For this study, the social welfare workers of local child care center in Jeollanam-do were surveyed. A total of 240 questionnaires which had been collected were used for analysis. This study analyzed the effect of social support on job satisfaction by defining the demographic characteristics of social welfare workers as the control variables. The results of the analysis showed that the social support had the greatest influence on job satisfaction. Such results suggest that the stronger social support for social welfare workers would increase the job satisfaction of social welfare workers. Based on the results of the analysis, the following recommendations are presented which can help increase social support for social welfare workers: First, it is necessary to standardize the works of social welfare workers at local child care center and provide them with specialized training and education. Second, additional points should be granted to excellent local child care centers. Third, a cooperation system needs to be established which links the networks of colleagues and local societies.

The study led to the following conclusions: First, all three groups are risk groups of PTSD, especially, subway operators demonstrated the highest degree. Child protective service workers demonstrated the highest degree of PTG and emergency workers and subway operators followed respectively. Second, vicarious trauma and PTG were significantly correlated, in particular, invasion and avoidance were more highly correlated. Third, multivariate analysis revealed that occupation, invasion, avoidance, religion, and sex were significantly associated with PTG. Discussion addresses the need to serve mental health service and to apply concept of PTG for occupations exposed to trauma.

  • Although the need for global citizenship education (GCE) has been emphasized globally, Korea lacks GCE for child welfare workers who affect children's global citizenship. In response, this study analyzed the reality of educational needs by (a) investigating domestic and international GCE policies, (b) doing the in-depth interviews with experts, and (c) surveying workers. According to the policy analysis, GCE in Korea has been mainly conducted through the school system but it was conducted in various ways worldwide. The need to expand GCE in Korea was also emphasized in the in-depth interview. The survey analysis showed that the path relationship among awareness-interest-desire to participate in GCE was significant, indicating that increasing awareness and interest for GCE was effective in real action. Based on this, we confirmed that GCE is a necessary education for child welfare workers, emphasized the need to raise awareness of GCE based on the AIDA model, and presented indicators that can be used for GCE.

For this purpose, data from 181 workers in community children's centers and 96 workers in child protection agencies and foster care centers were analyzed, the analyzed by using SPSS 21.0 program. In the case of community children's center interpersonal skills, case management guidelines, super vision, and network utilization were the influential factors while in other child welfare facilities, personal inhibitory factors, social welfare work experience, case management experience, and network utilization were the affecting factors. The implications reveal that social welfare practice should enhance the interpersonal skills of the workers, strengthen the supervision system, and provide a clear case management guideline. • Based on the framework of self-determination theory and past relevant literature, the study develops and estimates a causal relationship between intrinsic motivation, career commitment, and turnover intention. The study utilizes data from a cross-sectional survey conducted on 353 child welfare workers of the fields of foster care, child protective services, and child residential care all over the country. The study relies on Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) method. The results of Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicate the validity of measurement model. The results of SEM tests show a good fit of the proposed model. Controlling the level of salary and the working hours of the workers, the model reveals that intrinsic motivation is positively related to career commitment, and that career commitment is negatively related to turnover intention. In other words, the effect of intrinsic motivation on turnover intention is mediated by career commitment. Implications of the findings for practice and study limitations are discussed.
