We discovered that definition of a Geometrical Progression(Sequence) have some differences in domestic textbooks & some foreign countries' books. This will be able to cause a chaos when students divide whether a sequence is a Geometrical Progression(Sequence) or not, and a question error when teachers compose questions about convergence conditions of Infinite Geometric progressions & series. We took a question investigation for students about definition of a Geometrical Progression(that is called G. P.), we discovered that high level students have an error about definition of a G. P.. So We modified expressions of terminology in domestic textbooks appropriately through a Geometrical Progression(Sequence), infinite series, & infinite geometrical series in some foreign countries' books.
Geometric imperfections have an important influence on the buckling response of structural components. This paper describes an experimental technique for determining imperfections in long (5.7 m) structural members using a series of overlapping measurements. Measurements were performed on 31 austenitic stainless steel sections formed from three different production routes: hot-rolling, cold-rolling and press-braking. Spectral analysis was carried out on the imperfections to obtain information on the periodic nature of the profiles. Two series were used to model the profile firstly the orthogonal cosine and sine functions in a classic Fourier transform and secondly a half sine series. Results were compared to the relevant tolerance standards. Simple predictive tools for both local and global imperfections have been developed to enable representative geometric imperfections to be incorporated into numerical models and design methods.

Error of the geometric series expansion method for the structural sensitivity analysis is estimated. Although the semi-analytic method has several advantages, accuracy of the method prevents it from practical application. One of the promising remedies is the use of geometric series formula for the matrix inversion. Its result of the sensitivity analysis converges that of the global difference method which is known as reliable one. To reduce computational efforts and to obtain reliable results, it is important to know how many terms need to expand. In this paper, the error formula is presented and Its usefulness is illustrated through numerical experiments.
This study started with the following questions. Suppose that students do not accept various forms of geometric series tasks as the same task. Also, let's say that the approach was different for each task. Then, when they realize that they are the same task, how will students connect the different approaches? This study is a process of pro-actively confirming whether or not such a question can be made. For this purpose, three students in the second grade of high school participated in the teaching experiment. The results of this study are as follows. It also confirmed how the students think about the various types of tasks in the geometric series. For example, students have stated that the value is 1 in a series type of task. However, in the case of the 0.999... type of task, the value is expressed as less than 1. At this time, we examined only mathematical expressions of students approaching each task. The problem of reachability was not encountered because the task represented by the series symbol approaches the problem solved by procedural calculation. However, in the 0.999... type of task, a variety of expressions were observed that revealed problems with reachability. The analysis of students' expressions related to geometric series can provide important information for infinite concepts and limit conceptual research. The problems of this study may be discussed through related studies. Perhaps more advanced research may be based on the results of this study. Through these discussions, I expect that the contents of infinity in the school field will not be forced unilaterally because there is no mathematical error, but it will be an opportunity for students to think about the learning method in a natural way.
In this study, I employed the autoregressive model and the geometric Brownian motion model to analyze the recent stock prices of Korea. For all 7 series of stock prices(or index) the geometric Brownian motion model gives better predicted values compared with the autoregressive model when we use smaller number of observations.

This paper suggests a numerical method to find optimal geometric path and minimum-time motion for a spatial 6-link manipulator arm (PUMA 560 type). To find a minimum-time motion, the optimal geometric paths minimizing 2 different dynamic performance indices are searched first, and the minimum-time motions are searched on these optimal paths. In the algorithm to find optimal geometric paths, the objective functions (performance indices) are selected to minimize joint velocities, actuator forces or the combinations of them as well as to avoid one static obstacle. In the minimum-time algorithm the traveling time is expressed by the power series including 21 terms. The coefficients of the series are obtained using nonlinear programming to minimize the total traveling time subject to the constraints of velocity-dependent actuator forces.
A convex combination of two products with same degree of finitely many finite geometric series with each having even degree does not always have all its zeros on the unit circle. However, in this paper, we show that a polynomial obtained by just adding a finite geometric series multiplied by a large constant to such a convex combination has all its zeros on the unit circle.

Optimal trajectory for a robot manipulator minimizing actuator torques or energy consumption in a fixed traveling time is obtained in the presence of obstacles. All joint displacements are represented in finite terms of Fourier cosine series and the coefficients of the series are obtained optimally by nonlinear programming. Thus, the geometric path need not be prespecified and the full dynamic model is employed. To avoid the obstacles, the concept of penalty area is newly introduced and this penalty area is included in the performance index with an appropriate weighting coefficient. This optimal trajectory will be useful as a geometric path in the minimum-time trajectory planning problem.
In this note we study Nesbitt's Inequality and modify it to make several inequalities. We prove some inequalities by using power series and Cauchy-Schwarz Inequality.
The Bailey lemma has been a powerful tool in the discovery of identities of Rogers-Ramanujan type and also ordinary and basic hyper-geometric series identities. The mechanism of Bailey lemma has also led to the concepts of Bailey pair and Bailey chain. In the present work certain new WP-Bailey pairs have been established. We also have deduced a number of basic hypergeometric series identities as an application of new WP-Bailey pairs.
