  • In this paper, analytical methods for calculating the average probability of bit error of direct sequence pulse amplitude modulation ultra wideband (DS-PAM UWB) system and time hopping pulse position modulation ultra wideband (TH-PPM UWB) system are given. For the multi-user DS-PAM UWB system, the bipolar pulse amplitude modulation is used in order to achieve better performance. As we know, more attention is paid to the TH-PPM UWB systems recently. In this paper. we first introduce the accurate BER calculation methods of the multi-user DS-PAM UWB and TH-PPM UWB systems and then give the performance analysis over the ideal AWGN channel and a correlation receiver. Furthermore, we also introduce their applications in image transmission and data transmission and give the simulation results. The analytical method yields simple and exact formulas relating the performance to the system parameters.

  • For unknown reasons, a few trees in a private chestnut orchard in Icheon si, Gyunggi-do suffered leaf chlorosis and growth decline. Based on symptoms, phytoplasma was a probable cause. Leaf samples were collected from two symptomatic and non-symptomatic trees in the orchard for phytoplasma detection. An amplicon of about 1.2 bp size was obtained from both symptomatic trees by PCR with the universal 16S rDNA primers. Sequences of these amplicons were found to have 99% nucleotide sequence identity to the corresponding genomic region of 16SrIII (X-disease group). More than 100 phytoplasma isolates, such as Candidatus phytoplasma pruni, Milkweed yellows phytoplasma, Goldenrod yellows phytoplasma, Tsuwabuki witches'-broom phytoplasma, Candidatus Phytoplasma trifolii, etc. were involved in the list. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the sequence obtained in this study closely clustered with Candidatus phytoplasma groups. While one of the amplicons shared 91% identity with the Candidatus phytoplasma castaneae, the other shared only 47%. It needs further analysis and investigation to determine the exact taxonomy. Meanwhile, based on the analysis of the sequences, chlorosis, and small leaves were associated with phytoplasma.

  • This paper continues a line investigation in [1]. Let A be a K-algebra and M an A/K-bimodule. In [5] Hamaguchi gave a necessary and sufficient condition for gDer(A, M) to be isomorphic to BDer(A, M). The main aim of this paper is to establish similar relationships for generalized ($\sigma$, $\tau$)-derivations.

  • $H_v$-rings first were introduced by Vougiouklis in 1990. Then Darafsheh and the present author defined the $H_v$-ring of fractions $S_{-1}R$ of a commutative hyperring. The largest class of multivalued systems satisfying the module-like axioms is the Hv-module. In this paper we define $H_v$-module of fractions of a hypermodule. Some interesting results concerning this $H_v$-module is proved.

  • Kanenobu has given infinite families of knots with the same HOMFLY polynomial invariant but distinct Alexander module structure. In this paper, we give a recursive formula for the Khovanov cohomology of all Kanenobu knots K(p, q), where p and q are integers. The result implies that the rank of the Khovanov cohomology of K(p, q) is an invariant of p + q. Our computation uses only the basic long exact sequence in knot homology and some results on homologically thin knots.

  • From a notion of d-pseudo-orthogonality for a sequence of poly-nomials ($d\;\in\;{2,3,\cdots}$), this paper introduces three different characterizations of natural exponential families (NEF's) with polynomial variance functions of exact degree 2d-1. These results provide extended versions of the Meixner (1934), Shanbhag (1972, 1979) and Feinsilver (1986) characterization results of quadratic NEF's based on classical orthogonal polynomials. Some news sets of polynomials with (2d-1)-term recurrence relation are then pointed out and we completely illustrate the cases associated to the families of positive stable distributions.

  • In this work, we successfully extended dimensional differential transform method (DTM), by presenting and proving some new theorems, to solve the non-linear matrix differential Riccati equations(first and second kind of Riccati matrix differential equations). This technique provides a sequence of matrix functions which converges to the exact solution of the problem. Examples show that the method is effective.

  • For any category with a distinguished collection of sequences, such as n-exangulated category, category of N-complexes and category of precomplexes, we consider its Grothendieck group and similar results of Bergh-Thaule for n-angulated categories [1] are proven. A classification result of dense complete subcategories is given and we give a formal definition of K-groups for these categories following Grayson's algebraic approach of K-theory for exact categories [4].

  • We show that certain extensions of classifiable C*-algebras are strongly classified by the associated six-term exact sequence in K-theory together with the positive cone of K0-groups of the ideal and quotient. We use our results to completely classify all unital graph C*-algebras with exactly one non-trivial ideal.
