While it is an important element of clothing construction, research has so far been very limited on the similarities between virtual and real clothing in terms of the type of neckline. The purpose of this study is to verify the similarity, accuracy of virtualization, and actuality of neckline, which all play an important role in individual impressions and image formation, and require considerable modification when fitting real samples. A total of 5 neckline models were selected through the analysis of dress composition textbooks. The selected designs were then planned and manufactured in muslin. The specimen clothes were then tested on a female model in her 20s. 2 kinds of virtual bodies were created in order to compare the real and the virtual dressing. The first virtual body was made through an Artec 3D Eva scan of the model, and the other was made by entering the model's measurements in a CLO 3D program. A visual image of the front, side, and back image of both the real and virtual dressing were subsequently collected. The collected images were then evaluated by 20 professional fashion workers who checked the similarity between the real and the virtual versions. The current study found that the similarity between the actual and virtual wearing of the five neckline designs with reality appeared higher with the virtual wearing image using the 3D-scanned body. The results of this study could provide further information on the selection of appropriate avatars to clothing companies that check the fit of clothing by utilizing 3D virtualized programs.
The aim of this paper is to examine relationship characteristics and the relevance there of in the context of the Chanel collection, between the contemporary fashion show viewed from the artistic side and intermedia on interaction. This study analyzed the relationship characteristics between intermedia and fashion shows by focusing on Chanel fashion shows from 2010 S/S to 2016 F/W as actual case. The results are as follow: First, participational accessibility indicates the experience of a designer and audience in active participation changing into passive participation. Second, audience immersion is represented by the perception of being involved by the audience in the place and acting. Third, conceptual symbolism is sending of messages through the designer's concept manifesting in the specific features of the design. Finally, expandability of media explains trans-boundaries in experimental attempts. It concludes that fashion show is a space where the audience can have visual as well as new knowledge and experience through multi-sensory channels. The villains in recent films are given interesting roles not only through the actual contents of the story but also by attractive personal characteristics including internal and psychological aspects. The purpose of this paper is to take a deeper look into the image styling process of villain characters. The cases will focus on seven representative Korean films that have attracted over one million audiences as of the year 2000, and the leading and supporting actors within those films. Analysis will be made mainly on the visual image creations of those villains. The visual images are categorized by the make-up, hair-do, clothing and accessories relevant to the psychological personality type of each actor's role and their background based on the given scenarios. The results are as follows: First, villain characters are portrayed as an individual with multiple personalities with regards to psychological, economical, and vocational aspects. Second, fashion trends of the character is an important element to keep pace with the times or to visualize the sense of the times in which the villain exists. Third, a specific point that characterizes the villain's character are expressed through various touches using noticeable accessories, specific colors in make up, hair style, and a certain fashion.
The purpose of the study was to identify the motives of women's appearance-management behavior, and examine how women perceived the appearance -management behavior and pursuit of ideal body image. The depth interview method was managed to five female subjects who had experiences in plastic surgery and obesity treatment. The instance analysis used in this study. The results were as follows : There were four types of women's appearance-management behavior. First, women perceived themselves by using other people's evaluation, and it was the first motive of appearance-management behavior. It shows that appearance is not based on the real self-image but is the evaluated self-image by others. Second, women were willing to suffer the pain in the plastic surgery and obesity treatment by the expectation of appearance improvement. It means the result of reducing the difference between the actual self-figure and the ideal self-image. Third, the sexual discrimination culture had an influence on appearance-management behavior. It seems the sense of male superiority spreaded over the Korean society. Lastly, women improved self-satisfaction and self-esteem through their physical appearance as an alternative method for better life.
This study is intended to develop a fashion styling training program for female international marriage immigrants. To collect basic data for program development, a total of ten female international marriage immigrants living in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, were interviewed on relevant subjects, such as clothing life and their interest in fashion and fashion training programs. According to the interviews, they prefer Korean fashions, have difficulty purchasing and coordinating clothes while living in Korea, and felt that others were staring at them because of their appearance and fashion styles. For the question about interest in fashion, most respondents answered that they have great interest in fashion and managing their appearance. For the question about the need for a training program in fashion styling for female international marriage immigrants, most respondents answered that it is necessary, and most respondents also answered that they would participate in such a program if it were available. The contents of the training program for fashion styling for female international marriage immigrants was composed of the following sections: Understanding of Fashion Styling, Variety of Fashion Styling, and Fashion Styling Practice. The section on the understanding of fashion styling is composed of the concept of fashion styling and the elements of fashion styling. The section on variety in fashion styling is composed of styling based on fashion image, face type, body type, and TPO. The section on fashion styling practice is composed of the practice of fashion styling on an actual person based on the knowledge obtained through the program.
By virtue of the development of mass media, the cinema, the composite space art taking the visual and auditory elements together, exhibits the actual life of the realities, thereby having a mutually close relationship to social, cultural and economic fields and continuing to generate the fashion code as well as reflecting the image of the times. Especially, fashion style in movies delivers their image and atmosphere and becomes the means for containing the personality, spiritual world and inner thinking of the characters in the movie and inducing its plot. Therefore, this study was intended to make clear that fashion fuses and shares with a diversity of genres such as movies and the like, becomes the cultural model that proceeds to create a new culture in relation to daily life and induces and presents the trend of contemporary fashion. For this purpose, this study attempted to analyze fashion style in the movie. Lolita is the fiction published by the Russian?American writer Vladimir Nabokov($1899{\sim}1977$) in 1954. It is the fiction that portrays the unethical love between Humbert, a middleaged man, and Lolita, a girl in her 10s. It was cinematized by the director Stanley Kubrick for the first time in 1962 and revived by the movie director Adrian Lyne in 1997. The character of Lolita has a younger look like a girl and looks immature in the movie directed by the movie director Stanley Kubrick and the movie director Adrian Lyne. But the character of Lolita has the commonality that she showed an incomplete female image of having a sexually freewheeling thinking. Thereby, this study sought to prove that the created fashion style of the character in the film not only became the clue to enable us to know the time and space background in the film but also helped the film develop effectively by performing a role of portraying the character in the movie. And it attempted to present that it becomes both the foundation for leading the fashion trend shown in contemporary fashion and the code of mass culture. Fashion style of Lolita in the movie appears to be reflected diversely in mass culture as well as fashion style in the contemporary times.
The study aims to investigate the effects of media and self-image congruity of ideal body image on the dieting and exercising behaviors of Korean and U.S. female college students. This study focuses on the concept of self-image congruity in order to examine how respondents perceive actual and desired self-images compared to an ideal female body image selected by respondents. A self-administered survey was conducted, resulting in 331 total responses (194 from Korean students and 137 from U.S. students). The data were analyzed through descriptive analysis, t-test, exploratory factor analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS 23.0. The findings revealed significant differences between Korean and U.S. female college students. U.S. students were more exposed to body image ideals in the media than Korean students; however, Korean female students valued the information regarding ideal body image conveyed by the media more than U.S. respondents. Among Korean female students, exposure to media messages regarding ideal body image and media importance had significant effects on desired self-image congruity, while these factors were not significant among U.S. students. However, there was a negative effect of media exposure on actual self-image congruity among U.S. respondents only. Additionally, the study uncovered that Korean students manage their body image through dieting behaviors while U.S. respondents manage body image through exercise behaviors (weight training as well as cardiovascular exercise). The study provides further support for self-image congruity, which extends its applications to the body image field.

The purpose of this study is to show inherent and differentiated beauty by designing costume knitwear using Dancho patterns representing peculiar beauty, thus expressing free and convenient knitwear in the modern sense for women with the image of reasonableness and elegance, proposing knit design using high-class materials for satisfying the demand for the highest. With regard to expression technique of works, I selected computer Jacquard method to indicate effective comparison effect of expression material and made expression with $12{\sim}14$ gauge as base by using computer knitting machine. Through above-mentioned research process and design using Knit CAD system, I obtained following conclusion. First, it is possible to express variously and widely traditional patterns by making the most of the beauty of the orient and by recomposing the patterns of plant patterns representing "feminine image". Second, it is possible to widely represent the sense you can feel from knit by expressing variously diversity of knit structure and Jacquard knitting structure and gauge. Finally, it is possible to express designs more freely and imaginably by using computer Knit CAD system instead of actual knitting of various knit expression technique and materials application.
The purpose of this study was to make new suggestions for the production of high value-added, fashion goods by reviewing and synthesizing the design of dress shirts. (Ed-I've combined paragraphs here) For this study, 1491 photographs on the dress shirts were collected for analysis from men's collection$(2001\sim2006)$. Concerning the actual characteristics of men's fashion design, the following conclusions were obtained from the analysis of the dress shirts of men's collection. (Ed-I've combined paragraphs here) First, feminine ornaments such as frill, pin tuck, and embroidery can be seen in men's dress shirts and men's sexuality has changed into a softer men's image. Second, asymmetry balance using detachability are expressed in the collars, sleeves, and plackets of men's dress shirts. Third, in a very novel suggestion, a combination of two items was designed in a dress shirt and variant shirt forms were created. The purpose of this study is to develop fashion cultural products that contain an example of cultural symbolism, which is based on the results of iconological analysis seen on imaginary animals. The method of research was to derive design ideas through a verbal association method, using the technique of mind map as based on the iconological analysis results. In the scarf design, four auspicious animals were used as the main motifs, and the background elements that appeared with each folk painting were used as sub-motifs for each of the four animals. In this case, the Yong was expressed with an image of clouds and flames as sub-motifs, and was strongly represented by the presence of a contrast color combination. In what follows, the Bonghwang was used with the sun and feathers in a stable structure due to its four-way arrangement, and was expressed with its soft light tone. The Shingoo was used with blue and khaki colors of dull and deep tone, and the image of aquatic plants and lotus were used. Finally, with the Kirin was represented by a symmetrical structure as characterized with a dull toned color and square border that provides a sense of stability. The clutch bags were as generally expressed using simple animal motifs, and were composed of a uniform motif and color. The design process used the Illustrator CS6 to perform motifs design. In the end, the process finally developed the actual product of eight scarves and four clutch handbags.
