  • The global warming by greenhouse gases causes climate change and disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis frequently, leading to great damage. It is important to build efficient and scalable disaster response services to minimize the damage. Existing disaster warning service by the mobile text is limited by the scalability and the data size to be delivered. In this paper, we propose a framework for disaster response services that is efficient and flexible by allowing to adopt various indexing schemes and scalable by supporting any number of clients in disaster situations anytime and anywhere. Also, the framework by wireless data broadcast can be free from the limitation of the size of data to be delivered. We design and implement the proposed framework and evaluate the framework. For the evaluation, we simulate the implemented framework by adopting various indexing schemes like HCI, DSI and TTSI, and by comparing the access times of the clients. Through the evaluation, we show that the proposed framework can provide efficient and scalable and flexible disaster response services.

  • In this paper presents the MPPT tracking algorithm using angle control of flexible PV in BIPV. The proposed algorithm is based on MPPT tracking algorithm for curtain wall using flexible PV. It is an algorithm to find optimal power generation condition by controlling the angle of flexible PV using the air layer of window. The angle of flexible PV tests the power generation by separating the center of flexible PV into the interior angle in the interior direction and the external angle in the center of flexible PV. When the angle of flexible PV was used as interior angle, the generation amount was increased by 15.79% and increased by 8.45% compared with the external angle. MPPT tracking is performed on the generation amount of the interior angle which has the most power after comparing the generation amount according to the bending shape of the flexible PV. This algorithm can be the most efficient method for the curtain wall using flexible PV because the bending pattern with the greatest amount of power generation may be different because the environment of the building applying the curtain wall is different.

  • A virtual work form of flexible multibody dynamic formulation with rotary inertia has been derived. For the analysis of large flexible multibody systems, deformation modal coordinates have been employed to represent coupled motion between gross and vibrational motion. For the efficient evaluation of the entries in the mass matrix, a flexible body has been treated as a collection of mass points. The rotary inertia was generated from the consistent mass matrix in a finite element model. Deformation mode shapes were obtained from finite element analysis. Bending and twisting vibration analyses of a cantilever have been carried out to see rotary inertia effects. A space flexible robot simulation has been also carried out to show effectiveness of the proposed formulation. This formulation is effective to the model that consists of beam, plate, or shell element that contains rotational degree of freedom at the nodal point. It is also effective to the flexible body model to which a large lumped rotary inertia is attached.

  • This paper extends the authors' prior work on the regulation of flexible space structures via partial feedback linearization (PFL) methods to articulated systems. Recursive relations introduced by Jain and Rodriguez are central to the efficient formulation of models via Poincare's form of Lagrange's equations. Such models provide for easy construction of feedback linearizing control laws. Adaptation is shown to be an effective way of reducing sensitivity to uncertain parameters. An application to a flexible platform with mobile remote manipulator system is highlighted.

  • All-solid-state solar cell based on Chloride doped organometallic halide perovskite, (CH3NH3)PbIxCl3-x, has achieved a highly power conversion efficiency (PCE) to over 15% [1] and further improvements are expected up to 20% [2]. In this way, solar cells using novel light absorbing perovskite material are actively being studied as a next generation solar cells. However, making solution-process require high temperature up to $500^{\circ}C$ to form compact hole blocking layer and sinter the mesoporous oxide scaffold layer. Because of this high temperature process, fabrication of flexible solar cells on plastic substrate is still troubleshooting. In this study, we fabricated highly efficient flexible perovskite solar cells with PCE in excess of 11%. Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is used to deposit dense $TiO_2$ as hole blocking layer on ITO/PEN substrate. The all fabrication process is done at low temperature below $150^{\circ}C$. This work shows that one of the important blueprint for commercial use of perovskite solar cells.

  • Three technical obstacles must be overcome to build a fruitful business in the nascent industry of flexible microelectronics: the self-heating effect of thin film transistors (TFTs), the thermal and mechanical durability of flexible devices, and the cost issue. The self-heating effect is controlled through TFT shape, TFT electrical performance, dimensional reduction and energy-efficient circuits. Plastic engineering is one of the keys to solving thermal and mechanical durability problems faced by flexible microelectronics devices. For the Suftla flexible microelectronics business to be viable, Suftla transfer yield must be sufficiently high to keep down device cost. Improving the transfer yield is not easy, but it is the same challenge already faced and cleared in the TFT liquid crystal display industry.

  • Quantum dots (QDs) are an attractive material for application in solar energy conversion devices because of their unique properties including facile band-gap tuning, a high-absorption coefficient, low-cost processing, and the potential multiple exciton generation effect. Recently, highly efficient quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs) have been developed based on CdSe, PbS, CdS, and Cu-In-Se QDs. However, for the commercialization and wide application of these QDSCs, replacing the conventional rigid glass substrates with flexible substrates is required. Here, we demonstrate flexible CISe QDSCs based on vertically aligned $TiO_2$ nanotube (NT) electrodes. The highly uniform $TiO_2$ NT electrodes are prepared by two-step anodic oxidation. Using these flexible photoanodes and semi-transparent Pt counter electrodes, we fabricate the QDSCs and examine their photovoltaic properties. In particular, photovoltaic performances are optimized by controlling the nanostructure of $TiO_2$ NT electrodes.

  • In order to find out relationship between hit probability and gun firing of a moving tank, a turret and flexible gun system model has been developed using a recursive flexible multibody dynamics. For a firing simulation model, nodal coordinates for a finite element model of a flexible gun have been employed to include transverse loads to the gun tube due to moving bullet and ballistic pressure. Modal coordinates are also used to represent the motion induced gun vibration before a firing occurs. An efficient switching technique from modal equations to nodal equation has been introduced for an entire gun firing simulation with a rotating turret.

  • This paper presents a computational method for deformation modes of a flexible body in multibody system from the experimental modal analysis and an efficient method for flexible multibody dynamic analysis by use of the modes. It is difficult to directly use experimental modal parameters in flexible multibody dynamic analysis. The major reasons are that there are many inconsistencies between experimental and analytical modal data and experimental noises are inherent in the experimental data. So two methods, such as, a method for ortho-normalization of experimental modes and the other one for mode expansion, are suggested to gain deformation modes of a flexible body from the experimental modal parameters. Using the virtual work principle, the equation of motion of a flexible body is derived. The effectiveness of the proposed method will be verified in the numerical example of cab vibration of a truck by comparing analysis and test results.

  • The flexible solid state device has been widely studied as portable and wearable device applications such as display, sensor and curved circuits. A zero-bias operation without any external power consumption is a highly-demanding feature of semiconductor devices, including optical communication, environment monitoring and digital imaging applications. Moreover, the flexibility of device would give the degree of freedom of transparent electronics. Functional and transparent abrupt p/n junction device has been realized by combining of p-type NiO and n-type ZnO metal oxide semiconductors. The use of a plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film substrate spontaneously allows the flexible feature of the devices. The functional design of p-NiO/n-ZnO metal oxide device provides a high rectifying ratio of 189 to ensure the quality junction quality. This all transparent metal oxide device can be operated without external power supply. The flexible p-NiO/n-ZnO device exhibit substantial photodetection performances of quick response time of $68{\mu}s$. We may suggest an efficient design scheme of flexible and functional metal oxide-based transparent electronics.
