The purpose of this study is to suggest the integrated entrepreneurial competency models that reflect critical entrepreneurial competencies that entrepreneurs should have at different stages, thereby enhancing the success rate of ventures. To accomplish the purpose, this study developed the hypotheses about the positive effects of entrepreneurial competencies on business performance, and the moderating effect of learning competency to strengthen the relationship between entrepreneurial competencies and business performance. The results of this study are as follows. First, the technological functional competency of entrepreneurial teams, the resource utilization and business planning competency of entrepreneurs in the early stage of business development were found to significantly affect both non-financial and technological performance. The opportunity recognition competency has a significantly positive effect on non-financial performance. In addition, it is analyzed that learning competency significantly moderated the relationship between entrepreneurial competencies(technological functional, resource utilization) and non-financial performance. The moderating effect of learning competency between business planning competency and technological performance was also found to be significant. Second, leadership and resource acquisition competency of entrepreneurs in the late stage of ventures have significantly positive effects on both non-financial and technological performance. The strategic competency has a significantly positive effect on non-financial performance. It was also found that the moderating effect of learning competency between strategic competency and non-financial performance was significant. Finally, the results show that both non-financial and technical performance of NTBVs are significant determinants of financial performance.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting cooperation between industry and public research institutes, in addition to the effects of cooperation between them; on technological and economic performance of firms. Based on existing research relating to the factors affecting industry-university-research institutes cooperation and the relationship between them and firm performance, this study selected the competence of government-funded research institutes, R&D capabilities and organizational characteristics of firms, and support of government and local governments; as factors influencing cooperation between industry and public research institutes. This study sets seven hypotheses on the relationship between the factors promoting industry-public research institute cooperation, technological performance and economic performance. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data for hypothesis testing and 116 questionnaires were completed and used in this research. The PLS-MGA was used as a method for hypothesis testing. In the analysis results, we found that the competence of government-funded research institutes, organizational characteristics of firms, and the support of government and local governments have a positive impact on cooperation between industry and public research institutes. We also found that the collaboration between industry and public research institutes, positively affects firms' technological performance. In addition, we found that the technological performance of a firm, positively affects a firms' economic performance. On the other hand, firms' R&D capabilities have no significant effect on cooperation between industry and public research institutes, and industry-public research institute cooperation does not directly affect the economic performance of firms.

By utilizing the TPCK model, this research analyzed the present state of pre-service elementary teachers' competencies related to the use of technology. It also conducted the Importance-Performance Analysis to prioritize remedial issues to improve curriculum related to the use of technology. A survey was conducted to 165 pre-service teachers who are senior students at a University. A questionnaire was used to investigate pre-service teachers' perception on the importance and performance related to Technology Knowledge, Technological Pedagogical Knowledge, Technological Content Knowledge and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. As the result of the t-test, significant differences between importance scores and performance scores were found in all the competencies and 17 sub-competencies. In addition, as the results of the importance-performance analysis, 5 sub-competencies were found to be concentrated for the improvement, and 4 sub-competencies were found to be kept up because of their good work. Also 5 sub-competencies were turned out to have low priority, and 3 sub-competencies were turned out to be possible overkill.
Although a wide range of theoretical researches have emphasized on the importance of knowledge management in cooperative R&D network, the empirical researches to synthetically examine the role of organizational learning and open innovation which influence on the performance of technological innovation are not enough to meet academic and practical demands. This study is to investigate the effect of open innovation and organizational learning in venture business on technological competitive advantage and establish the mediating role of organizational learning. For the purpose, the questionnaires, made based on the reviewing previous researches, were collected from 274 Korean venture businesses whose managerial focus is on developing technological innovation. As a result of analysis, the relational dimensions of open innovation - network, intensity and trust shared by a firm with external R&D partners - as well as the internal organizational learning system and competence have positive influence on building technological competitive advantage whose sub-variables are technological excellence, market growth potential and business feasibility. In addition, it is identified that organizational learning has the mediating and moderating effect in the relationship between open innovation and technological competitive advantage. These results imply that open innovation complements and expend the range of limited resources and the scope of innovation in technology-intensive small and medium-sized enterprises. Besides, organizational learning activity reinforces the use of knowledge and resources, obtained from external R&D partners. On the basis of these results, detailed issues and discussion were made in the conclusion.
Purpose: The objective of this research was to investigate how blockchain ventures can optimize their wealth through Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). Drawing upon signal theory, this study examined the impact of technological capabilities on the performance of ICOs in blockchain ventures. Given the highly technical nature of companies involved in ICOs, the technical proficiency of venture companies can have a significant influence on the success of ICOs. Specifically, three potential indicators of technological capability - patents, white papers, and source code - were analyzed. Research design, data and methodology: To accomplish this, a database was constructed by coding the relevant variables from various sources for 514 companies that launched ICOs. This study conducted hierarchical regression analysis for the hypotheses test. Results: The results indicated that a blockchain venture with a patent had a positive effect on the performance of the ICO. Additionally, publishing source code had a positive impact on ICO performance. Conclusions: This study identifies crucial factors for ICO success, emphasizing the importance of technological capabilities. Companies should enhance these to boost investor confidence, transparency, and outcomes. This research offers valuable insights for businesses and policymakers in the evolving cryptocurrency market, aiming to maximize ICO performance and success.

This paper investigates empirically the relationship between various business portfolio properties (particularly technological properties) and chaebol′s performance using data on the 50 largest chaebols in Korea. In addition to the traditional indexes to measure diversification such as entropy index we calculated inter-industry technological similarity using R&D expenditure data by industry and 1990 Input-output Table in Korea, and obtained chaebol-level technological relatedness and internal transaction proportion from chaebols′business profile, inter-industry technological similarity and 1990 input-output table. We applied factor analysis on 13 business portfolio property indexes and showed that they could be grouped into 3 dimensions, diversification scope, inter-business relatedness and degree of vertical integration. In this paper, using 50 largest chaebols′financial data (1989-1994), we analyzed empirically the effect of business portfolio properties on ROS (Return On Sales) which is conventional index for firm performance and on TFP(Total Factor Productivity) growth which is a pure measure of firm performance. To utilize the advantage of panel data, FEM(Fixed Effect Model) and REM(Random Effect Model) were used. The empirical result shows that the entropy index as a measurement of inter-business relatedness is not significant but technological relatedness index is significant. OLS estimates on pooled data were considerably different from FEM or REM estimates on panel data. By introducing interaction effect among the three variables for business portfolio properties, we obtained three findings. First, only VI (Vertical integration) has a significant positive correlation with ROS. Second, when using TFP growth as an dependent variable, both TR(Technological Relatedness) and f[ are significant and positively related to the deepened variable. Third, the interaction term between TR and VI is significant and negatively affects TFP growth, meaning that TR and VI are substitutes. These results suggest strategic directions on restructuring business portfolio. As VI is increased, chaebols will get more profit. A higher level of either TR or W will increase TFP growth rate. but increase in both TR and VI will have a negative effect on TFP growth. To summarize, certain business portfolio properties such as VI and TR can be considered "resources" themselves since they can affect profit rate and productivity growth. VI and TR have a synergy effect of change in profit rate and productivity growth. VI increases ROS and productivity growth, while TR increases productivity growth representing a technological synergy effect.
This paper aims at exploring the comparative impact of social networks and firm's absorptive capacity on the process of technological alliance such as technological alliance partner selection, governance structure and performance. Firms not only need to develop internal absorptive capacity but also need to cooperate with outside innovating entities. Increasing networks with other firms and enhancing firm's internal absorptive capacity become more and more important to enter into new market, increase network effects and develop firm's core capacities. In the view of firm's motivation for technological alliance such as expanding social networks and enhancing absorptive capacity, we develop hypotheses and tested comparative impact of those two constructs using 215 survey data of Korean venture companies. The results showed that absorptive capacity showed more impacts on the technological partner selection criteria than social networks. No impact was found between social network and alliance performance. Only absorptive capacity showed positive impact on the technological alliance success. Both constructs showed no impact on the choice of governance structure. In the conclusion section, we discussed the findings and implications of this study and directions for future studies.

This study empirically analyzed how technological innovation performance of venture business is affected by utilization of external resources, especially utilization of external cooperative network, government's policy funds and venture capital funds, using '2008 Venture Business Investigation'. This study further analyzed how the effect of utilization of external resources on technological innovation performance varies according to growth stage. Analysis results show that all variables related to utilization of external resources, i.e. external cooperative network, government's policy funds and venture capital funds, were observed as affecting positively to technological innovation performance. However, adjustment effect was not observed as statistically meaningful according to growth stage of venture business. Further analysis just observed that the effect on technological innovation performance at each growth stage varies according to type of utilization of external resources.
Previous researches on technological innovation have several limitations such as lack of general mechanism for technological innovation(inputs, throughputs and outputs of technological innovation), large company oriented studies, and ignoring importance of technology management capabilities. So, this study suggested a new model using resource-based theory and system theory, and empirically applied that to SMEs. Structural equation model analysis by using 223 SMEs in Daegu region provided a support for most of hypotheses. Research results showed that all of factors on technological innovation were significantly and positively related with each other: inputs(R&D leadership, innovation strategy, R&D investment, R&D human resource management, external network), throughputs(portfolio management, project management, technology commercialization) and output(technological innovation). In case of technological innovation inputs, R&D leadership influenced on innovation strategy positively and significantly. And R&D leadership and innovation strategy had positive and significant effects on R&D investment, R&D human resource management and external network. R&D human resource management and external network exerted positive and significant influences on technological innovation throughputs such as portfolio management and project management. But R&D investment did not significant impacts on technological innovation throughputs. Among technological innovation throughputs, both portfolio management and project management had positive and significant effect on technology commercialization. In addition, technology commercialization acted positively and significantly technological innovation output. This study suggests necessary of efforts to implement innovation strategy and manage R&D human resource effectively based on CEO's innovativeness and entrepreneurship. Also, if SMEs want to develop technology and commercialize it, they have to cooperate with external technology resources and informations. Research results revealed that proper level of R&D investment, internal and external communication, information sharing, and learning and cooperative culture were very important for improvement of technological innovation performance in SMEs. Especially, this research suggested that if SMEs manage technological innovation process effectively based on resource-based and system approaches, then they can overcome their resource limitations and gain high technological innovation performance. Also, useful policy support for technological innovation of central or regional government by this research model is important factor for SMEs' technological innovation performance.
The purpose of this study was to explore relationships among technology development strategy, marketing competence, knowledge management competence, and company performance of textile and clothing companies. Survey data collected from 187 employees in the textile and clothing companies were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. In results, certain levels of correlations were found among technological development strategy, marketing competence, knowledge management competence, and company performance. Specifically, technological gap which was one of the technology development strategy factors was a variable significantly affecting innovation performance and financial performance of textile and clothing companies. Knowledge management competence affected innovation performance whereas marketing competence affected financial competence of textile and clothing companies.
