The Protection methods of Telecommunication Network from Electrical Transient Phenomena (전기적 과도현상으로부터 통신망의 보호대책)

  • Parallel and cross of the electrical power and telecommunication network is become accelerated, because telecommunication equipments are constructed according to road for efficient maintenance of domestic telecommunication network. The electrical power network can generate an electrostatic induction, and is itself transmission medium from electrical transient phenomenon such as lighting. So, transient phenomenon of lightning surge is induced to telecommunication network, and then it is damaged by connecting between electrical ground of electrical power network and telecommunication network. In this study, we found that cut-off of return path current by separate distance between electrical ground of electrical power network and telecommunication network, and cut-off of electrostatic induction voltage by grounding unused leads of both terminals of the electrical and telecommunication network have good effect as the protection methods of telecommunications network from electrical transient phenomena.

  • Broadcast-telecommunication bundling services provide customized services and reduce household telecommunication costs, contributing to the improvement of users' welfare. However, following the recent fierce competition of broadcast-telecommunication providers, the Korea Communications Commission, an organization that regulates promotional gifts and fee-reduction benefits to attract subscribers, has imposed a series of regulations. The excessive offering of promotional gifts can distort fair market competition and damage users. Yet if all bundling services are regulated uniformly, some benefits for users may be reduced, and the autonomous marketing competition of service providers may be restricted, thereby shrinking the entire communications market. Therefore, this study attempts to investigate domestic and foreign regulations on promotional gifts and other offerings related to broadcast-telecommunication bundling services, to analyze problems with respect to the current regulations and to propose an improvement plan. The study asserts that it is necessary to improve the violation decision criteria of the Korea Communications Commission and its regulations on broadcast-telecommunication service providers' promotional gifts in order to regulate the bundling services reasonably. In addition, it proposes a proper regulation of the OTS(Olleh TV Skylife) product, a new service emerging in the evolution of the bundling service type.

  • As the scale of telecommunication market extremely increases, the competition to attract consumers is being intensive among telecommunication companies. Domestic telecommunication companies try to attract consumers by better quality and service to enhance satisfaction. The scientific research to evaluate satisfaction factors and total contentment about telecommunication companies is necessary for enhancing competitiveness and added value. In this paper, we study and analyze the way to estimate the satisfaction by AHP and statistical method. Consumers will receive good quality products and service by using suggested method. Additionally, domestic telecommunication expects to ensure competitiveness globally.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose useful suggestions by explore the effects of the Mobile Telecommunication service quality on customer satisfaction and Customer Loyalty (Focus on Moderation effect of switching barrier) in Korea Mobile Telecommunication industry. Methods: After reviewing the literature, the structural eqation modeling(SEM) conducted by LISREL 8.53 test the research model. The data was collected from subscriber of mobile telecommunication service by the questionare in Korea. Results: The results of SEM show that Mobile Telecommunication Service Quality have a positive effect on customer satisfaction, and customer satisfaction also have a positive effect on customer loyalty. And switching barrier have a moderation effect between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Conclusion: Mobile Telecommunication Service Quality is highly related to Customer Satisfation and Customer Loyalty, so Mobile Telecomunication Company should improve Service Quality especially price-related service quality and process/ human- related service quality. And the company need to get higher the positive Switching Barriers in order to improve Customer Loyalty.

Two-step Holographic Imaging Method based on Single-pixel Compressive Imaging

  • We propose an experimental holographic imaging scheme combining compressive sensing (CS) theory with digital holography in phase-shifting conditions. We use the Mach-Zehnder interferometer for hologram formation, and apply the compressive sensing (CS) approach to the holography acquisition process. Through projecting the hologram pattern into a digital micro-mirror device (DMD), finally we will acquire the compressive sensing measurements using a photodiode. After receiving the data of two holograms via conventional communication channel, we reconstruct the original object using certain signal recovery algorithms of CS theory and hologram reconstruction techniques, which demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • Now society has been extending to ubiquitous information society under the information telecommunication facilities. So it is importance to install and design those for the core business. If there is a serious problem on the information telecommunication infra-facility, it could be seriously effected to the life of the people and the national economy. To prevent the those problems, information telecommunication infra-facilities have been installed/supervised due to the proper telecommunication specialists. In this paper, firstly invested the current supervision system and then proposed how to upgrade information telecommunication services through the proposed supervision system for the telecommunication infra-facilities.

  • Domestic telecommunication companies have increased in marketing expenditures and capital investments in their plants and equipments. Their expectation for their investment sometimes results in the shrinking of their ARPUs(average revenues per user) as well as decreasing of net profits. Those financial efforts have not always been positive relation with their ARPUs. Since western and european telecommunication industry recently have similar situation with our market where their mobile and network users have been saturated so that no more increased users are estimated. Therefore, this paper aims for first to explore methods maximizing the investments efficiency for the telecommunication company so that we choose bechmarked telecommmunication companies to explore their investment managing situation with resepct to their marketing and capital expenditure. Secondly this paper tried to suggest several public policy guidelines for domestic telecommunication industry. Total seventeen foreign telecommunication companies were selected and data set through official IR as well as AR were chosen. Curvilinear logarithmic regression analysis were tested to obtain elasticities as well as marginal effects. As a result, overspending on the marketing investment showed more negative indicators to their revenues, on the other hand, more investment in the Capex such as network infrastructures and other service facilities were more likely related to positive revenues.

Investigation of Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting for Mn-Doped In2O3 Film

  • Undoped and Mn-doped $In_2O_3$ films were prepared by radiofrequency magnetron sputtering technique. The effects of Mn doping on the structural and optical properties of as-prepared films were investigated using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Mn doping can enhance the intensity of (222) peak in Mn-doped $In_2O_3$ thin film, indicating Mn dopant promotes preferred orientation of crystal growth along (222) plane. XPS analyses revealed that the doped Mn ions exist at + 2 oxidation states, substituting for the $In^{3+}$ sites in the $In_2O_3$ lattice. UV-Vis measurements show that the optical band gap $E_g$ decreases from 3.33 to 2.87 eV with Mn doping in $In_2O_3$, implying an increasing sp-d exchange interaction in the film. Our work demonstrates a practical means to manipulate the band gap energy of $In_2O_3$ thin film via Mn impurity doping, and significantly improves the photoelectrochemical activity.

  • This paper gives reviews on current research status in telecommunication network design. Two problems are identified as major research issues. One is the WDM network design problem, where traffic grooming, virtual topology design and routing and wavelength assignment problems are considered. The other is the OSPF weight setting problem which was proposed as a practical method to implement traffic engineering capability in IP networks. After presenting surveys on those problems, we discuss potential challenging research issues in telecommunication network design.

  • In this study, we estimate the multi-service cost function of Korea Telecom in order to characterize the cost structure of the telecommunication industry in Korea. By examining the cost function of Korea Telecom, we show that telecommunication costs of Korea Telecom are subadditive. Therefore, we conclude that a natural monopoly exists in the telecommunication industry in Korea.
