  • History and philosophy of science has been consistently emphasized in science education for various purposes. In accordance with the introduction of the 2015 revised curriculum, history of science could be implemented for the curriculum; designing well-organized learning strategies is required. This study examines the case of undergraduate students who solved the convergence problem based on history and philosophy of science in the problem-based learning program. In particular, this study tries to find strategies for integrated education by comparing the problem structuring process and the meaning of problem solving experience of science/engineering and humanities/social sciences students. Participants were three students majoring in science/engineering and humanities/social sciences. Participants constructed and solved their own convergence problems by integrating the domains that were familiar to them into history and philosophy of science. While the process of structuring the problems and the use of history and philosophy of science were similar, there were differences between the science/engineering and humanities/social sciences students' point of view on history and philosophy of science and the other domain which they choose. Moreover, there were differences between the two group's meanings of problem solving experience. Finally, based on the results of this study, history and philosophy in science provided some implications in the context of science education and integrated education.

  • Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome is being impacted worldwide by the prolonged COVID-19 situation. Due to the impact of COVID-19, domestic educational institutions have also changed their teaching methods. Domestic universities traditionally aim for face-to-face lectures, but due to the pandemic, they are conducting non-face-to-face lectures. This study aims to evaluate the effect of non-face-to-face lectures on radiology students. The subjects of this study are students of the Department of Radiology at University D in Daegu. As for the contents of the study, satisfaction with non-face-to-face lecture delivery, concentration, and comprehension was evaluated. Data analysis was performed in SPSS Ver. 26 was used, and the reliability measurement was found to be Cronbach's alpha coefficient = 0.805. In the results of this study, the satisfaction of non-face-to-face lecture delivery, concentration, and comprehension was overall high. However, satisfaction with theoretical subjects (2.08±0.88) was significantly different from that of practical subjects (2.51±1.10) (t=-9.880, p<.001). Satisfaction by grade level was highest in the first grade. As a result, it is judged that non-face-to-face theoretical lectures require more careful preparation from lecture planning than practical lectures, and further research is expected in the future.

  • Until now, most of the attention related information and knowledge transmission is on the verbal message provided by educators. But recently, many researchers are emphasizing importance of nonverbal communication behavior in the evaluation of communicator include educators. When nonverbal messages reinforce verbal messages, meaning is conveyed quickly and easily and with increased comprehension. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of professor nonverbal communication on students' academic achievement. In this study, nonverbal communication was divided into the three dimensions of kinesis, proxemics, paralanguage, and physical appearance. It was studied to examine the direct or indirect effects of nonverbal communication on attitude toward the professor and academic achievement. Additionally, it examined the moderating effect of academic self-efficacy in the relationship between attitude toward the professor and academic achievement. The data were collected from 214 college students using an online survey. The results showed that the kinesis, proxemics, and physical appearance, except paralanguage, have significantly positive influence on attitude toward the professor. And the moderating effect of academic self-efficacy has also been founded.

  • Recently, a variety of programs for elementary school students that utilize play in their curricula are supported. In this study, we are trying to draw up ways to activate play education based on the elements necessary for the play education to be effectively provided on the field and the current operational status. In order to achieve the research goal, nine participants of play experts and parents were selected for the focus group interview (FGI). The FGI consist of five questions: (1) opinions on the establishment and joint operation of the organization to support play and parents' education; (2) opinions based on experience in participating in existing training programs; (3) activation plan of play & education program; (4) competencies required by members of the organization; (5) evaluation of program for quality improvement. Through the FGI survey, we drew ideas for the operation of play & education programs to promote positive growth and support systemic programs of both preschoolers and elementary students. In order for play & education to be active in the field of education, a center where play & education and parents' education can be conducted at the same time should be established and operated so that the education can be integrated with play. Based on these findings, we proposed follow-up research in the direction of achieving specific goals and enhancing the quality of play education.

  • To understand the research trends of English education in Korea for the last 20 years from 2000 to 2019, 12 major academic journals in Korea in the field of English education were selected, and bibliographic information of 7,329 articles published in these journals were collected and analyzed. The total number of articles increased from the 2000s to the first half of the 2010s, but decreased somewhat in the late 2010s and the number of publications by journal has become similar. These results show that the overall influence of English education journals has decreased and then leveled in terms of quantity. Next, 34 topics were extracted by applying latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic modeling using the English abstract of the articles. Teacher, word, culture/media, and grammar appeared as topics that were highly studied. Topics such as word, vocabulary, and testing and evaluation appeared through unique keywords, and various topics related to learner factors emerged, becoming topics of interest in English education research. Then, topics were analyzed to determine which ones were rising or falling in frequency. As a result of this analysis, qualitative research, vocabulary, learner factor, and testing were found to be rising topics, while falling topics included CALL, language, teaching, and grammar. This change in research topics shows that research interests in the field of English education are shifting from static research topics to data-driven and dynamic research topics.

  • It would be reasonable as a teacher to make efforts not only to reflect on the class on their own but also to improve the teacher' teaching e pertise by reflecting on the class with fellow teachers through lesson reflection sharing. This paper attempted to develop a lesson reflective framework that can provide standards and focus for lesson reflection and lesson sharing. First, based on the class evaluation criteria of previous studies, class reflection elements and a draft of lesson reflection were prepared. In a class conducted on 27 third graders at C High School where the co-researcher worked as a teacher, four peer teachers at the same high school were required to write personal opinions on the class based on the draft of lesson reflection. Based on this, lesson sharing was conducted, and modifications of the lesson reflection framework were developed by analyzing the case of class sharing. The implications of this paper indicate the need to clarify the perspective of viewing the lesson by sharing the intention of each question in advance. In addition to writing lesson reflections, it is necessary to share classes simultaneously.

  • As cases of social and ethical problems caused by artificial intelligence technology have occurred, artificial intelligence ethics are drawing attention along with social interest in the risks and side effects of artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence ethics should not just be known and felt, but should be actionable and practiced. Therefore, this study proposes an artificial intelligence ethics education model to strengthen the practical ability of artificial intelligence ethics. The artificial intelligence ethics education model derived educational goals and problem-solving processes using artificial intelligence through existing research analysis, applied teaching and learning methods to strengthen practical skills, and compared and analyzed the existing artificial intelligence education model. The artificial intelligence ethics education model proposed in this paper aims to cultivate computing thinking skills and strengthen the practical ability of artificial intelligence ethics. To this end, the problem-solving process using artificial intelligence was presented in six stages, and artificial intelligence ethical factors reflecting the characteristics of artificial intelligence were derived and applied to the problem-solving process. In addition, it was designed to unconsciously check the ethical standards of artificial intelligence through preand post-evaluation of artificial intelligence ethics and apply learner-centered education and learning methods to make learners' ethical practices a habit. The artificial intelligence ethics education model developed through this study is expected to be artificial intelligence education that leads to practice by developing computing thinking skills.

  • This study aims to help Korean English learners to learn English pronunciation by revealing which suprasegmentals affect the implementation of English sentences closer to native English speakers when they read English sentences. To this end, Korean middle school English learners were selected as subjects and research data were gathered through sentence types (declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamative), as well as syllables. Speech rate, pause frequency, pause duration, F0 range, and rhythm among suprasegmentals were used for analysis of these English sentence utterances. Mean analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed. The results showed that speech rate, pause frequency, pause duration, and F0 range affected the evaluation of fluency levels. In the regression analysis between all suprasegmentals and fluency levels, the suprasegmentals that most affected fluency levels were speech rate and F0 range. Rhythm had no meaningful relation with fluency levels. Therefore, when teaching English pronunciation, it is necessary to teach students to increase their speech rate and F0 range. In addition, students should be trained to reduce both the number and the duration of pauses during utterance to improve their fluency. It is noteworthy that of the four sentence types, exclamative sentences were produced with faster speech rate, fewer pauses, shorter pause duration, and higher rhythm values.

  • This study is to investigate the characteristics of problem-finding and problem-solving abilities demonstrated by the secondary gifted students in the context of STEAM convergent problems. For this, using the STEAM convergence problem solving ability test, we qualitatively and quantitatively compared and analyzed the workbook outputs written in the process of finding and solving problems for each student in the gifted class. The results are as follows: First, we found that the speciality of the major of the proposed activity paper influenced the preference for questions and pattern of finding problems. Second, it was found that the difference in the ability to find and solve problems for a specific task was not by the major of the gifted class, but by the composition of the group. Third, in finding and solving the STEAM convergent problem, the individual creativity and the cooperative creativity of the group were more significant than the major. These results suggest that it is necessary to include the affective factors of gifted students and the concept of cooperation in problem-finding and problem-solving ability evaluation, and there is a need to develop a teaching and learning strategy that can improve cooperative problem-solving skills so that group creativity can be exhibited well.

  • This study investigated and analyzed the contents of writing learning, self-evaluation of writing ability, recognition of writing ability, and recognition of writing education direction to J university students in order to analyze the perception of writing of university students and find ways to improve writing education. Through this, the improvement plan of writing education was discussed. As a result of researching and analyzing the perceptions of university students, college students perceived writing ability as important, and they wanted practical writing classes that received feedback and wrote actual writing rather than theoretical classes. In addition, it was found that they wanted to develop their ability to construct and develop the contents of the article. In order to make writing education a practical competency for college students, theoretical lectures are important, but it is necessary to give enough time and opportunity to write in practice, and to develop customized practical writing. Also, it is necessary to make writing class that students can participate through various teaching methods, and to make writing ability lead to practical competence even after graduation through the method of university graduation certification requirements. This study is meaningful in that it can seek the direction of university writing education through the recognition of college students related to writing.
