Removal of nutrients from domestic sewage or industrial wastewater is needed to protect surface waters from eutrophication. This research was carried out to remove the nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) from the wastewater using the iron oxide obtained from the steel industry and the natural zeolite, respectively. This research was conducted in both batch and continuous systems. The removal efficiency of the nutrients was evaluated in the batch system using the varying concentrations of zeolite and iron oxide added. The removal efficiency of N was 60% at the 8g of zeolite added. In the same condition, the removal efficiencies of N were 76% and 82% at 12g and 16g of zeolite added, respectively. Removal efficiency of P was 80% as 8g of iron oxide was added. The removal efficiency of P was correspondingly increased as the concentration of iron oxide was increased. Continuous column system was also used to evaluate the removal efficiency of N and P by the addition of zeolite and ferric oxide, respectively. Removal efficiencies of N were compared in the mixed packing, two stage, and four stage columns, respectively. The removal efficiencies (80%) of N in the separate packed columns (two and four stages) were higher than the mixed packing column (400%) after 90 hr. Whereas, the removal efficiencies of P were similar to each other in the three columns.
For continuous ethanol production In an immobilized cell reactor consisting of Saccharomyces sake, feedings of one tenth to three tenths times diluted fermentation media were effective for maintaining the high ethanol productivity and physical stability of immobilized beads. In case two tenths times dilltued one of the fermentation medium supplemented with egg albumin hydrolysate(0.5%) and phosphatidylcholine(0.5%) was fed, a maximum ethanol productivity of $69 g/\ell$-hr was attained at a dilution rate of$1.1lhr^{-1}$, and it was 50% higher than that of the two tenths times diluted one of the fermentation medium without any supplement, $46 g/\ell$-hr.
In this paper, we investigate for how to define a fuzzy measure by using the semi-normed fuzzy integral of a given measurable function with respect to another given fuzzy measure when t-seminorm is continuous. Let (X, F, g) be a fuzzy measure space, h$\in$L$^\circ$(X), and $\top$ be a continuous t-seminorm.. Then the set function $\nu$ defined by $\nu$(A)=$\int _A$h$\top$g for any $A\in$F is a fuzzy measure on (X, F).
The effluent from anaerobic digestion contains organic nitrogen and phosphorus, which are both required for growth of Spirulina platensis. Effluent (20%) from the upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) from a pig farm, supplemented with 4.5 g/l sodium bicarbonate ($NaHCO_3$) and 0.2 g/l urea fertilizer (46:0:0, N:P:K), was found to be not only a suitable medium for the growth of Spirulina platensis but also a low-cost alternative. Cost calculation showed that this medium is 4.4 times cheaper than modifized Zarrouk's medium. The average productivities of a semi-continuous culture grown under outdoor conditions in a 6-1 scale and a 100-1 pilot scale were 19.9 $g/m^2/d$ and 12 $g/m^2/d$, respectively. In addition, the biomass of organisms grown in UASB effluent contained approximately 57.9% protein, 1.12% $\gamma$-linolenic acid, and 19.5% phycocyanin. The average rates of bicarbonate, total nitrogen, and phosphorus removal were 380 mg/l/d, 34 mg/l/d, and 4 mg/l/d, respectively.
The growth characteristics of Methylomonas methanolica YUFE 101, isolated from sewage samples, have been studied. conclusions of the study were; (1) Optimum cultivation pH and temperature are 6.3 and 32.5$^{\circ}C$ respectively (2) The specific oxygen uptake rate was 332 $\mu$ι/mg-dry weight/hr. (3) The maximum specific growth rate was 0.19 h $r^{-1}$ and celluar yield was 0.43 g-dry cell/g-methanol in batch culture, (4) The maximum biomass productivity achieved was 0.21 g-dry cel1/ι/hr at a dillution rate of 0.1 h $r^{-1}$ during continuous cultivation. (5) The contents of crude protein and total nucleic acid in the dry cell were 73 % and 12 % respectively.
As a result of broth substitutions when each culture-mediums were difference, whole culture-medium was found to be best feeding solution for production of PS-7 by B. indica. Maximal production of PS-7 was 1$10.0\;g/{\ell}$ and its conversion rate from 2% (w/v) glucose to PS-7 was 50%. After 48 hr, 50%(v/v) medium of working volume began to substitute in 7L jar fermenter. Production of PS-7 increased after 48hr, recovered productivity of PS-7. Following this preliminary culture, the resultant culture was subjected to continuous flow conditions controlled that the dilution rate were $0.01\;{\sim}\;0.04\;h^{-1}$. Production of PS-7 increased at dilution rate $0.0100\;h^{-1}$ whereas productivity of PS-7 decreased gradually in dilution rate $0.0200\;{\sim}\;0.0400\;h^{-1}$. Maximal production of PS-7 was $10.0\;g/{\ell}$ in continuous culture.
Purpose: The objective of this study was to investigate the feasibility of anaerobic digestion of Chinese cabbage waste juice (CCWJ) and swine manure(SM). Methods: The anaerobic digestion test was conducted under batch and continuous conditions at mesophilic temperature ($36-38^{\circ}C$). The batch test was divided into Experiment I and II. In the Experiment I, biogas potential and production rate of CCWJ was evaluated. In Experiment II the effect of F/M ratio (2.0, 3.2, 4.9) at mixture ratio of 25:75(CCWJ: SM, % vol. basis) on biogas yield was studied. Results: CCWJ produced biogas and methane yield of 929 and 700 mL/g VS added respectively. The biogas yield from the mixture of CCWJ and SM was almost same at F/M ratio of 2.0 and 3.2 but dropped by 14% when F/M ratio increased from 3.2 to 4.9. In continuous test the mixture of CCWJ and SM (25:75, % vol. basis) produced biogas yield of 352 mL/g VS added which is around 11% higher compared to biogas yield from SM alone. Addition to biogas yield digester performance was also improved with co-digestion of CCWJ with SM. Conclusions: The results showed that the anaerobic digestion of CCWJ with SM could be promising for improving both the biogas yield and digester performance at mesophilic temperature.

The purpose of this study was to examine the syllable-word boundary misalignment cost on word segmentation in Korean continuous speech. Previous studies have demonstrated the important role of syllabification in speech segmentation. The current study investigated whether the resyllabification process affects word recognition in Korean continuous speech. In Experiment I, under the misalignment condition, participants were presented with stimuli in which a word-final consonant became the onset of the next syllable. (e.g., /k/ in belsak ingan becomes the onset of the first syllable of ingan 'human'). In the alignment condition, they heard stimuli in which a word-final vowel was also the final segment of the syllable (e.g., /eo/ in heulmeo ingan is the end of both the syllable and word). The results showed that word recognition was faster and more accurate in the alignment condition. Experiment II aimed to confirm that the results of Experiment I were attributable to the resyllabification process, by comparing only the target words from each condition. The results of Experiment II supported the findings of Experiment I. Therefore, based on the current study, we confirmed that Korean, a syllable-timed language, has a misalignment cost of resyllabification.

Conventional space vector pulse width modulation based asymmetrical dual inverter configuration produces high common mode voltage (CMV) variations. This CMV causes the flow of common mode current, which adversely affects the motor bearings and electromagnetic interference of nearby electronic systems. In this study, a simple and generalized carrier based pulse width modulation (PWM) technique is proposed for dual inverter configuration. This simple approach generates various continuous and discontinuous modulating signals based PWM algorithms. With the application of the discontinuous modulating signal based PWM algorithm to the asymmetrical dual inverter configuration, the CMV can be reduced with a slightly improved quality of output voltage. The performance of the continuous and discontinuous modulating signals based PWM algorithms is explored through both theoretical and experimental studies. Results show that the discontinuous modulating signal based PWM algorithm efficiently reduces the CMV and switching losses.

3-D CAD (Computer Aided Design) system is an indispensable tool for manufacturing. A lot of engineers have studied for the methods to generate a curved surface on an N-sided shape, which is the basic technology of 3-D CAD systems. This surface generation, however, has three problems on the case of long and narrow shapes: the resultant surface is distorted, the surface is not continuous to adjacent surfaces, or additional user inputs are required to generate the surface. Conventional methods have not yet solved these problems at the same time. In this paper, we propose the method to generate internal curves that divide a long and narrow shape into regular N-sided sections so as to divide the shape into an N-sided section and four-sided ones. Our method controls the shape of internal curves by dividing an N-sided long and narrow shape into an N-sided section and four-sided ones, and solves distortion of the generated curved surface. In addition, each of the generated sections is interpolated with G1-continuous surfaces. This process does not require any user's further input. Therefore, the three problems mentioned above will be solved at the same time.
