  • Let M be a semi-invariant submanifold with almost contact metric structure (𝜙, 𝜉, 𝜂, g) of codimension 3 in a complex space form Mn+1(c) for c ≠ 0. We denote by S and R𝜉 be the Ricci tensor of M and the structure Jacobi operator in the direction of the structure vector 𝜉, respectively. Suppose that the third fundamental form t satisfies dt(X, Y) = 2𝜃g(𝜙X, Y) for a certain scalar 𝜃 ≠ 2c and any vector fields X and Y on M. In this paper, we prove that if it satisfies R𝜉𝜙 = 𝜙R𝜉 and at the same time S𝜉 = g(S𝜉, 𝜉)𝜉, then M is a real hypersurface in Mn(c) (⊂ Mn+1(c)) provided that $\bar{r}-2(n-1)c{\leq}0$, where $\bar{r}$ denotes the scalar curvature of M.

  • We investigate F-traceless component of the conformal curvature tensor defined by (3.6) in $K\ddot{a}hler$ manifolds of dimension ${\geq}4$, and show that the F-traceless component is invariant under concircular change. In particular, we determine $K\ddot{a}hler$ manifolds with parallel F-traceless component and improve some theorems, provided in the previous paper([2]), which are concerned with the traceless component of the conformal curvature tensor and the spectrum of the Laplacian acting on $p(0{\leq}p{\leq}2)$-forms on the manifold by using the F-traceless component.

  • In the present paper, we introduce the notions of quaternionically planar curves and quaternionically projective transformations to the case of almost quaternionic manifold with symmetric affine connection. Also, we obtain an invariant tensor field under the quaternionically projective transformation, and show that a quaternionic Kahlerian manifold with such a vanishing tensor field is of constant Q-sectional curvature.

  • In this paper we consider the notion of ξ-invariant or (equation omitted)-invariant real hypersurfaces in a complex two-plane Grassmannian $G_2$( $C^{m+2}$) and prove that there do not exist such kinds of real hypersurfaces in $G_2$( $C^{m+2}$) with parallel second fundamental tensor on a distribution ζ defined by ζ = ξ U(equation omitted), where(equation omitted) = Span {ξ$_1$, ξ$_2$, ξ$_3$}.X>}.

  • Let G be a compact connected semisimple Lie group, B the Killing form of the algebra g of G, and g the invariant metric induced by B. Then, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for a left invariant linear connection D with a Weyl structure ($D,\;g,\;{\omega}$) on (G, g) to be projectively flat (resp. Einstein-Weyl). And, we also get that if a left invariant linear connection D with a Weyl structure ($D,\;g,\;{\omega}$) on (G, g) which has symmetric Ricci tensor $Ric^D$ is projectively flat, then the connection D is Einstein-Weyl; but the converse is not true. Moreover, we show that if a left invariant connection D with Weyl structure ($D,\;g,\;{\omega}$) on (G, g) is projectively flat (resp. Einstein-Weyl), then D is a Yang-Mills connection.

  • Characterization of discontinuous media is an endeavor that poses great challenge to engineers in practice. Since the inherent defects in cracked domains can substantially influence material resistance and govern its behavior, a lot of work is dedicated to efficiently model such effects. In order to overcome difficulties of material instability problems, one needs to comprehensively represent the geometry of cracks along with their impact on the mechanical properties of the intact material. In the present study, stress-strain results from laboratory experiments on Inada granite was used to derive crack tensor as a tool for the evaluation of fractured domain stability. It was found that the formulations proposed earlier could satisfactorily be employed to attain crack tensor via the invariants of which judgment on cracks population and induced anisotropy is possible. The earlier criteria based on crack tensor analyses were reviewed and compared to the results of the current study. It is concluded that the geometrical parameters calculated using mechanical properties could confidently be used to judge the anisotropy as well as strength of the cracked domain.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study a Kenmotsu manifold which is derived from the almost contact Riemannian manifold with some special conditions. In general, we have some relations about semi-symmetric, Ricci semi-symmetric or Weyl semisymmetric conditions in Riemannian manifolds. In this paper, we partially classify the Kenmotsu manifold and consider the manifold admitting a transformation which keeps Riemannian curvature tensor and Ricci tensor invariant.

  • In this paper, we shall prove several results concerning Ricci curvature of a Riemannian manifold (M, g) := (SU(2), g) with an arbitrary given left invariant metric g. First of all, we obtain the maximum (resp. minimum) of {r(X) := Ric(X,X) | ${||X||}_g$ = 1,X ${\in}$ X(M)}, where Ric is the Ricci tensor field on (M, g), and then get a necessary and sufficient condition for the Levi-Civita connection ${\nabla}$ on the manifold (M, g) to be projectively flat. Furthermore, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the Ricci curvature r(X) to be always positive (resp. negative), independently of the choice of unit vector field X.
