In this paper, a vision-based robust controller for tracking the desired trajectory a robot manipulator is proposed. The trajectory is generated to move the feature point into the desired position which the robot follows to reach to the desired position. To compensate the parametric uncertainties of the robot manipulator which contain in the control input, the robust controller is proposed. In addition, if there are uncertainties in the Jacobian, to compensate it, a vision-based robust controller which has control input is proposed as well in this paper. The stability of the closed-loop system is shown by Lyapunov method. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by simulations and experiments on a two degree of freedom 5-link robot manipulators.

This paper deals with model reference adaptive system (MRAS) speed estimators based on a secondary flux for linear induction motors (LIMs). The operation of these estimators significantly depends on an adaptation mechanism. Fixed-gain PI controller is the most common adaptation mechanism that may fail to estimate the speed correctly in different conditions, such as variation in machine parameters and noisy environment. Two adaptation mechanisms are proposed to improve LIM drive system performance, particularly at very low speed. The first adaptation mechanism is based on fuzzy theory, and the second is obtained from an LIM mechanical model. Compared with a conventional PI controller, the proposed adaptation mechanisms have low sensitivity to both variations of machine parameters and noise. The optimum parameters of adaptation mechanisms are tuned using an offline method through chaotic optimization algorithm (COA) because no design criterion is given to provide these values. The efficiency of MRAS speed estimator is validated by both numerical simulation and real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) implementations. Results indicate that the proposed adaptation mechanisms improve performance of MRAS speed estimator.

This paper proposes two control strategies for the bidirectional Z-source inverters (BZSI) supplied by batteries for electric vehicle applications. The first control strategy utilizes the indirect field-oriented control (IFOC) method to control the induction motor speed. The proposed speed control strategy is able to control the motor speed from zero to the rated speed with the rated load torque in both motoring and regenerative braking modes. The IFOC is based on PWM voltage modulation with voltage decoupling compensation to insert the shoot-through state into the switching signals using the simple boost shoot-through control method. The parameters of the four PI controllers in the IFOC technique are designed based on the required dynamic specifications. The second control strategy uses a proportional plus resonance (PR) controller in the synchronous reference frame to control the AC current for connecting the BZSI to the grid during the battery charging/discharging mode. In both control strategies, a dual loop controller is proposed to control the capacitor voltage of the BZSI. This controller is designed based on a small signal model of the BZSI using a bode diagram. MATLAB simulations and experimental results verify the validity of the proposed control strategies during motoring, regenerative braking and grid connection operations.

This paper presents system modeling, modified space vector PWM implementation and design of a closed loop controller of the Z-source inverter which consists of L and C components and shoot-through zero vectors for DGS. Zero vector periods of SVPWM utilized to boost DC-link voltage instead of conventional DC/DC converter and transformer. Only two shoot-through vut(nn are used for DC link voltage control during one switching period without loss of non-zero vectors. Discrete time sliding mode controller, robust servomechanism controller are designed to realize fast and no-overshoot current response and a steady state voltage error. Simulation results are shows the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, the authors propose a new approach to control problem of the marine vessels which are moored or controlled by actuators. The vessel control problem in the specified area is called a DPS (Dynamic Positioning System). The main objective of this paper is to obtain more useful control design method for DPS. In this problem, a complicate fact is control allocation which is a numerical method for distributing the control signal to the controlled system. For this, many results have been given and verified by other researchers using two individual processes. It means that the controller design and control allocation design process are carried out individually. In this paper, the authors give more sophisticated design solution on this issue. In which the controller design and control allocation problem are unified by a robust controller design problem. In other word, the stability of the closed-loop system, control performance and allocation problem are unified by an LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality) constraint based on $H_2/H_{\infty}$ mixed design framework. The usefulness of proposed approach is verified by simulation with a supply vessel model and found works well.
This study proposed new method to decide the reference model necessary for design PID controller. In generally, control design problems using the reference model have the following two factors. One factor is that numerical model of the controlled system can be obtained extremely, and the other is that specification for the closed-loop dynamic performance is pure moderate. Therefore, the control design procedure is essentially based on the partial reference model matching which offers a reasonable method to simplify the design and the controller configuration under the controlled system uncertainty. ITAE(Integral of time-multiplied absolute error) performance index and Kitamori method etc. which were used a reference model method had a limit to settling time and rising time of reference model that it arrived to steady state response according to the controlled system. On this study, if it only knew peak time of overshoot and settling time by measurement signal of the controlled system, it can be made the reference model easily. We proposed new method to improve performance index of the reference model superior to existing reference model index and illustrate the numerical simulation results to show the effectiveness of proposed control method design.

An integrated structure and controller design approach for rotating cantilever beam is presented. An optimization method is developed for improving positioning performance considering the elastic deformations during high speed rotation and adopting the beam shape and the control gains as design variables. For this end, a dynamic model is setup by the finite element method according to the shape of the beam. The mass and stiffness of the beam are distributed in such a way that the closed-loop poles of the control system should be located leftmost in the complex s-plane. For optimization method, the simulated annealing method is employed which has higher probability to find the global minimum than the gradient-based down-hill methods. Sequential design and simultaneous design methods are proposed to obtain the optimal shape and controller. Simulations are performed with new designs by the two methods to verify the effectiveness of the approach and the results show that the settling time is improved for point-to-point position controls.

The problem considered in this paper is that the tip position of a flexible cantilever beam is controlled to follow a command signal, using a pair of piezoelectric actuators at the clamped end. The beam is lightly damped and so the natural transient response is rather long, and also since the sensor and actuator are not collocated, the plant response is non-minimum phase. Two control strategies were investigated. The first involved conventional PID control in which the feedback gains were adjusted to give the fastest closed-loop response to a step input. The second control strategy was based on an internal model control (IMC) architecture. The control filter in the IMC controller was a digital FIR device designed to minimize the expectation of the mean square tracking error. The IMC controller designed fur the beam was found to have very much reduced settling times to a step input compared with those of the PID controller.
This paper presents a novel power control strategy for PWM current-source rectifiers (CSRs) in the stationary frame based on the instantaneous power theory. In the proposed control strategy, a virtual resistance based on the capacitor voltage feedback is used to realize the active damping. In addition, the proportional resonant (PR) controller under the two-phase stationary coordinate is designed to track the ac reference current and to avoid the strong coupling brought about by the coordinate transformation. The limitations on improving steady-state performance of the PR controller is investigated and mitigated using a cascaded lead-lag compensator. In the z-domain, a straightforward procedure is developed to analyze and design the control-loop with the help of MATLAB/SISO software tools. In addition, robustness against parameter variations is analyzed. Finally, simulation and experimental results verify the proposed control scheme and design method.

In this paper, the analytical tuning rules of the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller have been derived for a broad class of stable, integrating, and unstable processes without time delay. On the basis of the renowned internal model control (IMC) design principles and the two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) control structure, the proposed method can be effectively used for obtaining the enhanced performances of both the disturbance rejection as well as the set-point tracking problems, since the design scheme is simple, straightforward, and can be easily implemented in the process industry. Several processes without time delay are employed to demonstrate the improved closed-loop performance of the proposed controller design in compared with the other well-known design methods in terms of the same degree of robustness.
