  • The first purpose of this note is to generalize two nice theorems of H. J. Kim concerning hyperinvariant subspaces for certain classes of operators on Hilbert space, proved by him by using the technique of "extremal vectors". Our generalization (Theorem 1.2) is obtained as a consequence of a new theorem of the present authors, and doesn't utilize the technique of extremal vectors. The second purpose is to use this theorem to obtain the existence of hyperinvariant subspaces for a class of $2{\times}2$ operator matrices (Theorem 3.2).

  • This paper presents time domain identification of an interval system. We conjectured that Markov parameters (Pulse Responses) from Kharitonov plants would envelope those of the whole interval system. The examination on interrelations between Markov parameters from Kharitonov plants of an interval system and those of the whole interval system determines the validity of the conjecture and is used to give some extremal properties of Markov parameters. The results of this paper are shown in simulations on MBC500 Magnetic Bearing System and a given interval system.

  • In this paper, the formulas for calculating the extremal ranks and inertias of the Hermitian least squares solutions to matrix equation AX = B are established. In particular, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existences of the positive and nonnegative definite solutions to this matrix equation are given. Meanwhile, the least squares problem of the above matrix equation with Hermitian R-symmetric and R-skew symmetric constraints are also investigated.

  • We prove some sharp extremal distance results for functions in various spaces of analytic functions on bounded strictly pseudoconvex domains with smooth boundary. Also, we obtain atomic decompositions in multifunctional Bloch and weighted Bergman spaces of analytic functions on strictly pseudoconvex domains with smooth boundary, which extend known results in the classical case of a single function.

  • Given a closed subset of the family $S^{*}(\alpha)$ of functions starlike of order $\alpha$, a continuous Frechet differentiable functional J, is constructed with this collection as the solution set to the extremal problem ReJ(f) over $S^{*}(\alpha)$. The support points of $S^{*}(\alpha)$ is completely characterized and shown to coincide with the extreme points of its convex hulls. Given any finite collection of support points of $S^{*}(\alpha)$ a continuous linear functional J, is constructed with this collection as the solution set to the extremal problem ReJ(f) over $S^{*}(\alpha)$.

  • IN this note we study more about the omitted are for the extremal functions and its {{{{ {π } over {4 } }}}}-property based upon Schiffer's variational method and zBrickman-Wilken's result. we give an example other than the Koebe function which is both a support point of S and the extreme point of HS. Furthermore, we discuss the relations between the support points and the L wner chain.

  • Let G be a Denjoy domain and let G' a Denjoy proper subdomain of G and homeomorphic to G. We consider conformal re-imbeddings of G' into G. Let G and G' are N-connected. We know that if N = 2, there is a re-imbedding f of G' into G such that G - cl(f(G')) has an interior point. In this note, we obtain the following theorem. If $N{\geq}3$, G has a Denjoy proper subdomain G' such that, for any re-imbeddings f of G' into G, G - cl(f(G') has no interior point.

  • In this paper, we introduce the k-Hankel-Wigner transform on R in some problems of time-frequency analysis. As a first point, we present some harmonic analysis results such as Plancherel's, Parseval's and an inversion formulas for this transform. Next, we prove a Heisenberg's uncertainty principle and a Calderón's reproducing formula for this transform. We conclude this paper by studying an extremal function for this transform.

  • Derivation of reasonable design low flows was attempted by comparative analysis of design low flows was derived by Power and SMEMAX transformations for the normalizations of skewed distribution and by Type m extremal distribution presented in the first report of this study with annual low flows in the five watersheds of main river basins in Korea. The results were anslyzed and summarized as follows. 1.Basic statistics of annual low flows for the selected watersheds were calculated by using Power and SMEMAX transformations. 2.Power thansformation has found to be the best for the normalization of skewed distribution among others including log, square root and SMEMAX transformations. 3.Design low flows for the selected watersheds were derived by the Power and SMEMAX transformations. 4.Judging by the relative suitabilities of the Type III extremal distribution, Power and SMEMAX transformation, it was found that design low flows of all methods are closer to the observed data within 10 years of the return period and those of Power transformation can be acknowledzed as a reasonable one among others from the viewpoint of the median between values of Type m extremal distribution and SMEMAX transformation in addition to closing the observed than others over 10 years of the return period.
