  • This paper proposes an approximate LCA methodology fur the conceptual design stage by grouping products according to their environmental characteristics and by mapping product attributes Into impact driver (ID) index. The relationship Is statistically verified by exploring the correlation between total impact indicator and energy impact category. Then an artificial neural network model is developed to predict an approximate LCA of grouping products in conceptual design stage. The training is generalized by using identified product attributes for an ID In a group as well as another product attributes for another IDs in other groups. The neural network model with back propagation algorithm is used and the results are compared with those of multiple regression analysis. The proposed approach does not replace the full LCA but it would give an approximate LCA results for design concepts.

  • This paper presents a methodology for determining machining conditions in Electric Discharge Wire-Cut. Unification of two phase neural network approach with an automatic generation of machining parameters is designed. The first phase neural network, which is 1 to M backward-mapping neural net, produces approximate machining conditions. Using approximate conditions, all possible conditions are newly created by the proposed automatic generation procedure. The second phase neural net, which is a M to 1 forward-mapping neural net, determines the best one among the generated candidates. Simulation results with ANN are given to verify that the presenting methodology could apply for determining machining parameters in Electric Discharge Wire-Cut.

  • This paper is a survey on the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the Jensen functional equation in $C^*$-algebras. The concept of Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability originated from the Th.M. Rassias' stability theorem that appeared in his paper: On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 72 (1978), 297-300. Its content is divided into the following sections: 1. Introduction and preliminaries. 2. Approximate isomorphisms in $C^*$-algebras. 3. Approximate isomorphisms in Lie $C^*$-algebras. 4. Approximate isomorphisms in $JC^*$-algebras. 5. Stability of derivations on a $C^*$-algebra. 6. Stability of derivations on a Lie $C^*$-algebra. 7. Stability of derivations on a $JC^*$-algebra.

  • Approximate fixed point property problem for Mann iteration sequence of a nonexpansive mapping has been resolved on a Banach space independent of uniform (strict) convexity by Ishikawa [Fixed points and iteration of a nonexpansive mapping in a Banach space, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 59 (1976), 65-71]. In this paper, we solve this problem for a class of mappings wider than the class of asymptotically nonexpansive mappings on an arbitrary normed space. Our results generalize and extend several known results.

  • In this paper, we approximate a fuzzy almost cubic function by a cubic function in a fuzzy sense. Indeed, we investigate solutions of the following cubic functional equation $$3f(kx+y)+3f(kx-y)-kf(x+2y)-2kf(x-y)-3k(2k^2-1)f(x)+6kf(y)=0$$. and prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability for it in fuzzy Banach spaces.

  • Using the fixed point method, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the following functional equation in multi-Banach spaces: $${\sum_{1{\leq}i_<j{\leq}n}}\;f(\frac{r_ix_i+r_jx_j}{k})=\frac{n-1}{k}{\sum_{i=1}^n}r_if(x_i)$$.

  • The approximate solvability of a generalized system for non-linear variational inequality in Hilbert spaces was studied, based on the convergence of projection methods. But little research was done in Banach space. The primary reason was that projection mapping lacked preferably property in Banach space. In this paper, we introduced the generalized projection methods. By using these methods, the results presented in this paper extended the main results of S. S. Chang [3] from Hilbert spaces to Banach space.

  • In this paper, we introduce and study a system of mixed variational inequalities in Banach spaces. By using J-proximal mapping and its Lipschitz continuity for a nonconvex, lower semicontinuous, subdifferentiable, proper functional, an iterative algorithm for computing the approximate solutions of system of mixed variational inequalities is suggested and analyzed. The convergence criteria of the iterative sequences generated by iterative algorithm is also discussed.

  • In this paper, we obtain the stability of the additive-quadratic functional equation f(x+y, z+w)+f(x+y, z-w) = 2f(x, z)+2f(x, w)+2f(y, z)+2f(y, w) and the bi-Jensen functional equation $$4f(\frac{x+y}{2},\;\frac{z+w}{2})=f(x,\;z)+f(x,\;w)+f(y,\;z)+f(y,\;w)$$ in 2-Banach spaces.
