  • In this paper, the design methodology of digital fuzzy controller(DFC) for the systems with time-delay is presented and the qualitative effects of the quantizers in digital implementation of a fuzzy controllers are investigated. We propose the fuzzy feed-back controller whose output is delayed with unit sampling period and period and predicted. the analysis and the design problem considering time-delay become very easy because the proposed controller is syncronized with the sampling time. The stabilization problem of the digital fuzzy system with time-delay is solved by linear matrix inequality(LMI) theory. Furthermore, we analyze the stability of the quantized fuzzy system. Our results prove that when quantization os taken into account, one only has convergence to some small neighborhood about origin. We develop a fuzzy control system for backing up a computer-simulated truck-trailer with the consideration of time-delay and quantization effect. By using the proposed method, we analyze the quantization effect to the system and design a DFC which guarantees the stability of the control system in the presence of time-delay.

  • In this paper, well-known Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is used as the nonlinear plant model and uncertainty is assumed to be included in the model structure with known bounds. Based on the fuzzy models, a numerical robust stability analysis for the fuzzy feedback linearization regulator is presented using Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMI) Theory. For these structured uncertainty, the closed system can be cast into Lur'e system by simple transformation. From the LMI stability condition for Lur'e system, we can derive the robust stability condition for the fuzzy feedback linearization regulator based on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. The effectiveness of the proposed analysis is illustrated by a simple example.

  • This paper deals with the adaptive backstepping hovering control for a quadrotor with model parameter uncertainties. In this paper, the backstepping based technique is utilized to design a nonlinear adaptive controller which can compensate for the motor thrust factor and the drag coefficient of a quadrotor. First, the quadrotor nonlinear dynamics is derived using Newton-Euler formulation. In particular, we use the ${\pi}/4$ shifted coordinate for x- and y-axis of a quadrotor. Second, an adaptive backstepping based attitude and altitude tracking control method is presented. The system stability and the convergence of tracking errors are proven using the Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, the simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

  • This paper describes the control of a solenoid valve of ESC(Electronic Stability Control) with hydraulic modulator in braking system. ESC ECU(Electronic Control Unit) to control the high-frequency control and slope control method was applied, the surge pressure and EMI(electromagnetic interference) reduction characteristics were studied. The stage of ECU output was added the slope shaping function to reduce electromagnetic emission at higher frequencies. Measurements show that this high frequency ECU manages to reduce the surge pressure and electromagnetic emission by the control of solenoid valve. In conclusion, by using the results of this study for the high frequency ECU control, we could expect enhancement of braking system performance.

  • The results of the experiment that was conducted on the electron emission property and the long-term stability of the emission current in various carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-based field emitters with a CNT/catalyst/buffer/W-tip configuration are presented herein. CNT-based field emitters were fabricated by varying the (TiN, Al/Ni/TiN) buffer layer and the (Ni, Co) catalyst material. This study aimed to elucidate how the buffer layers and catalyst materials affect the structural properties of CNTs and the long-term stability of CNT emitters. Raman spectroscopy, field emission SEM, and high-resolution TEM were used to analyze the crystalline structure, surface morphologies, and nanostructures of all the grown CNTs. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to monitor the chemical bonds of all the buffer layers and catalysts. Electron emission measurement and a long-term (up to 40h) stability test were carried out using a compactly designed field emission measurement system.

  • In this paper, a new dual-rate digital control technique for the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy system is suggested. The proposed method takes account of the stabilizablity of the discrete-time T-S fuzzy system at the fast-rate sampling points. Our main idea is to utilize the lifted control input. The proposed approach is to obtain the dual-rate discrete-time T-S fuzzy system by discretizing the overall dynamics of the T-S fuzzy system with the lifted control, and then to derive the sufficient conditions for the stabilization in the sense of the Lyapunov asymptotic stability for this system. An example is provided for showing the feasibility of the proposed discretization method.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of robust stability of discretd time-delay systems subjected to perturbations. Two classes of perturbations are treated. The first one is the nonlinear norm-bounded perturbation, and the second is the structured time-varying parametric perturbation. Based on the discrete-time Lyapunov stability theory, several new sufficient conditions for robust stability of the system are presented. From these conditions, we can estimate the maximum allowable bounds of the perturbations which guarantee the stability. Finally, numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the results.

  • This paper presents design and control of a quarter-vehicle magneto-rheological (MR) suspension system for ECS (electronic control suspension). In order to achieve this goal, MR shock absorber is designed and manufactured based on the optimized damping force levels and mechanical dimensions required for a commercial mid-sized passenger vehicle. After experimentally evaluating dynamic characteristics of the manufactured MR shock absorber, the quarter-vehicle MR suspension system consisting of sprung mass, spring, tire and the MR shock absorber is constructed in order to investigate the ride comfort and driving stability. After deriving the equations of the motion for the proposed quarter-vehicle MR suspension system, the skyhook controller is then implemented for the realization of quarter-vehicle MR suspension system. In order to present control performance of MR shock absorber for ECS, ride comfort and driving stability characteristics such as vertical acceleration of sprung mass and tire deflection are experimentally evaluated under various road conditions and presented in both time and frequency domain.

  • The Electronic Stability Program (ESP), a system that improves vehicle safety, also known as YMC (Yaw Motion Controller) or VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control), is a system that operates in unstable or sudden driving and braking situations. Developing conditions such as unstable or sudden driving and braking situations in a vehicle are very dangerous unless you are an experienced professional driver. Additionally, many repetitive tests are required to collect reliable data, and there are many variables to consider such as changes in the weather, road surface, and tire condition. To overcome this problem, in this paper, hardware and control software such as the ESP controller, vehicle engine, ABS, and TCS module, composed of three control zones, are modeled using MATLAB/SIMULINK, and the vehicle, climate, and road surface. Various environmental variables such as the driving course were modeled and studied for the real-time ESP real-time simulator that can be repeatedly tested under the same conditions.
