of respondents used the lateral or prone positions for infant sleep. On average, 4.5 bedding materials were used for infant sleep. Participants showed a lack of knowledge about SSP as indicated by a 56.6% knowledge of SSP related to SUID correct answer rate. Personnel who received SUID education were more knowledgeable and had more confidence regarding SSP than those who did not. More knowledge and confidence related to SSP were associated with better adherence to SSP. Conclusion: Standard SSP guidelines should be developed based on South Korea's culture of childcare for educating both childcare professionals and parents at home.

생태유아교육 실천과 보육교사의 특성 및 인식 간의 관계 (Characteristics and Perceptions of Daycare Teachers in Relation with the Practices of Eco Early Childhood Education)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine teachers' practices of Eco Early Childhood Education (EECE) according to the characteristics and perceptions of daycare teachers, and the impacts of teachers' characteristics and perceptions on their EECE practices. The subjects in this study were 110 teachers who were worked at daycare centers in the Gyeongnam area of Korea. The teachers completed questionnaires concerning their perceptions and practices within the EECE. The collected data were analyzed by t-tests, one-way ANOVA, correlation coefficients, and regression. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The daycare teachers differed in their degree of EECE practices depending on their characteristics. 2) The daycare teachers were significantly different in their practices of EECE according to their perceptions. 3) The teachers' characteristics and perceptions of ECCE explained their practices of EECE. Particularly, teacher educational levels and the perceptions of ECCE by teachers were positively associated with their practices.

유아의 기질, 어머니의 양육스트레스 및 유아교육.보육기관에서의 사회적 적응간의 관계 (The Relationships Among Child Temperament, Mothering Daily Hassles and Social Adjustment in Kindergartens and Childcare Centers)

  • This study explored the relationships among child temperament, mothering daily hassles, and children's social adjustment in 254 kindergartens and childcare centers. The mothers of the participants completed the measures of child temperament and mothering daily hassles. The social adjustment in daycare was assessed through the rating provided by the children's teachers. Correlations and regressions were used for the analyses. The results showed that sociability, activity and soothability were related to social adjustment that attention-span, soothability, emotionality and activity were related to the mothering daily hassles that mothering daily hassles by children's challenging behavior were negatively related to the social competence and positively internalizing problems and that sociability and activity were useful to predict children's social adjustment in kindergartens and childcare centers.

어린이집의 조직공정성이 보육교사의 조직몰입 및 이직의도에 미치는 영향: 가정어린이집을 중심으로 (The Effect of Organizational Justice on Organizational Commitment and Turnover Intention of Home Daycare Center)

  • 본 연구는 가정어린이집의 교사가 지각하는 조직공정성이 조직몰입과 이직의도에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 살펴봄으로써 어린이집의 효율적 운영을 통한 보육교사의 지원 방안을 모색하고 이를 통한 보육의 질 향상을 위한 제고방안을 마련하고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 부산, 울산, 경남지역에 소재한 가정어린이집에 근무하는 251명의 보육교사를 대상으로 조직공정성, 조직몰입, 이직의도를 측정하는 자료를 수집하여, 기술적 통계, 적률상관관계분석 및 단계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 먼저 일반적 배경에 따른 차이를 살펴본 결과, 보육교사의 조직몰입은 연령, 현 기관의 재직기간에서 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 이직의도는 급여에 따른 차이를 보였다. 다음으로 조직공정성의 각 하위요인과 조직몰입은 정적 상관관계를, 이직의도와는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 마지막으로 조직공정성의 하위요인이 조직몰입에 미치는 상대적 영향력은 절차공정성과 분배공정성이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 이직의도에 미치는 상대적 영향력은 분배공정성과 상호작용 공정성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 가정어린이집에서 보육교사가 조직에 몰입하며 이직을 고려하지 않고 안정적으로 직무를 수행하기 위해서 원장의 조직공정성에 대한 가치 인식 및 이를 향상하기 위한 지속적 노력이 필요함을 논의하였다.

블렌디드 모형에 기초한 보육실습 운영에 관한 사례연구 (Case Study on The Implementation of Student Teachers' Practicums Based on a Blended Model)

  • In order to improve the quality of student teachers' practicum, this study analysed the current situation of student teachers' field practice in child care centers. The study also assessed the practicum implementation case of H Cyber University. First, this research examined the characteristics of practicum implementation in universities. Second, a variety of strategies based on a blended model, on/off-line lectures, professor-student interaction, university-daycare centers collaboration, e-mentoring, and student teachers' portfolios that reduce the problems of student teachers' training, were explored. Finally, the practicum implementation case that adopted these factors was assessed. The results from this case study implied that student teachers' practicums based on a blended model can be an alternative method for problem-solving in existing student teachers' training in universities.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationships between parents'attitudes toward emergent literacy and home literacy practices with toddlers and preschoolers. The researcher developed the instrument based on a literature review and on other researchers'(Fitzgerald, Spiegel, & Cunningham, 1991; DeBaryshe & Binder, 1994) questionnaires for parents of toddlers and preschoolers. The researcher did a pilot study to examine the appropriateness of the questionnaires with 68 parents. A total of 274 parents who sent their children to daycare centers participated in this study in central Pennsylvania. To analyze the data for this study, The researcher employed Frequency, Mean, Standard Deviation, Pearson's correlations, Multiple Regression Analysis. Demographic characteristics and parents'attitudes toward emergent literacy which consisted with writing and reading attitudes of literacy were related to home literacy practices for toddlers and preschoolers.. Writing attitudes and verbal participation in reading were the most predicting variables in home literacy practices. The results of this study addressed the importance of the role of belief systems in literacy teaming between parents and children.

도시 저소득층 가족의 제특성과 주부의 스트레스와의 관계 (The Relationship of Socio-Economic, Residential Characteristics, Values, and Social Networks to Stress among Low-Income Family Wives)

  • This study investigated first, socio-economic, residential characteristics, and values for future life among low-income family wives. Second, the relationship of these characteristics to the wives' stress was examined. The subjects were 249 mothers of urban low-income families whose children attended one of 20 daycare centers located in poor residential areas. The instruments included Social Network Scale, Home Stress Scale, and Occupation Stress Scale. Data were analyzed by means, standard deviations, frequencies, paired t-tests, and the stepwise multiple regressions. We found that a majority of the mothers and their husbands had high school educational status and simple labor or sales/service work status. They lived in rental houses or apartments. Their families of origin were a major source of emotional supports. Insufficient income for non-employed wives, long work hours and lack of free time for employed wives were a major stress. Levels of the wives' home-related job-related stress were negatively related to their own and their hudsbands' work status.

치매노인의 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing Quality of Life of Elderly People with Dementia)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors that affect quality of life in elderly people with dementia. Methods: The participants for this descriptive correlational study were 97 elderly patients with dementia who were attending a daycare center or were being cared for at home. Data were collected from the participants using the Mini-Mental Status Examination-Dementia Scale, the Geriatric Depression Scale (Short Form), Activity of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) Scale. Results: There were statistically significant differences in quality of life of elders with dementia according to mobility, using dementia day-care center, and cohabitation. In multiple regression analysis, depression, activity of daily of living, using dementia day-care centers and cohabitation were significant predictors of quality of life and the four variables explained 60% of the variance in quality of life. Conclusion: Findings indicate that to enhance the quality of life for elders with dementia, depression needs to be decreased and regular use of daycare service recommended. Further, various programs enhancing physical ability need to be developed and used with these elders.

보육서비스 인프라가 영유아 부모의 지역사회 가족친화성 인식에 미치는 영향 : 서울시 25개 구를 중심으로 (Child-Care Infrastructures and the Perception of Community Family-Friendliness : Parents with Young Children in 25 Provinces in Seoul)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of family-friendly community policy and child care policy on parents with young children. Particularly, two specific questions were addressed: 1) Were there differences in the perception of community family-friendliness among parents with young children in Seoul provinces? 2) Were there differences in the perception of community family-friendliness among parents with young children, depending on child-care infrastructures in Seoul provinces? Data for this study were drawn from multiple sources. Individual-level indicators were drawn from the survey of 1,246 parents with children under age 6 in Seoul. Community-level indicators were drawn from the 2011 Seoul census data. Frequency, descriptive statistics, GIS mapping, and hierarchical linear model analysis were conducted to examine the perception of community family-friendliness by individual, child-care infrastructures, and the community at large. The major results of the present study are as follows: The perception of parents on community family-friendliness varied across the 25 provinces in Seoul. The perception of community family-friendliness was positively related with the total number of child day-care centers, and the number of infant-toddler child daycare centers. The number of accredited child daycare centers was negatively associated with the perception of community family-friendliness.
