  • This paper discusses power balance control of photovoltaic/wind/diesel hybrid generation system for remote area power supplies. There are many control methods for hybrid power system. Among others, it must be adopted that the control method to guarantee a stable balance between supply and demand, regardless of the fluctuation of generator power by atmospheric changes. In this paper, it Is proposed that a hybrid generation system has a power-balanced controller to equilibrate generation power with a load demand, which is composed of DC bus-type power systems. To execute power balance control, it is assumed that all of power generators have a equivalent current-source characteristics. Through the results of simulation, the proposed scheme was verified.

  • Due to lack of hydrogen charging stations and hydrogen supply compared to the supply of hydrogen vehicles, social phenomena such as 2-hour queues and restrictions on charging capacity are occurring, which negatively affects the spread of hydrogen vehicles. In order to resolve these problems, it is essential to have a strategic operation of the hydrogen charging stations. To establish operational strategies, it is necessary to derive customer demand patterns and characteristics through the analysis of sales data. This study derived the demand patterns and characteristics of customers visiting hydrogen charging stations through data analysis from various perspectives, such as charging volume, charging speed, number of visits, and correlation with external factors, based on the hydrogen sales data of off-site hydrogen charging stations located in domestic residential areas.

  • South Korea entered an aged society phase in 2017 with the elderly accounting for 14% or higher of the entire population. It is expected to enter a super-aged society phase in 2026. The mobility handicapped, including the disabled and the elderly, are expected to grow continuously, and the demand for transport service for the mobility handicapped will definitely increase further. Thus, there is thus a need for various research to increase the utilization rate of low-floor buses among the mobility handicapped. This study analyzed the locations of getting on and off transportation means, time of departure and arrival, purpose of use, and frequency of use by the day among the mobility handicapped by making use of the information about their use of special transport service run by the mobility support center for the mobility handicapped. The study then proposed a method of selecting locations for low-floor bus stops to reflect the distribution and need of getting on and off transportation means among the mobility handicapped with such spatial analysis techniques as geocoding, overlapping analysis, buffer analysis, and generate tessellations. Finally, the study selected 228 locations for low-floor bus stops in Cheonan and reported a need to add 35 low-floor bus stops after eliminating the ones where the locations overlapped the old ones.

  • To alleviate the demand on private car that is constantly increasing, Busan Metropolitan City (BMC) has established Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to revitalize public transportation. But there are no unified lane system between BRT and general bus stations, which makes off-lane turning general bus to contribute to congestion. And as the bottleneck phenomenon at entrance/exit accelerates the congestion, there has been huge dissatisfaction among commuting drivers. Therefore, this study identifies efficient methods to operate better through measuring civilian awareness. We evaluate both satisfaction and drawbacks on BRT service with Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). We first distinguish the groups by the awareness on BRT and their main transit usage, and then clarify the difference between the groups. And as a result, the group who is positive to BRT and uses buses often demands improvement in bus indoor comfort and curbing jaywalking. On the other hand, group who is negative to BRT and uses private cars often demands improvement in lane changing and the moving speed of private cars. We next examines the groups with MDPREF, one method of Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). And we have clarified that the evaluating criteria and the individual attributes of the groups corresponds very well.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose policies to improve and revitalize rural bus services in Jeollabuk-do in the future by identifying the factors that affect service satisfaction and policy satisfaction and the relationship between them, targeting rural bus users in 4 cities and counties in Jeollabuk-do. In the four cities and counties in the study area, the number of rural bus users is continuously decreasing, and various transportation policies, such as unification of bus fares and demand-response transportation, are being piloted to promote bus use. In this study, three major service quality factors that affect rural bus service satisfaction and policy satisfaction were derived after a literature review. Modifying the research model presented in previous studies, we have presented a research model to verify the relationship between the three factors affecting service satisfaction and policy satisfaction, and the relationship between service satisfaction and policy satisfaction. For the verification of the research model, a total of 520 survey data collected from passengers near bus stops and bus terminals in four cities and counties, Gochang, Gimje, Buan, and Jeongeup, were used. As a result of the verification, it was found that the three factors of economic feasibility, convenience, and safety had a statistically positive (+) effect on service satisfaction, but only convenience and safety had a positive (+) effect on policy satisfaction. Contrary to the research hypothesis, it was found that there was no statistically significant relationship between service satisfaction and policy satisfaction. Although the result is different from the research hypothesis, it was a meaningful result that can make policy suggestions on the improvement of the unified fare system policy, service satisfaction, and policy satisfaction to Jeollabuk-do rural bus transportation policy makers and working-level officers. In conclusion, based on the results of research analysis, the unified fare system, and transportation policy, measures to improve service satisfaction and policy satisfaction were presented.

  • The probabilistic nature of renewable energy, especially wind energy, increases the needs for new forms of planning and operating with electrical power. This paper presents a novel approach for determining the short-term generation schedule for optimal operations of wind energy-integrated power systems. The proposed probabilistic security-constrained optimal power flow (P-SCOPF) considers dispatch, network, and security constraints in pre- and post-contingency states. The method considers two sources of uncertainty: power demand and wind speed. The power demand is assumed to follow a normal distribution, while the correlated wind speed is modeled by the Weibull distribution. A Monte Carlo simulation is used to choose input variables of power demand and wind speed from their probability distribution functions. Then, P-SCOPF can be applied to the input variables. This approach was tested on a modified IEEE 30-bus system with two wind farms. The results show that the proposed approach provides information on power system economics, security, and environmental parameters to enable better decision-making by system operators.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify demand and methods of projection, including to prove the variables affecting the fluctuation of visitors and to analyze the relationship between these variables in National Park. Statistical analysis method (Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, ANOVA, and Model diagnostics) was carried out by computer program SAS/pc. 13 variables (1. Total Population, 2. Per Capita PDI, 3. Employment Ratio of S.O.C. & others, 4. NO. of Passenger Car, 5. Length of Roads, 6. Leisure Expenditure of Farm Household, 7. Leisure Expenditure of Urban Household, 8. Price Index, 9. NO. of Bus, 10. Exchange on Dollars, 11. Export, 12. Import, and 13. Visitors in National Park) had been used to this study. The scope of time period is during the last 17 years (1970-1986). The results were as follows; 1) Participation depends only on the specific characteristics of the economic factors (Price Index and Leisure Expenditure of Urban Household). These factors are the importance factors directly affecting the participation of visitors. The statistical Model for projecting the visitors in National Parks is the function of "Visitors in National Parks (thousand)=14915+0.210311*Leisure Expenditure of Urband Household (won)-157.835619*Price Index(1985=100)" 2) The external factors affecting the participation depends upon the interelated features of availability and accessibility (NO. of Passenger Car, Length of Roads, and NO. of Bus) of recreation resources or sites, and the economic factors (Per Capita PDI, Export, and Import). These factors are the factors indirectly affecting the participation of visitors. 3) The participation depends on the specific characteristics of demographic factors (Total Population and Employment Ratio of S.O.C. & others). These factors are the factors indirectly affecting the participation of visitors. 4) The unexpected fluctuation of yearly visitors depends on oil shock or inflation (1971, 1973-1974, 1979-1980), promulgation of national emergency decrees (1971-1972, 1974-1975, 1979-1980), and national events (assassination of president Park's wife, Madame Yuk in 1974 and president Park I 1979).
