For this purpose, 263 college students completed the questionnaires on self-consciousness, academic efficacy and vocational identity. The collected data were analyzed by using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0. As a result, both the private and public self-consciousness had a significant positive correlation with vocational identity and academic efficacy. The private and public self-consciousness had different effects on vocational identity(career exploration, career commitment, and career reconsideration) through academic efficacy. Specifically, the private self-consciousness had a direct effect only on the career reconsideration among the factors of vocational identity. Public self-consciousness was indirectly related career exploration, partially mediated by academic efficacy, whereas the association between public self-consciousness and career commitment was fully mediated by it. Based on these results, implications for career education and counseling in convergence era were discussed and suggestions for further study were included.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influences of coping strategies and vocational self-efficacy on burnout among social workers in long-term care hospitals. Using a convenience sample, researchers collected responses from 138 participants in those long-term care hospitals that have at least 100 sick beds among 528 hospitals(as of September 2015) registered as members of the Korean Association of Geriatric Hospitals. Multiple regression analyses revealed that working hours, externalizing strategies, vocational self-efficacy and group efficacy were significantly correlated with burnout of social workers. In other words, longer working hours led to higher degrees of burnout and higher levels of externalizing strategies, job efficacy, and group efficacy led to lower degrees of burnout in job performance. Based on the study results, it was discussed to relieve the extent of burnout among social workers in long-term care hospitals such as reinforcement of systematic supervision, development of burnout prevention program and on-the job training.

  • Career guidance refers to services intended to assist students to make educational and occupational choices and to manage their careers. Young students, specially enrolled in vocational high schools, need programs to help them make transitions to the working world and to re-engage with further learning, and career guidance needs to be part of such programs. Teachers assume the critical roles in planning and organizing the career guidance programs in vocational high schools. The program includes career information provision, assessment and self-assessment tools, career counseling, work search, etc. In this study, we developed a research model based upon TRA(theory of reasoned action) developed by Ajzen and Fishbein to investigate the factors influencing the intention to provide career guidance services to students in vocational high schools. Based on 155 survey responses from vocational high school teachers, we show that attitude and subjective norm motivate teachers to provide career guidance services, and that attitude toward career guidance is directly influenced by self-efficacy for career guidance and burden from extra work. It was also confirmed that facilitating condition is the antecedent of self-efficacy. But contrary to our expectation, self-efficacy for career guidance has no significant effect on the intention for providing career guidance services at 5% significance level. In light of these findings, implications for theory and practice are discussed.

  • The present study aimed to investigate the mediating effect of outcome expectation on the relationship between the career decision-making self-efficacy and the career planning of career interrupted women. Survey data were collected from 270 career interrupted women. To examine the mediating effect, the hierarchical regression analysis had been done according to the procedure suggested by Baron and Kenny(1986). The results of data analysis were summarized as follow: First, the career decision-making self-efficacy, the outcome expectation, and the career planning scores from the career interrupted women showed positive correlations. Second, the result of the hierarchical regression analysis showed that the outcome expectation partially mediated the relationship between the career decision-making self-efficacy and the career planning of career interrupted women. The current results imply that the level of outcome expectation is important for the career counseling for career interrupted women in practice and future research.
