Application Analysis of Vitex rotundifolia by Difference of the Shallow-Extensive Green Roof System (저관리 옥상녹화의 식재기반 시스템 차이에 따른 순비기나무의 활용성 평가)

  • The objectives of this study were to compare the growth of Vitex rotundifolia as affected by the difference of soil depth and mixture ratio in a shallow-extensive green roof module system, and to identify the level of soil thickness and mixture ratio as suitable growing condition to achieve the desired plant growth in green roof. Different soil thickness levels were achieved under 7cm, 15cm and 25cm of shallow-extensive green roof module systems made by woody frame of $500{\times}500{\times}300mm$. Soil mixture ratio were eight types for perlite : peatmoss : leafmold = 7 : 1 : 2 (v/v/v, $P_7P_1L_2$), perlite : peatmoss : leafmold = 6 : 2 : 2 (v/v/v, $P_6P_2L_2$), perlite : peatmoss : leafmold = 5 : 3 : 2 (v/v/v, $P_5P_3L_2$), perlite : peatmoss : leafmold = 4 : 4 : 2 (v/v/v, $P_4P_4L_2$), only sand ($S_{10}$), sand : leafmold = 7 : 3 (v/v, $S_7L_3$), sand : leafmold = 5 : 5 (v/v, $S_5L_5$) and only leafmold ($L_{10}$). The growth response of Vitex rotundifolia had fine and sustain condition in $P_6P_2L_2$, $P_5P_3L_2$ and $P_4P_4L_2$., Especially, in case of $P_6P_2L_2$, growth response appeared to be good even in soil thickness 7cm, which showed low survival rates of Vitex rotundifolia in other soil mixtures. Tree height, root diameter, photosynthesis and chlorophyll contents tended to increase with increased soil thickness.

  • For simple undirected graph G=(V,E), L(2,1)-coloring of G is a nonnegative real-valued function f : V → [0,1,…,k] such that whenever vertices x and y are adjacent in G then |f(x)-f(y)|≥ 2 and whenever the distance between x and y is 2, |f(x)-f(y)|≥ 1. For a given L(2,1)-coloring c of graph G, the c-span is λ(c) = max{|c(v)-c(v)||u,v∈V}. L(2,1)-coloring number λ(G) = min{λ(c)} where the minimum is taken over all L(2,1)-coloring c of graph G. In this paper, based on Harary's Theorem, we use Tabu Search to figure out the existence of Hamiltonian Path in a complementary graph and confirmed that if λ(G) is equal to n(=|V|).

  • This paper suggests the optimal blood distribution center algorithm that satisfies the minimum total transportation cost and within the allowable distribution time $T^*$. Zhang and Yang proposes shifting the location of each point that has less than the average distance of two maximum distance points from each point. But they cannot decide the correct facility location because they miscompute the shortest distance. This algorithm computes the shortest distance $l_{ij}$ from one area to another areas. Then we select the $v_i$ area to thecandidate distribution center location such that $_{max}l_{ij}{\leq}L^*$ and the $v_i$ such that $l_{ij}-L^*$ area that locates in ($v_i,v_k$) and ($v_j,v_l$) from $P_{ij}=v_i,v_k,{\cdots},v_l,v_j$ path and satisfies the $_{max}l_{ij}{\leq}L^*$ condition. Finally, we decide the candidate distribution area that has minimum transportation cost to optimal distribution area.

Study on Sensory Papillae of Metagonimus yokogawai Cercaria (Metagonimus yokogawai 세르카리아의 감각유두에 관한 연구)

  • A number of studies on the papillae of cercariae of trematodes reported that the papillar patterns (or chaetotaxy) of cercariae might be an excellent method to attain better understanding of the digenetic trematodes (Richard, 1971 ; Short and Cartrett, 1973; Bayssade-Dufour, 1979) . The present study was aimed to determine the number, distribution pattern and structure of the sensory papillae of Metagonimus yokogawai cercariae, and to elucidate the chaetotaxy of this digenetic trematode. M. yokogawai cercariae were pipetted from a vial in which infected snails (Semisulcospira libertina) had been kept for 3 hours. The snails were collected from an endemic area of M. yokogawai, Boseong river in west-southern part of Korea. Observations of papillae were based on light microscopy of those stained with silver nitrate, and on scanning electron microscopy The results are summarized as follows: 1, All papillae observed were uniciliated. 2. Cilia in anterior tip were shorter than the others in other portions. 3. The body papillae were arranged in essentially symmetrical patterns, Total number of the papillae was 126(63 pairs) in average; anterior tip 40(20 pairs), ventral 20(10 pairs), lateral 42(21 pairs), and caudal 8(4 pairs). 4. The chaetotany of M. yokogawai cercaria was: Ci cycle ($3+3C_{I}V,{\;}2+2C_{I}L,{\;}2+3C_{I}D),{\;}C_{II}{\;}cycle(2C_{II}V,{\;}1C_{II}L,{\;}2C_{II}D),{\;}C_{lll}{\;}cycle{\;}(1+lC_{III}V,{\;}1C_{IlI}L),{\;}C_{IV}{\;}cycle{\;}(1C_{IV}V,{\;}IC_{lV}L){\;}in{\;}cephalic{\;}region:{\;}A_I(1A_{IV}V,{\;}1+2A_{I}L,{\;}1A_{I}D),{\;}A_{II}(1A_{II}V,{\;}1+3A_{II}L,{\;}1A_{II}D),{\;}A_{III}(1A_{III}V,{\;}1+1A_{III}L,{\;}1A_{III}D){\;}and{\;}A_{IV}(1A_{IV}V,{\;}2A_{IV}L)$ in antacetabular region: $1M_{I}V{\;}and{\;}2M_{I}L$ in median: $1+1P_{I}L,{\;}1P_{II}L,{\;}1P_{II}D,{\;}1P_{III}L,{\;}1P_{IV}L{\;}and{\;}1P_{IV}D$ in postacetabular region: 2-2-2-2 in caudal region.

Development of a Rapid Enrichment Broth for Vibrio parahaemolyticus Using a Predictive Model of Microbial Growth with Response Surface Analysis (미생물 생장 예측모델과 반응표면분석법을 이용한 Vibrio parahaemolyticus의 신속 증균배지 개발)

  • In this study, we developed Rapid Enrichment Broth for Vibrio parahaemolyticus (REB-V), a broth capable enriching V. parahaemolyticus from 100 CFU/mL to 106 CFU/mL within 6 hours, which greatly facilitates the rapid detection of V. parahaemolyticus. Using a modified Gompertz model and response surface methodology, we optimized supplement sources to rapidly enrich V. parahaemolyticus. The addition of 0.003 g/10 mL of D-(+)-mannose, 0.002 g/10 mL of L-valine, and 0.002 g/10 mL of magnesium sulfate to 2% (w/v) NaCl BPW was the most effective combination of V. parahaemolyticus enrichment. Optimal V. parahaemolyticus culture conditions using REB-V were at pH 7.84 and 37℃. To confirm REB-V culture efficiency compared to 2% (w/v) NaCl BPW, we assessed the amount of enrichment achieved in 7 hours in each medium and extracted DNA samples from each culture every hour. Real-time PCR was performed using the extracted DNA to verify the applicability of this REB-V culture method to molecular diagnosis. V. parahaemolyticus was enriched to 5.452±0.151 Log CFU/mL in 2% (w/v) NaCl BPW in 7 hours, while in REB-V, it reached 7.831±0.323 Log CFU/mL. This confirmed that REB-V enriched V. parahaemolyticus to more than 106 CFU/mL within 6 hours. The enrichment rate of REB-V was faster than that of 2% (w/v) NaCl BPW, and the amount of enrichment within the same time was greater than that of 2% (w/v) NaCl BPW, indicating that REB-V exhibits excellent enrichment efficiency.

  • The article provides information on type specimens of 150 taxa of vascular plants from Korea, kept in the Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. For all specimens, type category is indicated. Lectotypes for the names of Clematis brachyura Maxim., C. spectabilis Palib., Corydalis wilfordii Regel, Poa viridula Palib., Polygonum marretii H. L$\acute{e}$v., P. sagittatum L. var. hallaisanense H. L$\acute{e}$v., P. taquetii H. L$\acute{e}$v. and P. thunbergii Sieb. et Zucc. var. coreana H. L$\acute{e}$v. were designated. Type specimens examined in this article belong to the taxa described by Russian botanists V.L. Komarov, K.J. Maximovicz and I.V. Palibin, French botanist A.A.H. L$\acute{e}$veill$\acute{e}$ (some with co-author E. Vaniot) and others.

  • C- V method is a means to determine the effective channel length for miniaturized MOSFET's. This method achieves L$_{eff}$ by extracting a unique channel length independent extrinsic overlap length($\Delta$L) at a critical gate bias point. In this paper, we conducted an experiment on two different C-V methods. L$_{eff}$ extracted from experiment is compared with L$_{eff}$ simulated from a two-dimensional (2-D) device simulator, and the accuracy of C-V method for L$_{eff}$ extraction is analyzed.

Enfluence of Herbal Extract on Lactic Acid Bacteria Growth and Cryoprotectants (생약 추출물이 유산균의 생육 및 동결건조 보호제로서의 효과)

  • Extract of Eleutherococcus senticosus, Lycium chinensis, Angelica acutiloba and Schizandra chinensis were investigated to determine whether its addition may inflict on growth of lactic acid bacteria, freeze dry and cell viability during the storage. In cultivation with herbal extract, all strains tested did not demonstrate a significant reduction in their cell population, particularly Lactobacillus. acidophilus, L. bulgaricus, L. paracasei. But Schizandra chinensis extract inhibited growth of several strains. Immediately after freeze-drying using the skim milk 10%(w/v), sucrose 5%(w/v) with herbal extract 2.5%(v/v), the percentage viability was about 81.7%, 63.8%, 73.2%, 78.1 % in L. acidophilus, L. bulgaricus, L. paracasei, L. casei respectively. The protective effect of herbal extract to cell damage from freeze-drying was weak in comparison with control. During accelerated storage of freeze-dried lactic acid bacteria, those survival rate decrease rapidly, reaching 8 -18% in one month. But addition of Eleutherococcus senticosus extract in freeze dry of L. acidophilus showed a positive activity in storage.

Separation Characteristics of Barium Ion in Water Using Capacitive Deionization (CDI) Process (축전식탈염(CDI) 공정을 이용한 수용액 중 바륨 이온 분리 특성 연구)

  • We studied the removal of barium ions that may be contained in industrial wastewater using the existing capacitive deionization (CDI). The 30 mg/L BaCl2 (barium chloride dihydrate) solution was used as the feed solution, and the flow rate was set to 10 mL/min. The adsorption conditions were varied from 1.2 V to 3, 5 and 7 min, and the desorption conditions were -1, -1.5, -2 V and 1, 2 and 3 min, respectively, to select the most efficient conditions. As a result, barium ion removal efficiency of 64.4% was obtained under the adsorption conditions of adsorption of 1.2 V/7 min and the desorption -1 V/1 min. For the desorption voltages and time, under the same experimental conditions, the removal efficiency of CDI for 30 mg/L NaCl aqueous solution with the same concentration as barium showed 69.9% removal efficiency under the adsorption conditions of and the desorption conditions of 1.2 V/7 min desorption -1 V/1 min, respectively.

  • The Mo(V) $di-{\mu}-oxo$ type [$Mo_{2}O_{4}(H_{2}O)_{2}L_{2}$] $SO_{4}$ complexes(L: 2,2'-dipyridyl,4,4'-ethylenedianlline) have been prepared by the reaction of $[Mo_{2}O_{4}(H_{2}O)_{6}]SO_{4}$ with a series of chelate ligands. These complexes are completed by two terminal oxygens arranged trans to one another and each ligand forms a chelate types. In $Mo_{2}O_{4}(H_{2}O)_{2}L_{2}$, two $H_{2}O$ coordinated at trans site of terminal oxygens. The prepared complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, $^{1}H$ nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, and thermal analysis(TG-DTA). In the potential range -0.00V to -1.00V at a scan rate of $50mVs^{-1}$, a cathodic peak at -0.81V ${\sim}$ -0.87V (vs SCE) and an anodic peak at -0.61V ${\sim}$ -0.63V (vs SCE) have been observed in aquous solution. We infer these redox are irreversible reaction.
