포트폴리오를 활용한 과학 기반 STEAM 수업이 초등학생들의 과학 개념 형성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Science-based STEAM Program using a Portfolio on Elementary Students' Formation of Science Concepts)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of science-based STEAM program using a portfolio on elementary students' formation of science concepts and investigate students' opinion about the program. The developed program was applied to 1 experimental class(10 boys and 12 girls) and general science lessons, using a science textbook, was applied to 1 controlled class(11 boys and 13 girls) of $5^{th}$ grade students at S elementary school in Seoul through a total 6 sessions. Concept tests of the solar system were conducted before and after lessons and analysis of covariance was conducted. The results of this study were as follows. First, science-based STEAM program using a portfolio was effective to form science concepts. Second, students opinion about science-based STEAM program using a portfolio was positive. Students think the program was effective in understanding science contents, promoting thinking, self-motivation. It is expected that this study will be basic material to expand STEAM in science education.

고교학점제 수강 고등학생을 위한 데이터과학교육 프로그램 개발 (Development of a Data Science Education Program for High School Students Taking the High School Credit System)

  • 본 연구에서는 고교학점제에서 데이터과학 과목을 신청한 학생들을 위하여 교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 이에 데이터과학교육에 대하여 기존 연구와 요구사항을 분석하고 학습 계획을 설계하였으며, 단계별 교육 프로그램에 따라 교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 또한 기존 연구에서 고교학점제를 위한 데이터과학교육에 대한 연구가 활발하지 않았으므로 기존의 학교 현장에서 연구되었던 데이터 과학 교육에 대한 연구를 참고하여 문제 정의, 데이터 수집, 데이터 전처리, 데이터 분석, 데이터 시각화, 모의 분석의 단계로 연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 고교학점제에서 데이터과학교육에 대한 연구가 더욱 활발해질 것으로 기대한다.

  • 본 연구는 학교 숲 체험 프로그램이 초등학교 학생의 과학탐구능력 및 과학에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 학교 숲 프로그램 개발 및 보급에 도움이 될 시사점을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 실험반과 비교반을 정하고 사전검사 후, 실험반은 자체 개발한 학교 숲 체험 활동 프로그램 10차시를, 비교반은 같은 차시 동안 사진 자료와 교사의 설명, 학습지를 활용한 수업을 실시하였다. 수업 후 사후검사를 하였고 실험반은 학교 숲 체험 활동 프로그램을 경험한 소감을 인터뷰 형식으로 조사하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다: 첫째, 학교 숲 체험 활동 프로그램이 학생들의 과학탐구능력의 평균 점수에 있어서의 향상 폭이 비교반 보다 더 크긴 했지만 그것이 유의미한 결과는 아닌 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교 숲 체험활동 프로그램이 학생들의 과학에 대한 태도 향상에 유의미한 효과를 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. '과학의 사회적 의의', '과학자의 평범성', '과학탐구에 대한 태도', '과학 수업의 즐거움', '과학에 대한 취미로서의 관심', '과학에 대한 직업으로서의 관심' 등 모든 하위 영역에서 유의미한 효과가 나타났다. 그리고 인터뷰를 통하여 학생들은 학교 숲 체험 활동 프로그램에 대해서 흥미롭게 생각했으며 만족도 또한 높았음을 알 수 있었고 그것이 과학에 대한 태도가 긍정적으로 향상하는데 기여했을 것으로 판단된다.

Inhibition of Histone Deacetylase Activity Diminishes Pressure Overloaded Cardiac Hypertrophy in Mice

  • To explore the role of histone deactylase (HDAC) activation in an in vivo model of hypertrophy, we studied the effects of Trichostatin A (TSA). TSA subjected to thoracic aortic banding (TAB)-induced pressure stress in mice. In histological observations, TAB in treated mice showed a significant hypertrophic response, whereas the sham operation remained nearly normal structure with partially blunted hypertrophy. TSA treatment had no effect (measured as HW/BW) on sham-operated animals. TAB animals treated with vehicle manifested a robust ~50% hypertrophic response (p<0.05 vs sham). TAB mice treated with 2 mg/kg/day TSA manifested a blunted growth responses, which was significantly diminished (p<0.05) compared with vehicle-treated TAB mice. TAB mice treated with a lower dose of TSA (0.5 mg/kg/day) manifested a similar blunting of hypertrophic growth (~25% increase in heart mass). Furthermore, to determine activity duration of TSA in vitro, 1 nM TSA was added to H9c2 cells. Histone acetylation was initiated at 4 hr after treatment, and it was peak up to 18 hr, then followed by significantly reduced to 30 hr. We also analyzed the expression of p53 following TSA treatment, wherein p53 expression was elevated at 4 hr, and it was maintained to 24 hr after treatment. ERK was activated at 8 hr, and maintained till 30 hr after treatment suggesting an intracellular signaling interaction between TSA and p53 expression Taken together, it is suggested that HDAC activation is required for pressure-overload growth of the heart. Eventually, these data suggest that histone acetylation may be a novel target for therapeutic intervention in pressure-overloaded cardiac hypertrophy.

전방십자인대 재건술 환자의 운동프로그램 참여 시기에 따른 등척성 근기능 비교 (Comparison of the Isometric Myofunction on Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Patients according to the Time of Participation in Exercise Program)

  • Purpose : This study is to investigate difference in the isometric muscular function of knee joints according to the time of participation in rehabilitation exercise in patients who had anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Methods : The subjects of this study were patients by sports injury or accident in the sports rehabilitation center of G hospital. The early exercise program group (n=7) started functional ability exercise from 2 weeks after the surgery and the late exercise program group (n=7) from 6 weeks after the surgery. Statistical analysis was used repeated measure ANOVA to test mean difference by using SPSS 18.0 for windows. Results : First, as to quadriceps femoris muscle according to the time of participation in exercise program, significant difference was observed according to interaction and time. Second, as to hamstring muscle according to the time of participation in exercise program, significant difference was observed in muscle strength according to time. Conclusion : This results suggest that if the effect of exercise program is similar between the early starting group and the late starting group, it is not necessary to have a long period of fixation as in the late exercise program group but is desirable to start functional ability exercise early in order to relieve pains in the knee joints.

  • The aprE2 gene from Bacillus subtilis CH3-5 was expressed in Bacillus licheniformis ATCC 10716 using a Bacillus-Escherichai coli shuttle vector, pHY300PLK. The fibrinolytic activity of transformant (TF) increased significantly compared to B. licheniformis 10716 control cell. During the 100 hr incubation in Luria-Bertaini broth at $37^{\circ}C$, fibrinolytic activity of B. licheniformis TF increased rapidly at the late growth stage, after 52 hr of incubation, which was confirmed by zymography using a fibrin gel. pHY3-5 was stably maintained in B. licheniformis without tetracycline (Tc) in the media, 60.9% of cells still maintained pHY3-5 after 100 hr of cultivation.

'튼튼하고 안전한 다리 설계' 문제중심학습(PBL) 프로그램이 고등학교 과학영재의 과학적 태도, 과학 진로지향도 및 리더십에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of a Problem-Based Learning Program Titled 'Designing Safe and Strong Bridge' on the Scientific Attitudes, Science Career Orientation, and Leadership of Scientifically Gifted High School Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 '튼튼하고 안전한 다리 설계' 문제중심학습(Problem-Based Learning; PBL) 프로그램이 고등학교 과학영재들의 과학적 태도, 과학 진로지향도 및 리더십에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 알아보는 것이다. 연구 참여자는 3단계의 영재선발 과정을 통해 선발된 경기도 소재 C고등학교 부설 영재학급의 고등학교 2학년 19명이다. PBL 프로그램을 개발하고 14차시에 걸쳐 적용하기 전과 후에 과학적 태도, 과학 진로지향도, 리더십에 대한 검사를 실시하였고, 사후에는 추가로 프로그램에 대한 소감문을 작성하도록 하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, PBL 프로그램을 적용한 후 고등학교 과학영재의 과학적 태도가 통계적으로 유의미하게 향상되었다. 7개 하위영역중 개방성을 제외한 6가지 영역 모두 유의미하게 향상되었다. 둘째, PBL 프로그램을 적용한 후 고등학교 과학영재의 과학 진로지향도가 통계적으로 유의미하게 향상되었다. 과학 진로지향도 4개 하위영역 모두에서 유의미하게 향상되었다. 셋째, PBL 프로그램을 적용한 후 고등학교 과학영재의 리더십 전체 점수가 통계적으로 유의미하게 향상되었다. 리더십의 1차 요인인 개인 내 특성과 개인 외 특성에서도 모두 유의미하게 향상되었다. 학생들의 사후 소감문을 분석한 결과 소그룹으로 PBL 문제해결과정에서 대인관계능력, 타인과 공동체 배려, 과제 책임감, 비전과 자신감 등 2차 요인 전 영역이 고르게 향상되었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Purpose: This study aims to investigate the effects of a peer gatekeeper training program on existential spiritual well-being, interpersonal relationship with friends, and suicide probability for middle school students. Methods: The participants were fifty students who were at a vocational middle school in D city from october 13, 2012 to november 10, 2012. To test the effects of the peer gatekeeper training program, the participants were divided into two groups in the way of matching distribution, an experimental group(24) and a control group(26). Data were analyzed by Chi-square test, t-test, and Fisher exact probability test using the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. Results: After attending the peer gatekeeper training program, significant differences between the experimental group and the control group were found in existential spiritual well-being(t=2.80, p=.007) and interpersonal relationship with friends scores(t=2.67, p=.010). However, there was no statistically significant difference in suicide probability between the two groups. Conclusion: The results indicate that the peer gatekeeper training program enhance existential spiritual well-being and interpersonal relationship with friends of middle school students. Therefore, this program could be a good strategy that teachers and community mental health nurses can use for suicide prevention of middle school students.

행동수정프로그램과 에어로빅 운동의 과체중 여자 중학생 비만관리 효과 비교 (Comparison of Obesity Management Between a Behavior Modification Program and an Aerobic Exercise Program in Overweight Adolescent Girls)

  • This study was done to compare the effects of managing obesity using a behavior modification program and an aerobic exercise in adolescent girls. Thirty three subjects were selected from one girls' middle school located in Seoul. Seventeen girls participated in the behavior modification program by joining 60-90 minute group sessions weekly. The aerobic exercise program was given to 16 girls three times per week for 60 minutes each. These iterventions continued for eight weeks from October 17 to December 10, 1995. The data were obtained before and after the interventions by measuring degree of obesity, body weight, blood pressure, serum lipid, %body fat, and waist to hip ratio(WHR). Data ware analysed by using paired t-test. The results are as follows. 1. Subjects in both the behavior modification and the aerobic exercise groups showed significant decrese in the degree of obesity, body weight, diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, %body fat and fat mass after the 8-week interventions. 2. Systolic bood pressure, high density lipoprotein cholesterol and waist to hip ratio were significantly decreased after the 8-week intervention in the behavior modification program group while triglyceride was significantly decreased after the 8-week intervention in the aerobic exercise program group. These findings indicate that both behavior modification and aerobic exercise programs are good strategies for managing obesity among adolescent girls.

The Effect of 3-Dimensional Posture Correction Exercise Program Incorporating PNF Respiratory Muscle Strengthening Exercise on the Spinal Alignment and the Trunk Expansion in Patients with Idiopathic Scoliosis

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 3-dimensional posture correction(3DPC) exercise program incorporating PNF respiratory muscle strengthening(RMS) exercise on spinal alignment and trunk expansion in patients with idiopathic scoliosis and the difference in intervention effect by type of idiopathic scoliosis. Design: Comparative study using paired t-test and analysis of variance measures. Methods: The subjects of this study were 5 men and 24 women diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis with a Cobb angle greater than 10 degrees and less than 45 degrees. A 3DPC exercise program incorporating PNF RMS exercise was conducted twice a week for 1 hour per session for 6 weeks, and Cobb angle, Angle of trunk rotation, and trunk expansion were measured before and after the intervention. Results: After the intervention, Cobb angle and trunk rotation angle showed a statistically significant decrease, and trunk expansion showed a statistically significant increase. In the effect difference by type, there was a statistically significant difference in the angle of trunk rotation of the thoracic in 3C and Single Lumbar. Conclusions: In conclusion, it is thought that a 3DPC exercise program incorporating PNF RMS exercise can be effectively used in clinical practice to improve spinal alignment and trunk expansion in patients with idiopathic scoliosis.
