  • Ipsec is a security protocol suite that provides encryption and authentication services for IP messages at the network layer of the internet. Internet Key Exchange (IKE) is a protocol that is used to negotiate and provide authenticated keying materials in a protected manner for Security Associations (SAs). In this paper, we propose a dynamic key lifetime change algorithm for performance enhancement of virtual private networks using IPSec. The proposed algorithm changes the key lifetime according to the number of secure tunnels. The proposed algorithm is implemented with Linux 2.4.18 and FreeS/WAN 1.99. The system employing our proposed algorithm performs better than the original version in terms of network performance and security.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved image encryption and the shift-tolerance method in the Fourier space using a virtual phase image. The encrypted image is obtained by the Fourier transform of the product of a phase-encoded virtual image, not an original image, and a random phase image. Therefore, even if unauthorized users analyze the encrypted image, we can prevent the possibility of counterfeiting from unauthorized people using virtual image which dose not contain any information from the original image. The decryption technique is simply performed by inverse Fourier transform of the interference pattern between the encrypted image and the Fourier decrypting key, made of proposed phase assignment rule, in frequency domain. We demonstrate the robustness to noise, to data loss and shift of the encrypted image or the Fourier decryption key in the proposed technique.

  • At present, the virtual prototyping technology for complex product is one of the research and application hotspots in current simulation technology. In authors viewpoint, the virtual prototype development for complex product has become a systematic engineering, which can be called the complex product virtual prototyping engineering (CPVPE). In this paper, the architecture, key technologies and its supporting environment of CPVPE are primary discussed firstly. Combined with the research project and primary practice undertaken by the authors, a typical application demonstration of the aerospace complex product virtual prototyping engineering (including mechanism, dynamics, software and control system) is also introduced based on the virtual prototype supporting environment developed by the authors. Finally, some further research works on CPVPE are also presented in this paper.

  • Because of governmental regulations, large-scale discount stores are trying to find a new way that can expand a market size. Homeplus virtual store has received attention from the other companies, because virtual store can access 24 hours and be unfettered by governmental regulations. The purpose of the study is to review performance and strategies of Homeplus virtual store as well as the cause of the failure of imitators. To do this, we can find key indicators of success of virtual store.

  • Computational virtual screening has become an essential platform of drug discovery for the efficient identification of active candidates. Moleculardocking, a key technology of receptor-centric virtual screening, is commonly used to predict the binding affinities of chemical compounds on target receptors. Despite the advancement and extensive application of these methods, substantial improvement is still required to increase their accuracy and time-efficiency. Here, we evaluate several advanced structure-based virtual screening approaches for elucidating the rank-order activity of chemical libraries, and the quantitative structureactivity relationship (QSAR). Our results show that the ensemble-average free energy estimation, including implicit solvation energy terms, significantly improves the hit enrichment of the virtual screening. We also demonstrate that the assignment of quantum mechanical-polarized (QM-polarized) partial charges to docked ligands contributes to the reproduction of the crystal pose of ligands in the docking and scoring procedure.

  • Presented in the paper is a log data based modeling method for effective construction of a virtual plant model which can be used for the virtual PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) simulation. For the PLC simulation, the corresponding virtual plant, consisting of virtual devices, is required to interact with the input and output symbols of a PLC. In other words, the behavior of a virtual device should be the same as that of the real device. Conventionally, the DEVS (Discrete Event Systems Specifications) formalism has been used to represent the behavior a virtual device. The modeling using DEVS formalism, however, requires in-depth knowledge in the simulation area, as well as the significant amount of time and efforts. One of the key ideas of the proposed method is to generate a plant model based on the log data obtained from the production system. The proposed method is very intuitive, and it can be used to generate the full behavior model of a virtual device. The proposed approach was applied to an AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle).

  • With the digitalization of production and consumption environments, consumers are no longer merely targets of marketing, but key players in creating value jointly with companies by participating in various decision-making processes. Much virtual content in particular, such as fashion shows, exhibitions, games, social activities, and shopping, which fashion brands implement in virtual worlds, cannot be completed without consumers' active engagement and interaction. Thus, this study considers consumers' participation in virtual content provided by fashion brands as value co-creation in virtual worlds. This study aims to examine how consumer (i.e., consumer smartness) and fashion firm (i.e., perceived intellectual capital) factors influence value co-creation behavior intention in virtual worlds. Data were collected from 410 consumers in their 20s nationwide through an online survey, and a higher-order structural equation modeling analysis was conducted to test the research model. The results showed that both consumer smartness and perceived intellectual capital positively influenced customer participation behavior and citizenship behavior intentions. Specifically, perceived intellectual capital had a greater impact on value co-creation behavior in the virtual world than consumer smartness. The findings provide empirical evidence that the fashion firms' intangible assets and consumers' competence in the digital shopping environment encourage their intentions to co-create value in virtual worlds.

  • Inspired by the increasing popularity of cosmetic-related mobile application as a tool for instant beautification, the present study examined colors of virtual makeup templates and makeup looks. A survey study was performed by thirty-six respondents to determine the top three desirable virtual makeup templates among nineteen templates. The templates of 'Bella', 'Hilary' and 'Cara' were then analyzed by makeup specialists and color experts for the evaluation of their makeup design and colors. Each color feature of three makeup templates were also evaluated through statistical analysis of ANOVA on the measure of $L^*a^*b^*$ crossed with five types of face elements on three types of virtual makeup images. Overall results indicate that Korean female users in their 20s and 30s preferred a similar makeup concept appeared in makeup template and key worlds. They also preferred a pale skin tone with higher lightness and a slightly higher saturated lip color as an emphasis than other features.

  • Desktop computers, which were the main means of Internet use and information activity, were pushed out by smart devices that emphasized mobility and simplicity. The recent information production and consumption activities are performed through smart devices, but there is no input device for smart devices that can fully replace traditional input devices such as full-size PC compatible keyboards. Because of the small size of the virtual keyboard that uses the touch screen of the smart device, typographical error occurs at a high rate. In this paper, we propose a variable virtual keyboard that minimizes the typographical errors of the conventional virtual keyboards. The proposed method minimizes the user 's input error by adjusting the size of each key of the virtual keyboard based on accumulated dataset of position and pressure of the user' s input error even though there is no difference in the key position arrangement of the conventional virtual keyboards.
